I've driven past this place tens of thousands of times as it right on my way to work and I never once thought about stopping in, until the building was demolished and re-built from the ground up. A party store sharing a wall with a do it yourself car wash was just too weird/dingy for me...
The car wash is gone and there's a new Anthony B's here and I'm VERY happy that I decided to stop on a Friday after work to check out their beer selection. Good beer stores have been hard to find and grocery chains (Kroger, Meijer) are very inconsistent, but this place delivers.
The craft selection is good, but not overwhelming, and the setup is fairly open. I'm pleased that there is a place on the way home that carries Rochester Mills cans and this is the first place that I've found Oskar Blues cans, so maybe Ten Fidy will show up one day? I was particularly happy to find four packs from Darkhorse and lots of Bells seasonal offerings (their winter stouts and their new rye ale). Maybe I'll stock up... Otherwise, there's a fair amount of Michigan and other craft beers, and the prices are reasonable; I'd say a dollar or two lower than other stores in the area.
I'm not sure about the staff; they seem to "just work there", but whatever, I usually know what I'm after when I'm on a beer run.
I'm not into wine or liquor, but they had a bunch of that stuff too... I'm basing this review on their craft beer selection, and so far, I've not been let down!
Perhaps I'll re-rate a little later and adjust the stars if need be... I hope they rotate their stock correctly, so six months down the road, I don't find a can of Oskar Blues that was canned in February... read more
