But it was the students first time doing a perm. The teacher was too involved in setting up for a birthday party instead of being there for her students at that time. My hair was not rolled right. There was too big of sections to go into the roller. Ben they only used one perm solution where my hair takes two. I do not blame the student she did a wonderful job but the teacher was not there for her. So if you're going to go and get a perm I suggest you do not because they did not do a very good job on my perm. And then when I tried to talk to them they were trying to tell me that is because my hair have bleach on it where no it didn't not the very tips yes but the rest of my hair was my natural hair. So it was not the student's fault it was the teacher the teacher is not very professional she's too worried about other things than what she needs to be worried about so I suggest you do not get a perm there or if you do make sure the teacher is there teaching the students instead of elsewhere!

This felt like an attempt to silence me rather than a genuine effort to resolve the situation with integrity. In addition, I was told I must complete federal Exit Counseling through studentaid.gov to fulfill a Department of Education requirement. While I understand the need for that step, the communication from the school felt more focused on their paperwork than on helping me move forward. To be clear, I am not interested in dragging this situation onto social media. I simply want to continue my education elsewhere. If I am refunded all the school funds that were paid in -- so that I can transfer and enroll in another program -- I will consider the matter resolved and will not pursue it any further publicly. Students deserve transparency, fairness, and respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with HAI. I hope they reflect on how they treat students who are simply trying to move forward with their education.

The wash and deep conditioning went well but everything after was ridiculous. The young lady doing my hair did not have the proper tools to even blow dry my hair. She then begin to flat iron my hair knowing the roots weren't dry. I even gave a hit mentioning that I hate when people try and flat iron damp hair. When it came to cutting she had no clue what she was doing and began to rush so she could catch a ride home. My hair is thick and looked healthy and beautiful upon my arrival. When I left my hair was brittle and looked horribly damaged. My daughter took the blow dryer and dried her own hair and the girl had no clue how to cut. I requested to speak with the instructor before I left. I made her aware of my thoughts and how even her behavior was unethical. She came over twice in a 3 hr period and that's not proper instruction. She seemed happy with the work they had done and I don't understand how when a blind person could feel our hair and tell it had been extremely damaged. She offered for me to sit down and she quickly cut it. Lol, I told her I just paid $84 to have my hair ruined that's a joke. She began to explain how they are short handed and it's just her and she didn't know this happened. She offered for me to return at a later date but I decided not to because my hair was beyond repair. I went all the way to Houston Texas to have my damaged hair cut off and start the growing process over. Mind you my hair is 100% natural and I'm African American. My daughter graduated high school last year and was asking to take a tour here and enroll. After our experience she quickly changed her mind and there is no way I would pay for her to attend a school that shows a lack of concern for the customers because without customers who are you as a stylist? This is the reason why they charged me twice as much, when I stated that I never asked for those or was told that they were extra and the receptionist didn't even give me that reason as the excuse for overcharging they basically told me tough, and that I received the product therefor I'm responsible for the charges regardless if I requested them or knew about them. You can tell this place has poor management and is not a very good environment for their students as everyone seems unhappy to be there and they don't care about returning customers. They are getting money not only from their students but charging rates that are almost equal to salon's when they are just a school. What a ripoff.

The shop is connected to the beautician/barber school that she graduated from, which is pretty cool for the students there. As for the shop itself, it's definitely a starting point. There were 3 other stations with beauticians working. Comfortable chairs, clean stations, but bare besides a couple of chairs for people waiting to sit in. But I wasn't there for the aesthetic of the shop. I was there to get my hair braided, and Amari did amazing job. Her braiding skills made up for the long drive & lack of decor in the shop.

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU WANT A BALAYAGE. My last two visits here I asked for a balayage and had to get it fixed elsewhere for 150.00. After I had the first balayage I thought they could handle putting a few highlights in bc my roots had grown out (to blend my roots without changing the existing balayage much) this was lost in communication, even with the instructor. I ended upwith full length yellow-y "highlights". To fix their mistake they attempted another balayage which I knew would end terribly but tried to give the benefit of the doubt. Almost six hours later, It was awful. BUT instead of charging me for the highlight job they botched they insisted on charging me for the balayage they botched trying to fix the highlights. After almost ten years I will never be back to this place. Their eye rolling and disrespect and unwillingness to take responsibility was enough for me to pay the 50.00 and walk out. I don't cry in public. Ever. And I cried the whole way home because it's an emotionally traumatic experience being so disrespected in a confrontational manner for four hours. At one point there were four of them encircling me telling me I was wrong, and a poor communicator. Overwhelming. Simple cut? This is your place. Simple highlights? "Our" means my girls and I. The salon is very clean and well kept. The new location at Quail Springs Mall is an incredible location! The prices are unmatched anywhere else! You must understand when you're going to this establishment, that it is a school. The students are learning how to do hair from professionals. So if you are in a hurry, this is not for you! You have to be patient to let the instructor instruct and have your student learn and listen to the instructor. I have met several of the instructors and they are very knowledgeable in their craft! I loved how the students gathered around my daughter as she was getting her haircut and they were learning from their instructor regarding cutting techniques, looking at how the hair laid, and angles. It is truly a fascinating process!
