They are buried steps away. My emotions are a wreck today. But the cemetery took wonderful care of us and allowed us plenty of time to pay our respects. They were compassionate. In the end that means so much. The cemetery is beautiful as well. And you feel comforted being there. Plenty of benches and ways to sit and spend time reminiscing. Some things will always crush my heart.

It is indeed a beautiful cemetery with well kept grounds, beautiful mausoleum buildings and very nice outdoor crypts. Having family members here in a few different locations, I sometimes drive through and look at the beauty surrounding me with every turn of the roadways. I've stopped and looked at the veteran's section and it also is a sad, but thought provoking place to reflect on the many men and women who fought for our freedom and lost their lives doing so. The bronze statues placed throughout are beautiful to look at because they are truly works of art. I attended the Christmas memorial service that they hold every year, and it was an awesome experience with refreshments and music and a memorial Christmas tree that family members can write messages on ribbons and place them on the tree. The groundskeepers are friendly and helpful. There was a time when I couldn't find a certain burial plot and they took the time to help me find it. All in all, this is one of the most beautiful and scenic cemeteries I've visited.

Unfortunately, my family had to pull together a funeral for my dad unexpectedly in early May. Unexpected is the key word because if it's not already planned, all the decisions and details can be incredibly overwhelming - all while you're grieving. Mandziuk & Son were wonderful from start to finish, and helped make everything seamless. They guided us, were very professional, accommodating, and perhaps most importantly, helped us pull everything together incredibly quickly. For example, we picked out some pictures and some songs that they were able to create a nice memorial video for us within 24 hours. They also work closely with the churches and cemeteries so the family doesn't have to worry about coordinating any of that. With their help, I felt we were able to really honor my dad's life and for that I'll always be grateful.

We went up soon after to discuss services and pricing. The place itself is gorgeous; bright, welcoming. Not stuffy or sad. You can tell it's been recently updated. We were comfortable in the lobby and in the consultation room. We were offered complimentary bottled water, which is nice when you're bone dry from crying for hours straight. We made it clear from the beginning we didn't want a funeral or even viewing service. The salesperson was respectful of that and moved forward with going over cremation services. The cremation service itself is carried out by another company and was only like $600? But for some reason, the funeral home charges almost $3000 on top of that for their time and services. That seems wild to me for someone who didn't want viewing, mourning services, visitation, etc. It's expensive to live and it's expensive to die. The salesperson was friendly and mostly respectful, although we could hear the misogyny when he spoke to my husband directly, and not his sister, who was actually handling all the business. Don't like that. But he accommodated all of our simple requests without fuss. Besides the oldschool mentality of our salesperson, it was a fine place to spend a couple hours talking about a dead person.

I think this may have had a different name prior. This was not an expected death. We knew that our loved one had indicated that cremation would be their request which made one of the choices faced by family somewhat comforting. If that can even be possible. Telephonic contact at 6am was prompt and professional. Staff during the funeral was kind and helpful. As one will experience the cost of a funeral is shocking. We chose a short viewing on a Sunday which everyone was pleased with: Family 12-1pm and open viewing 1-4pm. A short wake at Fern Hill Country Club(see review). Let me leave some information here that you will not see in the cremation casket photo. **We chose the Kenzie I think it is called. The cremation casket that is a steel blue in color that opens like a traditional casket but covered in a Demask fabric. A simple cross placed inside. We feared the casket would be unsightly ,however, it was actually very nice!!! We asked for the floral spray to be just slightly larger to cover the portion of the casket that is over the lower body(Van Maele Florest Clinton Township Michigan, see review). It was perfect and even if it had not been slightly larger it would have been fine. You can also use a blanket with the persons fav sports team draped over the area with or without flowers? Two very large sized poinsettias on each side. A few lanterns with battery operated candles, and what a beautiful setting. Listen to this florist! This is big business let's face it. Prices are high but this florist will do for you what they can and make suggestions to make the viewing beautiful. If you are reading this I am sorry for your loss. I hope that this helps you when thinking about using this casket as a choice? We did not regret any choices we made!
