I am disabled and was in dire need of 2 root canals, and full upper and lower partials due to severe teeth issues my whole life. Dr. Dan not only got me out of pain, but he also got my smile back. And what's even more amazing than that, I went through the Illinois Donated Dental Lifeline Services group for people who are disabled and unable to afford proper dental care. Ms. Lisa who works for the Donated Dental Services reached out to 7-10 dentist in the McHenry county area and no-one wanted to help. Dr. Dan donated his dental services to me for free. He is a truly amazing person. I can't thank him enough for all that he has done for me and continues to do. So let me say this, if you need help? If you have dental issues and fear the dentist office? Go see this place. The staff up front, the Hygienist, the assistants, everyone especially Dr. Dan, are truly amazing, welcoming and kind people. I saw my oral surgeon this morning, before seeing Dr. Max, and the surgeon told me that Dr. Max contacted him asking for his 2nd opinion on a questionable area around the tooth he was treating (not his root canal), and Dr. Max told me that he also discussed that area with my general dentist. Now that's a true CARE, isn't it? But perhaps I shouldn't marvel why Dr. Max is so exceptionally caring and instead marvel why not all dentists and doctors are this way, since doctors are supposed to care for and about their patients and put their interests first. They have a mini fridge available with waters in the waiting room and a coffee station. Once called back, the appointment felt rushed. I had imaging done and then had a 2-3 minute interaction with Dr. Max. There was no discussion of options, risks, etc. I was prescribed an antibiotic and told to schedule the next two appointments for root canal retreatment. I was a bit disoriented. I did as asked but eventually cancelled those two follow up appointments and scheduled with a different practice with more time for patient care and education.

I was given detailed instructions concerning what to take when the numbing wore off, what to watch for and how to take care of the temporary filling until the permanent one could be done. (FYI, they do a temporary so that if there is a problem, they don't have to remove a permanent filling to address the problem) They told me to wait for 2 weeks to get the permanent fill, but I have to wait 3 weeks due to the possibility of jury duty during week 2. Just get back today from a quick root canal follow up visit with Dr. Burgener @ Wheaton office ... Couldn't be more happier with the result of root canal.( All the issues with tooth were fixed in just one previous visit ) ************************************************************ Below more details: ( For patients whoever want to know more) The Situation with my tooth was complicated (before root canal).. During the first visit , Dr. Burgener immediately point out there was serious Periodental Pocket around the tooth..If it is left untreated.. The tooth probably can not be saved eventually (even after root canal)... From that moment , I realize why she become Excellent Surgeon..(Looking at the root causes of a issue, foresee all other problem in the mouth that will cause future root canal failure...) Gum issues/ Disease is a different function(Periodentist) I was expecting her to say " After Root canal.. Suggest to see Periodentist) But she never say anything like that... To my surprise, As a talented Endodontist, She come up with a creative solution( Special filling with medication to cover the gum area).. So here I am , Within 2 Weeks after root canal.. My Gum @ that Problem tooth area come back( almost fully recovered) As we all know, Periodental pockets / Disease are difficult to treat...and very very slow recovery.. or in certain cases.. Can not be reversed at all. I feel I owe Dr Burgener a Big "Thank you".. She fix both the tooth problem( Root canal) and Periodental issue( Gum Pocket) in one visit for root canal.
