Hya I had breast surgery this week under Mr Simpsons excellent team! I received the best care possible from my arrival time to being discharged. I couldn't believe their kindness dedication and great teamwork delivering first class care. Nothing was too much trouble for the doctors, nurses , healthcares, and the housekeepers. The doctors and nurses helped me feel well cared for and reasured as I was very anxious before my operation. I have had breast care in other hospitals in England and in comparison your hospitals care and staff dedication is excellent all round Thank you! nurses. No stars for mental liason. Cruel treatment. Written complaint sent in. Tried to contact nursing sister on duty and main reception blocked me. Still blocked. This lady is not keeping quite. I had a UTI and mental crisis. Should have gone to a vet. Antrim area I have sent in a recorded delivery complaint. No answer or phone call. Why am I speaking out. How many have been treated in the abhorrent way that mental liason behaved. Never ever will get over it. Antrim area. Do something so that others are not treated in the way I was. 5mins to destroy any confidence of reaching out for help. Has anyone else been treated badly via some of the mental liason team? Not all. Just a few rotten apples! Discipline them please sister or did you just say I will not bother? Well let me tell you a little secret. I in 2/3 can reach a dark place. Then what would you do? Reach out for something that exists but destroys you with their downright lies. Do not go to mental liason team in Antrim area. Do so at your peril. I will never forgive them. If they hurt you a know they have done wrong they havent even a spec of decency to apologize. As for other care in the community I experience 5 stars. Why are these so called professionals allowed to get away with such awful treatment to us who pay their wages? So blocked by reception. Traumatized by lies. I will be demanding my medical notes. Thankfully, hospitals are (touch wood!) somewhere that I tend not to go near, and hopefully never will have, although most of us will have at least one trip to A&E in our lifetimes. Just over a year ago I received a pretty bad cut to the back of my left foot (due to wearing entirely unsuitable shoes!) so I duly rubbed on some Savlon, stuck on a plaster, and merrily went on my way. Unfortunately by the next day, it had swollen up pretty badly, and I could not put and pressure on it at all, and was in a considerable amount of pain, so unfortunately it seemed like a trip to the dreaded A&E was on the cards. Whiteabbey is my most convenient, but they no longer offer Accident and Emergency, so I managed to talk my mother into kindly taking me to Antrim. I brought a magazine with me, because my previous experiences of A&E meant long boring waits.. but I was amazed to be seen only 10 minutes after arrival, and within half an hour, I was patched up, armed with a course of anti-biotics and on my way home. Dispite all the bad press i have to say ive had no problems with this hospital. I had my daughter here this year and i had many complecations and the staff where nothing but wonderful and really friendly and helpful. Having been admitted to derry hosp after going into labour prematurly and trust me antrim looks like a palace in comparison and the staff are way more friendly here. This hospital doesnt look great inside but the maternityy wards and childrens ward are fab and well kept. My experience of other wards have also been good too. The food for patients is rubbish but this is typical of most hospitals the restrant however is pretty good. read more

Argh!! Don't get me started on this hospital! it has had so much bad press you would be afraid to visit it never mind be a patient in it. The bad press is very disconcerting - so much so that if any of my family members need to be admitted or treated there they request to be sent to Belfast instead. Granted it is a fairly new hospital but they have a long way to go. Whats the positives? lol not much - good amount of parking spaces and the restaurant is excellent but these shouldn't be the plus points of a hospital read more

My first impression of the hospital is that it is very tatty and grubby to be a relatively new hospital. They have received bad press recently and I think things need shaken up a bit and questions answered. The majority of staff do try their best but sometimes this is not enough. Big is not always better perhaps we should be looking at keeping the smaller hospitals instead of trying to centralise things. read more

I have been admitted a number of times to Antrim Hospital all for the same thing which ended up to be Gall Bladder. I had my operation here and can honestly say that I had no complaints. Food as others say is not great but the I have yet to be in a hospital were patient food is good. The only thing stopping me from giving it a 5 star rating was one experience were I ended up being in hospital for two days and never got fed once because they put up a liquids only sign and nobody would make a decision to take it down....i ended up going the the restaurant myself as by the end i was getting a tad peckish. read more

Open letter to the Chief Executive Antrim Area Hospital Dear Dr Stevens, I wish to thank you for the questionnaire that you sent. Unfortunately, I cannot fill it in at this time, A time when Doctors and nurses are overworked and underpaid. How on earth can a patient make a statement reflecting the care one gets while our NHS is struggling. As a patient I am not aware of our caregiver`s comforts like regular break times. For some years I faced serious health problems, my thinking was subjective, Now that I am better informed with reference to shortcomings in the NHS funding I am a lot more objective and I know that whatever care I got from A and E at all times they were doing their best under difficult circumstances. Our nurses have to pay parking charges along with possible childcare along with other commitments. It is about time that we paid them better for the hard work that they do Yes, we are crying out for nurses, in truth I am surprised that we retained the nurses we have got. Meeting deadlines have not helped and could bankrupt our National Health Service, in fact fines for not meeting deadlines have been scrapped by three major hospitals in UK. I think this hospital is one of the only where people are scared to get sick incase they are admitted here. The place has had an awful lot of bad press in the last few months and i would love to say this wasn't justified but unfortunately it was. The hospital has had a lot of very nasty superbugs and the cleanliness has been in speculation over this last while. The hospital state they are trying to sort the place out but there havn't been much proof of this. Parking in the hospital is an absolute nightmare and people end up just parking anywhere at all where there is a space which then causes more delays. The hospital has a restaurant for visitors where the food is excellent its a pity the same can't be said for the stuff fed to the poor patients. read more
