Even though this was my third pregnancy, I learned so much about how to care for myself and my baby. I loved that she wasn't pushy, but gave us the facts and let us make our own decisions. We often covered the importance of exercise and nutrition, and I made changes from that, which I believe contributed to a smoother and easier pregnancy than my first two. She also was so calm and professional throughout my labor and delivery. My husband noted how much he appreciated her composure during the most intense moments of my labor. She's the kind of person you'd want by your side when you're not in the right frame of mind. She also collaborated very well with her assistant, respecting her skills and experience during my postpartum assessment. We loved having her as our first midwife and home birth experience and will definitely be reaching out to her again in the future!

I interviewed so many great midwives, but as soon as I met Ana, I knew she was the right fit. She took me on late in my pregnancy (27ish weeks), and onboarding with her was so easy. The care that I received from her was supportive, kind, compassionate and steady. I appreciate how calm and nurturing she is while staying firm in her knowledge of pregnancy, birth, and of a woman's body overall. Her care is holistic and evidence-based, and she makes her clients actual partners in their care. We never did anything that I was uncomfortable with (which is almost unheard of in a hospital birth). When I started to go overdue, she was there to reassure me, and because she genuinely trusts the process of birth, she helped me trust my body as well. I had an absolutely amazing birth experience that my husband and I wouldn't trade for anything. My baby is two now (sorry this is so late!), but I still think of Ana often and so fondly. She became part of our family for the time she was with us and I will always love her for helping me have the birth experience of my dreams (even at 43 years old). Thank you Ana!

Approximately six years ago, I attended a birth in which a beautiful spirit, Chula Doula,…read morebrightened and heightened the birth experience with her loving mannerisms and charm. I immediately was drawn to her gentle ways of being, moving, and methods of sharing birthing knowledge. Her words embraced my heart and I immediately knew that she was a gifted doula. In time, I discovered that Chula Doula was not an ordinary doula, no; she was a compassionate body and sexual healer, a radical reproductive health educator, a pregnancy masseuse, an herbalist, and an expert birth worker. Since then, I have attended numerous of Chula Doula's workshops on reproductive health. She provides a comfortable and radical space to discuss the reproductive anatomy, self-examination, and sexual pleasure in ways never taught or discussed with me before by gynecologists and others in the health field. Through her teachings, I became visibly acquainted with my internal reproductive system. Who would have known? I now embrace the Power of my vagina. Aside from building a relationship with Chula Doula through her community involvements in creating spaces to explore and discuss reproductive health in which I support 100%, I outreached to her for birthing guidance a few years ago. I was 34 and pregnant at the time with my second child after almost 15 years (son's age). I had no clue to what my birthing options really where or the manner on how to approach these options. I too was clueless on the various healthy prenatal options like vitamins, iron and calcium sources, and other supplements that were available to me which aligned with my philosophical dietary patterns. She welcomed all of my questions via phone, text, email, Facebook, and person-to-person contact. Chula Doula really nurtured my pregnancy, my womb, my body (prenatal massage and body care), my spirit, and my mothering abilities with her positive outlook and expert advice. What made and makes Chula Doula shine and unique is that she too is an artist, which I forgot to mention above. After my birth, like a surgeon, she arrived with an icebox to transport the placenta to her home kitchen where she first created several placental art prints, then separated the amniotic sac and the umbilical cord from the placenta to prepare for encapsulation, tincture medicine, and birthing memorabilia. I was gifted with placental art, postnatal placental pills, rubbing amniotic sac tincture, and a beautiful dried umbilical cord shaped into a heart. From time to time (mostly in moments of despair and/or anxiety), I take these pills and my goodness...magic. Real medicine. I have shared much and tried to broaden my experiences working with Chula Doula and in all honesty, every time we come into contact, this beautiful spirit enlightens me with so much knowledge! Most recently, I learned how intricate the relationship between menstrual blood and land is and how this connection brings us closer to each other through blood extractions and water. I sincerely am humbled and grateful for her friendship and continual support, as I have still so much to learn about my body.

I took Lia's childbirth class during my first pregnancy in 2023. I live in South Orange County, so…read morethe drive was a bit of a commitment, but it was absolutely worth it. Being in class with other expectant couples created such a supportive environment, and the course was incredibly comprehensive. It gave me the knowledge and confidence to navigate a hospital birth and make informed decisions about the many interventions that are commonly offered. At 38 weeks, my water broke unexpectedly while I was riding a stationary bike. I immediately reached out to Lia for guidance. Since I wasn't experiencing a fever or any signs of infection, she explained that I had options: I could either go to the hospital right away or stay home and wait for labor to begin naturally. She also educated me about the fact that the body continues producing amniotic fluid and that, in some cases, a small rupture in the membranes may even reseal. Knowing that going to the hospital before labor started would likely lead to an induction (which wasn't aligned with my goal of having an unmedicated birth) I chose to stay home and monitor myself. The night before my 39-week OB appointment, I was feeling anxious. I knew that if my provider confirmed my water had broken before labor had started, induction would almost certainly be recommended. I reached out to Lia again, and she suggested trying the Miles Circuit. I followed the stretches that evening, and to my surprise, I went into early labor around 1:00 a.m. Whether it was the Miles Circuit, my body simply being ready, or a combination of both, it gave me the confidence to keep trusting the process. In January 2024, I welcomed a healthy baby girl through the unmedicated birth I had hoped for. While my hospital experience was unfortunately traumatic, the education Lia provided made all the difference. There were many moments when my husband, my doula, and I had to advocate for my birth preferences, and it wasn't always met with respect. Without the knowledge and confidence I gained from Lia's class, I truly believe my birth could have unfolded very differently. I'm now pregnant with my second baby, and one of the first things I did was sign up to retake Lia's class. One of the biggest perks is that once you've taken her course, you can retake it as many times as you'd like for free. Childbirth education isn't something you only benefit from once, and I love having the opportunity to refresh everything I've learned before welcoming another baby. I'm incredibly grateful for everything Lia taught us. Her class empowered me to make informed decisions, advocate for myself, and approach birth with confidence. I wholeheartedly recommend her course to any expecting parents, especially those hoping for an evidence-based, physiologic birth. Even if you have to drive a little farther to attend like I did, it's worth every mile.

First off, it can be hard to find time to take a birth class, and Lia chooses convenient times, with multiple options to choose from. It's a very comfortable classroom atmosphere where I felt good to ask any question, or add any comment. Lia keeps it fun and interesting, and is a great teacher. Lia is also available outside of class for questions, and she is super responsive. It shouldn't really matter if a doula has been pregnant herself.... But it was really helpful to hear about her first hand experiences and to know that she has gone through it all before. I just wish we in lived in LA so that we could have Lia as our Doula.

Also let me add, it's impossible to get them on the phone, and don't ever leave a message for the supervisor because she will never ever call you back! It's impossible to get any type of answers from them let alone her. They never meet you halfway when needing something or requesting something, it's literally scratching nails on a chalk board trying to get something done for One-self at this office!! I will never EVER be returning to this office again and am so grateful i got a new doctor, new staff in a new environment with people who actually know how to follow up and do their jobs and actually care about it and US. This establishment does NOT care about YOU. This establishment ONLY cares about what it says on your insurance card and how much they're getting out of it, don't be silly. Oh did I also mention that you never actually see the doctors !? yeah you always only see a nurse practitioner. You will be very lucky and have to argue immensely to try and get seen by a ACTUAL doctor and also let me add you will probably see a doctor from the timeframe you ask for it, pushing a good five months or maybe even more! They do not care about you or your concerns! They like to delay your health as much as they can. You're literally only paying for the environment on the ambience that this place likes to carry , you're better off finding a legitimate, mature and dedicated doctor in the ghetto parts of San Bernardino. They like to push every appointment out as far as they can so that they can get as MUCH as they can from your insurance company! I've seen it happen to me MANY TIMES. I've seen it happen to my child as well while she attended that office as well as many other patients who have left due to the same issue. I will also be calling out the person that likes to handle insurance's idk her title of dept. But her names "Ver**ica" she's a very self centered crappy person. She's highly judgmental, goes based off of your super old history, which you have definitely made up for. She does not give a damn about you or your health. She does not care about anything but her paycheck!!! Which I'm sure isn't that High since she is so unhappy working there. I was told that by someone that works there I won't disclose her name that it is because of HER that I was not able to speak over the phone with my doctor for my appt. Something that I had been waiting for almost 3 weeks to discuss results and the next steps, so based off of her nasty, ridiculous, immature judgment she took it upon "herself" to charge me upfront 100+ dollars deductible fees for a "telehealth" visit which mind you, you are not supposed to do. Telehealth visits are only $15. Don't let them EVER tell you guys different! But this nasty witch Veronica had the nerve to make a "bad judgment" call and want to charge me upfront and then took the initiative "herself" when I stated I didn't wanna pay those funds upfront and to bill me, because again it's not supposed to be requested of me due to the type of visit, she decided to CANCEL the visit herself!! shame on you, Care For Womans and shame on Veronica karma will be coming back to you... trust me you guys don't waste your time here go elsewhere and hopefully you don't run into that nasty witch Ver**ica
