My first appointment with Dr. Steenbergen was a positive experience. I arrived, signed in and…read morewaited no more than about 5 minutes to the actual appointment time. The waiting room is huge, but I think it belies the short waiting time. There have never been more than half a dozen people in the waiting room, some waiting for lab results after a consultation. The staff is pleasant and professional with a couple of exceptions. Dr. Steenbergen was welcoming, polite, professional and thorough. He listened to me and provided his assessment of some treatment options I suggested. Although our discussion was interrupted a couple of times, I felt I had his full time and attention for the duration of the appointment. The physician assistant, Joel Westbury, is also excellent. In fact, I might prefer to see him in the future rather than Dr. Steenbergen. And particularly when there is an urgency for an appointment, I was able to see Westbury much sooner than Steenbergen. Also, there is a phlebotomist on staff which negates the need to go downstairs to the in house lab. The practice appears to be fully computerized. Prescriptions are electronically transmitted to the pharmacy of my choice. After each visit I receive a printed summary of the visit by mail for my records, including any procedures, vitals, and prescriptions.

My husband located this urgent care center that was actually open until 9pm and was near 86th and Michigan Rd. We ran over. It is a small place on the north side of 86th St. Very clean and accommodating. Dr. Khan was patient and very thorough. He told us exactly what we had (strep) and why we had it. He explained what medication he was prescribing and why. He told us where to go to fill the prescription and said that if we were going to go directly to the pharmacy he would wait (past his 9pm closing time) to make sure that the pharmacy didn't need to call him because of the narcotics prescription (Tylenol with codeine). He said they would bill our insurance and on our way we went. He was maybe the best urgent care doc either of us has ever seen. Dr. Khan told us that he used to work at the urgent care in Nora but he left and opened up this place on his own. Looks like he has a second location on W. 10th St. as well. The office was closed on a Sunday night, but they actually took us in to see our daughter who was suffering from body aches, ear aches, coughing etc. The staff was very good, very nice. Physician was excellent. Very thorough and detailed at explaining everything that was going on. You could tell he is not a "cookie cutter" or "cookbook doctor" where I feel they don't think analytically but look up a typical cookbook recipe to fix the problems. You can tell the Doctor has extensive experience and his approach is individualized. My daughter who really liked the doctor and was very happy being there. Rare for a child to like doctors office. I am so grateful that they would help us even though they were closed, lights off. Grateful for Physician for his prescribed plan of treatment. Thinking about switching my personal physician to him.

The medication lasted 9 days after which the pain started to return. I called them on day 13 to have them renew my prescription or get me another that would eliminate my pain. I was told that their policy was they would only prescribe a new medication within 9 days of being seen and I would have to come back and pay another $179 to address my issue. My prescription didn't run out until 9 days passed! They also said my NP who prescribed my medication was off that day and and another attending would not write a script without seeing me first for another $179. What... I guess the other attending couldn't read my file, or even make a phone call to the NP??? This place is nothing but a money grab, forget being cared for like they care about you, it's all about the money!!!!!

He was very thorough and efficient and listened to what I had to say and answered my many questions. He even has a good sense of humor, which is rare for doctors. He did not act like he was in a hurry and just wanted to get me out of the office like most of them do. He encouraged me to call or come back if I had any problems at all. Very good experience here. I would highly recommend it.

The event was very informative. They showcased a lot of services they offer, shared special promotions, and even gave out lots of freebies. For the event, a swag bag was given at admission that included a shaker cup, vitamin C serum, and lots of supplements for health, which was a fun touch. One of the highlights was getting to learn more about my skin through their LED technology. This was quite interesting. The office was packed, they had things set up in the front and all around in the back. It got crowded at times. A gorgeous charcuterie board, fruit-infused water, and cake pops were available to guests. This was an insightful event. It was a really good way to attract new clients, and a thoughtful way to offer deals and appreciation to their current ones.

When my insurance changed, she became my doctor, as well. Dr. Simmons is respectful, taking the time to really listen. She has a calm and peaceful demeanor. Whenever tests were ordered, I never had to call for the results - the office was proactive and always promptly called me.

She is a PCP not a specialist and I am thankful she has referred me to some excellent doctors, who see me on a regular basis for other issues. She is in contact with them and is up to date on my overall health and care. Booking and communication is easier than ever now with the online portal. I'm not happy that she had to sell her practice, but it is almost impossible for a doctor to be independent now days, and completely understand the reasoning behind it. I went in while experiencing a miscarriage. I arrived at 7pm and was told that an ultrasound tech…read morewas on call and had already been called due to another patient experiencing the same symptoms that I was and needing an ultrasound as well. I was told that once the tech was called, she had an hour to report in so it may be a wait. From about 8pm when I was moved to the ER side (apparently required due to needing an ultrasound), I was left in the room and would leave to go out in the hallway and check in with nurses to find out when I would be seen or any updates on the tech arriving. I did this about every half hour since I had been previously told she had an hour to report in. The tech finally saw me at 12am. During the ultrasound, she had constant phone notifications sounding off and distracting her from the procedure. At one point, she had me (the patient) hold the transvaginal probe inside of my body so that she could respond to her phone. I was already quite distressed due to the nature of going through a miscarriage, and this made it much worse. The cherry on top was the bill I received. $3400 (after insurance claims). $2000 of this portion was just due to having to check into the ER (to not be seen whatsoever) but just to have the ultrasound in that ER room. Just beware before coming here. The doctors and nurses are kind, but "on call" does not mean much to the techs. Also, beware that you will end up paying thousands if you step foot into their ER (even if no testing or care is done via ER services).
