Premier Chimney and Roofing - Video inspection with camera scanner

Great doing business with these guys. Polite. Professional. On time. Good rates. I have read the…read moreother reviews about Premier not being a good business. I did not experience anything like those reviews and I do recommend them. July 2020 I contacted Premier Chimney and Roofing to come sweep and inspect my chimney. I had learned about them in a local advertisement mailer. I read the good things about them in online reviews. I had a pleasant conversation with them in scheduling the appointment. The technician came out, swept, inspected, and showed me before and after pictures of his work. He showed all the cracks in my tiles and took the time to explain what my options were to fix it and the severe risks of continuing to use the fireplace. We scheduled to have Premier re-line and re-cap my chimney. They explained Heatshield, the product chosen to re-line it. During the winter, my wife noticed water coming down the chimney through our wood burning insert. Premier was dealing with a temporary COVID related shutdown and I had to use another company for the fix. Matthew, Premier's owner, wanted to see the job through; wanted to make it right. He didn't hesitate to review the work order and reimburse for the work his company would have come out to redo. That's good business. I will definitely use Premier in the future for my chimney needs.

Superior Marble & Stone - Absolute black granite slab as hearth

We stopped in late last Saturday morning on the recommendation of our cabinet maker. I was very disappointed that, although the sign on the door clearly states that anyone entering must be wearing a mask, the red-headed woman that initially helped us didn't wear one at all, and the second woman who assisted us with a product quote kept hers under her nose the whole time. The second woman escorted us around the showroom to help us find a match for something we already liked. She priced out a Hanstone countertop with 2 separate measurements (with and without a separate breakfast bar) and the estimates were $2600 more than one we got from ProSource for the exact same material and the quote for turnaround time was 2 weeks longer. While we appreciated the very quick estimate (we did have to wait a few days for ProSource), it was really not worth the trip out to Portsmouth for us. They also don't carry anything other than stainless sinks, which was unfortunate. Given their inability to adhere to their own protocols and their exorbitant pricing, we will not be patronizing Superior Marble & Stone.

I called this company for a diagnostic repair because my gas fireplace was not working. From the…read morestart, I pointed out that I suspected the pilot light assembly was the issue, since it is a common failure point. Two technicians came out and told me the entire fireplace needed to be replaced due to rust, quoting approximately $4,000. As an engineer who works on ships, I am very familiar with the difference between cosmetic rust and structural failure. The rust present was clearly superficial and did not justify replacing the entire unit. I decided to get a second opinion from another company, and they confirmed the problem was the pilot light assembly. They repaired and cleaned the fireplace for under $600, and the unit now works perfectly. I highly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to major replacements, as this diagnosis could have resulted in thousands of dollars in unnecessary costs.

Their technician/project bidder, Adam, was polite and initially responsive. He was actually the primary reason I chose them over lower-bid competitor (Keithans Gas and Chimney Services) The scheduling process has been extremely disappointing. Timeline of events: Initial contact: December 9, 2024 Current date: February 22, 2025 5 canceled/rescheduled appointments Multiple no-show instances without prior notification The most frustrating aspects have been: Repeated requests to confirm appointments that were subsequently canceled No proactive communication about cancellations Being redirected between various "divisions" despite being a small company Having to take multiple days off work for appointments that never occurred While I understand weather conditions and unexpected situations can affect scheduling - I want them to be safe and understand some project need to bye dry. But the lack of basic communication and professional courtesy is unacceptable for a company. I've missed days of work to sit at my house waiting for them to show up. As a potential customer, you should be prepared for: Extensive delays - there's always someone else they have to schedule first Poor communication - Adam gave me his business card but his voicemail box is full and doesn't return calls or text The need to constantly follow up even though they send confirmations and then just say they were mistakenly sent. The quality of their work may be excellent, but I cannot speak to that as I'm still waiting for the project to begin after more than two months of scheduling attempts. Here's a copy of the appointments and quote - hopefully this saves someone a headache like we are going through.
