I have also had a couple experiences that have helped me to learn what truly makes those outstanding gyms different. I've only been at Evolution Fitness (functional fitness training) for 3 months, and the owner and staff exude excellence in all they do, personally and professionally. They model qualities and share knowledge that help me to be a little better person each day in all areas of my life. THEY invest in US!! It is not just a job. You can tell. Besides the above (I love love love the staff), this is what makes Evolution Fitness different from the other functional fitness type gyms in Milwaukee, and I have tried many of them: (1) the coaches have an ongoing personal relationship with each member of the gym and seem genuinely interested in my goals and growth (2) low athlete to coach ratio (very rare in Milwaukee, more common in Ohio where I am originally from) (3) a community that is not divided into cliques by skill level so everyone is connected (4) personal attention from the coaches when you have a question or need some help. The personal aspect is so important to me in terms of me being able to maintain a high level of motivation so I come regularly and train hard! Coaches get me excited to train, ensure I am growing in my movement quality, and push me in my workouts. I have felt no judgment or micromanaging. The owner truly believes that fitness should be the best hour of the day. Oh and he loves that the community often comes early and stays late because we are tight! Even being new, I am fully integrated and feel well supported by members and staff. The owner is incredibly positive and seems to have hired coaches with a positive and generous style of coaching as well. So AMAZING! I just cannot say enough positive about this gym. I was so lucky to have heard about it. You can even train outside of class times if your schedule does not allow you to get to regularly scheduled classes. I have finally gotten settled in my life in Milwaukee. No more moving around the country. And the search was long but I also found the gym I will not move from. The rumors the previous reviewer mentioned are the result of some members who didn't agree with the choices made by club leadership (all members). While I may agree that some members don't agree with all the decisions, this is just grousing and doesn't change the quality of the tennis, teaching, or facilities. To many, this is the the top tennis facility in the Southeastern WI region with many of the top junior players present. Internal politics are present in every organization, so don't just listen to those who complain.
