You might feel intimidated asking for help working out, this would be the place you come to feel…read morewelcomed into starting your work out journey. Everyone from just starting out to "woah, that's some serious muscle" work out here. I came to Cuong for a myriad of reasons. The main reason I came was to buff up for an apprenticeship I applied for- so I'm at a steady healthy level like the 20 year olds I'm competing against. In the mix of things, SO many reasons to be there got brought up that my focus on why I needed it... broadened. Immensely. A few thing's I can see that I love, and I'm currently on my 2nd week: The consistency of the plans, full body to start, consistency on food intake for any with confusion on dietary needs, the gym is small, private, quiet, and the staff is personable. (If you're like me and don't like people, this would be an awesome gym for you!) The cost: Yes, it does cost you money. You're learning a new skill, one you might not have any understanding of. The cost in the long run is worth it. Initially you'll pay about $340 (if I remember correctly), eventually it bumps down to about $270. The initial joining fees are included in your first payment. The gym is $70 the first month and $50 following. The training is the same, visit their website for specifics. In the end, the personal training only (roughly if you divide the monthly cost by 4) costs about $50/mo, and the gym $50/mo imo it's worth it. I'm currently working with Crystal (Red headed woman in the photos), she is very warm, personable, kind, and forgiving (of my social inequities :D ). The work out plan I'm on I believe is a pretty basic start to see where I'm at and build from it as we go. The personal training session is calm, laid back, and very low key- so you don't feel stressed or pressured. For my work out, again, I think it's fairly basic (nothing too intense, confusing, or stressful) and it's been a great way to see what I'm capable of and where I'm at. They are very attainable work out sets, nothing too heavy, not too many. If something doesn't work for you, discuss with your trainer how to modify. I recently had to modify abs, and it was an easy adjustment. I'm very VERY glad I've taken the leap. I don't feel judged, I feel comfortable going, doing my work out and leaving, it has been a wonderful introduction into the work out lifestyle! Thanks Cuong & Crystal!

He told me that there are certain foods not to eat based upon my previous health history. I thought this information was very valuable as well. His workouts are easy to do yet motivating. They may be fun but they're gonna kick your butt. Plus there's the convenience of online or in person training.

All the equipment is crowded making it hard to use or walk around without being in someone's way…read more You would think with such a small area and limited equipment that they would make sure it's always in good condition and working. But no, two very commonly used machines have been "out of order" for months. Don't bother coming around 5pm. It's very crowded and you never get to use the equipment you intended. The sanitary wipes are often empty when I need to wipe down equipment and the floors are usually pretty dirty. I wish I would have gone to the other gym in town as they are cheaper and have more to offer.

They still chose to charge us for a gym we couldnt even use, not till enough people complained that they stopped charging us. That still means they could of stopped charging us this whole time. This is my honest review and opinion of the anytime fitness in brookings. First i shall start with my initial reaction of the place then go into deeper explinations of specific things later on. The equipment is very run of the mill typical treadmills, elliptical, free weights, nothing that gives them a competitive edge over any other gym. I will add that the time ive been there i have never seen any machines get updated. They say they fix the equipment ASAP but there is still stuff broken in there from when i first went to this gym over 3 years ago. They do not have enough bathrooms. i have had to wait several times to change or use the bathroom becuase they are all being used i have also never once seen this place get cleaned by a janitor or anyone at that matter, cleaning whip containers are often empty. I usually work out around 5-7 and anyone that says this place has plenty of room is lying through there teeth, they use the studio for classes as well as the turf for classes so there is no room to do anything but free weights which is usually packed, cable machines or cardio machines. Now about the classes they are run of the mill about an hour long not to bad of a workout trainers push you and are attentive the only problem with them is once again the lack of space the class can be up to 10 people on the tiny turf, but alot of the trainers are very nice and want to see you succeed but theres one that is nothing but a salesman and wants nothing but you to join classes you will be pressured and made uncomfortable by that specific trainer, it must be commission bases! They preach family but after how they reacted to the COVID-19 out break your nothing but dollar signs to this gym. I would recommend a different gym in town. It is conveniently located right next to hyvee. But i hope they expand into the empty room behind the back wall to make more room for us to work out like they could of already done but chose not to. This is not slander it is my personal opinion take it how you want.
