Pros: The place is pretty large and there are tons and tons of equipment. There is an indoor pool that can be used for lap swimming, water aerobics, and rehabilitation purposes. There are TVs. There is music. It's mainly elderly people so you dont have a bunch of lunks grunting and acting like they're some breed of human/bear/gorilla hybrid. The front desk always has someone there. They provide you with towels. Everyone there is nice, easy going, respectful, and nonjudgemental. The main bathrooms are nice and have two showers. (There is a men's and a women's so don't worry they aren't unisex) There are other restrooms scattered throughout the facility. It's quiet and in a nice area of town. They have several classes such as boot camp, restorative yoga, flow yoga, water aerobics, body shaping, circuit training, and 55+ aerobics. They have a room for curvy girls and people who don't feel comfortable in the free weights area. There is a room full of treadmills and another room full of ellipticals. They have popcorn. Score! There's tanning. There's a masseuse. There's a sauna. Cons: It closes on Sundays and has weird hours the rest of the week. The equipment is mostly old and worn but to be fair is still perfectly usable. It's a little pricey, but if you pay for several months in advance it's much more tolerable price wise. The music is usually Nickleback or Shinedown. There's a lot of religious propaganda scattered around that people leave posted for some reason. The tanning is $10 per use. The good classes are always so early in the morning when I'm busy getting my kid to school. The TVs are almost always on country music or cooking channels. I'm sorry, but I don't want to hear about some singer's depressing marriage or watch someone cook food while I'm starving and sweating to death trying to lose weight. The pool is always hot as balls. It's relaxing, but sometimes after hauling ass on a treadmill or elliptical for an hour you want to cool down. Anyways, I love this place, so don't let the three stars fool you. I just have exceptionally high standards. I blame Obama.

They would not even give us our own corner of the pool to work in because the waves splashed the others hair and makeup even though they were standing on the other side of the pool. Dont think its safe to move on over to the workout equipment. That is used for sitting and visiting! I had heard warnings from others who had tried to join this facility and had run into the same problem. Should have listened!

My review: I'm a heavier thicker 166lb woman , I live in Texas so it gets VERY hot here. I wanted to make everyone aware of an incident that happened to me 1/2/2026 at planet fitness in Bastrop, Texas. I was minding my own business, working out with my friend when the manager went up to me in front of my friend and IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE GYM and told me that I needed to cover up or leave. I left the gym and bursted outcrying in my car. See what management did not know is that I was severely anorexic for a lot of my life, and I had barely gain weight and I was starting to feel more confident with my physique and wanted to be able to wear shorts and sports bras like everyone else. What they did to me not only embarrassing, but it was unethical! I want to emphasize that there was other members at the gym right at the same time I was there wearing the same type of outfits I was wearing. (Sports bra and shorts it was a hot day in Texas mid 80's) I personally feel like I was singled out because I'm thicker than the other thin members that were wearing the same outfits. I find this highly unethical and judgmental. Part of the reason why I went to planet fitness was to be a judgment free zone and not to feel body conscious about being bigger.

They don't really offer childcare as advertised. It's a very small window of time that childcare is available. You can not cancel your membership over the phone or by email. You have to give written notice in person. However, you never know when someone is there or not. See above mentioned, no staff on duty during regular business hours. The gym is already an uncomfortable place for a lot of women. Fitness magazine recently conducted a study that showed that 65% of women try to avoid the gym over fear of being judged. In comparison, only 36% of men felt this way. This statistic suggests that women are automatically more cautious about what they wear to the gym to avoid criticisms and negative comments. Why would I pay for a gym that I go to to make my body look good if I am told to be ashamed of it and must cover up on the main gym floor but can wear what I want in the women's room? It is not about me wanting to wear as little clothes as possible to the gym but more about my right to dress myself as an adult. If the problem is that I will be a distraction, why isn't the accountability on the one who is distracted? The rules state that "sports bras and sports bra crop tops are not considered shirts. Women are welcome to take off their shirts and wear only sports bras in the women's room but must wear shirts on the main gym floor". The dress code specifically targets women. So you're telling me that because three inches of my waist is exposed that I'm not welcome in the gym but meanwhile f**king Chad is over there with a cutout that shows his whole nipple and shorts so tight you can see his d***? Got it. It's 2021, let's stop telling women how they can and cannot dress. The fact that women were given equal rights nearly 50 years ago and this is still an issue is ridiculous.

Superb throwing camp! Took my son to Texas Throwers Camp (TTC) three years ago to improve his…read moreshotput and discus form/technique. He was throwing 40 feet (shotput) and 150 feet (discus) on his own, but couldn't seem to improve. With the expertise and hands-on training of the TTC staff, he immediately saw results. By the end of the season, he was throwing 47+ and 170+ feet (both PRs). He has attended every year since. Now three years later, he is throwing the shotput (56+ ft) and discus (195-200 ft), with a Texas high school state title and D-1 throwing scholarship to go with it. You can't go wrong with TTC. Their knowledge on throwing is TOP NOTCH and the staff is extremely helpful. I would recommend this throwing camp to ANY athlete looking to increase their throwing distances.
