At first glance, you realise that this bank caters mainly to Asians - most of the staff are Asian, which probably helps a lot of immigrants out because they're a bilingual branch. However, no need to fear if you only speak English because the bankers here, although of Asian descent, speak English 100% fluently so there is no language barrier on all fronts. We were served by a personal banker named Justin, who was very nice, efficient, and overall did a fantastic job. He cracked a few jokes here and there and made our experience of "going to the bank" not a tedious errand. --- The only downside is because this is only bank in the CBD that does weekend trading and probably one of the very few that has bilingual services, it is extremely crowded. The teller line was enormous and stretched to the far end of the bank. Thankfully, the wait for a personal banker took only a few minutes, but if you're here to deposit money you might consider this to not be a very quick errand.

Considering the proximity to the mall I find a 20 minute wait for a simple transaction unacceptable. Sadly I couldn't avoid going into this branch. When I arrived there was no coin counting machine. They apologized and said they didn't have one. When I explained croydon had sent me there. They apologized again and said they would sort and bag it for me.it took the girl a while to do this but I really appreciated her effort and the customer service I received. They made my afternoon. On a recent trip to Melbourne I came to this branch to check my accounts. It was a bit of a wait (weekday lunchtime) but I was assisted by a lovely women who took me through my accounts, refunded some money that was owing, and taught me about the concept of ANZ rewards. Staff were helpful, friendly and I left feeling happy with my accounts (I live in the UK now so it kind of just sits there). I've not had any dramas with my bank over the years and this particular branch was very helpful.

So I stood in line while listening to the other customers complaining about how long it was taking. The teller didn't apologise for the wait. When I told her what I wanted, she told me to ask a different banker, and she said it in a rude tone of voice like I should have known. She then played the creepy power game that I had already been subjected to at the Balwyn branch, where she asked to see my driver's licence and then forced me to specifically ask her to give it back to me. I wouldn't dream of holding someone's identification hostage for longer than necessary.

Every time I go there, the bank tellers ask me how my date went while processing my money. Quick, efficient, and the friendly conversation didn't delay me at all. Do the employees at Commonwealth Bank go through a social etiquette course in their training or something? From the excellent phone conversations to the well-groomed and friendly tellers, I'm starting to think that there's a giant conspiracy - Commonwealth Bank overloads their customers with kindness so we will flock to them instead of shitty banks such as Westpac. As a former Westpac-customer turned Commonwealth, it's working. Essentially, be prepared for ultra-friendly service. Maybe going to the bank doesn't need to be such a huge chore after all! BONUS: ~ This branch is located at Kew Junction, so you can stop somewhere for a snack or a coffee as well.

As a full service branch, you can do it all here, but the biggest attraction for me is the coin counting machine. I hate change, so all my change goes into a jar, and this is where I cash it in. With this wonderful machine, there is no more sorting coins into bags required! But there is one catch, it prints out a receipt that you need to take to the teller, and this is then credited to your account; if you don't have a Bendigo account, you won't be able to use it...... I had a small issue once, where a piece of paperwork was not processed in a timely way, but a quick phone call and it was resolved. I like good customer service, especially in a business where customers can feel 'captive'. Also, never seen it busy, and the staff are great.
