We specifically asked if we needed to get a permit thru the City before removing these trees. We were told no and that in the 40 years he has worked in Redding he has never had to get one. Well.... he was wrong! If we had been given the facts, a permit would have cost us about $450.00. We paid him $6,500.00 to do the work and then the City came to us and hit us with a $16,000.00 fine. The City of Redding will not waive the fine! When we tried to talk with Bill's Tree Service and ask for our money back due to their error, they told us to basically kick rocks. He came to my house, looked at what needed to be cleared and quoted me a very fair price for the work that needed to be done; an appointment was made for today, 9/18/25. Matt arrived promptly at 8:00 this morning with a 4 man crew. They set things up quickly and got right to work, taking down a large 95% dead Oak in my front yard. It was done so precisely that it fell exactly where they wanted it to. While they were taking down tree Matt found a couple more that needed to go...They took down 9 trees in total and trimmed up dead sections of 3 trees, cleaned up the yard, moved the salvageable wood to where it can be cut up and stacked and the wood that could not be usable was moved into a pile for burning season... all in a 3 hrs period.
