Communication was clear and consistent, so we always knew what was happening and what to expect next. The craftsmanship and attention to detail really stood out -- from the cabinetry and countertops to the finishes and overall layout. The crew was respectful of our home, kept the job site clean, and stayed on schedule as much as possible. Any questions or small adjustments were handled quickly and professionally. The final result exceeded our expectations, and our kitchen looks and functions better than we imagined. We would absolutely recommend Wise Builders to anyone considering a kitchen remodel and would gladly work with them again!

All prior interior work in our house had been done by handyman. I really appreciated the communication from our project manager Marc. He created a WhatsApp chat with me and the incredible designer Jocelyn. They were both consistently responsive to any of my questions or concerns -- and opened my mind to design options. Jocelyn spent time in our home, drafted plans, took me shopping, and sourced all the fixtures. From her spreadsheet I was able to find less expensive options for some items. I appreciated the input and control I had on these expenses. Since we needed to move out, I had a tight timeline for the project -- mid October until Thanksgiving. Marc and the team did their best despite City of San Jose delays with inspections. We were able to move back in before the final inspection. Every member of the team was kind and courteous. Marc also did a great job working with the window vendor that specializes in older homes. I'm rating the experience a 4.5 out of 5 for two reasons. I was disappointed that the medicine cabinet, switch plates, and hooks were initially installed unevenly (it was corrected). I expected more attention to detail. And I was disappointed in the wear & tear that happened on my wood floors as well as the overall dust in my dining room. I was warned that things would get dusty -- but didn't understand the extent and would have packed away more things. WISE offers lots of support with design -- they could also offer as part of their package a full cleaning! I offer this feedback to help others calibrate their expectations. Overall it was a positive experience. I waited several months to post this review until I returned from travel and could see how things were settling after regular use. I'm loving the new bathroom and recommend WISE.

Really pleased with how everything turned out! From the start, Zion's quote was more detailed than other contractors we talked to, which gave us a lot of confidence that they truly understood the work involved. The team also worked really well alongside our other third-party contractors and designer, making the whole process feel coordinated and smooth. One thing we really appreciated was how they handled changes along the way. When our requirements shifted, they adapted easily and offered great feedback on ways to simplify our design to save time and money. The team showed up on time each morning, cleaned up before leaving every day, and were always respectful and courteous. They made a point to ask questions and check in to make sure everything was being done to our satisfaction. Their attention to detail showed in the finishing touches, and whenever something wasn't quite right, they were more than willing to fix it. The project finished on schedule and mostly on budget. The final result looks wonderful and the quality is solid (the photos speak for themselves). If you're looking for a reliable team for your remodel, I'd happily recommend Brother & Brother Builders!

I hired Prime to renovate my kitchen - countertops, backsplash, cabinets, electrical, freezer, etc…read more They also helped install a new bidet toilet for me. Overall the experience was very good; Elijah and Bryan were super friendly and responsive. Eli was very patient and accommodating as we discussed several different potential change orders, from new windows to painting, to other misc. things that popped up. Bryan Luna was especially a pleasure to work with. His attention to detail and proactivity to solve any little thing I mentioned was definitely the highlight of working with Prime. Their contracted electrician, Hector, was great as well. I also think they did a great job building out a cabinet to fit our freezer next to the matching fridge. Their master carpenter managed to salvage our existing wood to make it match perfectly. Definitely better than what I'd expect from even a carpentry specialty contractor. I will mention that it wasn't without some snags. Prime deals in volume so they're very busy. I think because I had delays in sourcing a freezer I ended up not getting a dedicated project manager for some time. We had timeline issues made worse with holidays. This caused cascading delays which inevitably pushed back my move in date a few weeks. When I finally did get a new project manager, they ghosted me (later on I found out they had a family emergency). Eli had to step in again to help. Another thing is that their pricing is quite opaque. The estimate will break down prices by milestones, but they repeated told me that it's not a valuation of the milestone itself. This made it nigh impossible to understand if I wanted to contract out specific pieces of the project (e.g. flooring). Design was OK. I felt that the designer was very busy. Sometimes very responsive (5min replies), sometimes not responsive at all (no reply). I wish I had a better, more thorough back-and-forth session about the intricacies of the design. But we made do. Ultimately, the designer made a render and helped point us to some vendors, but from there we had to make our own selection alone (cabinets, handles, pendant lights, faucets, etc.). I did appreciate her presence when we picked out countertops, though. All in all, I think this was a 4.5 star job, but I'm rounding to 5 because of Eli and Bryan :)

There have been multiple unresolved issues with the quality of work and follow-through. One example is an LED light that continues to flicker. It has been more than six months, with many calls and text messages, but the issue still has not been fixed. Another example is damage to our garage cabinet, where a hole was created during the work. We are still waiting for this to be repaired as well. Overall, the lack of timely resolution and poor communication after the project has been extremely frustrating.

Elya provided a comprehensive and detailed walk-through of the entire project plan upfront. This significant undertaking included foundation work, extensive structural modifications for the new roof and walls, electrical work, painting, and all the final finishes. Golden View quickly prepared the architectural diagrams and designs for the new bathroom, which were presented to us for feedback and were exceptionally well-made. Once the designs were finalized, all materials were promptly ordered and secured, and the plan was submitted to the city for permits. Elya diligently followed up with city authorities and provided regular updates, ensuring the necessary approvals were obtained efficiently. As busy professionals with young children, we are extremely pleased we chose Elya as the project manager. Their exceptional management ensured everything was well-planned, organized, and communicated regularly. The pace of the actual construction was notably faster than we had estimated. We were initially expecting the project to take around six months, but it was completed in just four months--a remarkable achievement in timeline management. This was very critical factor for us right from the begining. The quality of the work and the process itself were both excellent. We continued to live in the house during the renovation, and Elya's team maintained continuous checkpoints at various stages, meaning there were absolutely no major surprises. Any minor issues that arose were addressed immediately. Furthermore, the work site was consistently kept safe and isolated, which was a primary concern for us having two younger children. We always received advance notice about what work was scheduled and if any input was needed from us, allowing us to plan our days accordingly. We highly recommend Elya as a project manager and Golden View Renovations for their professionalism, quality of work, and ability to deliver a complex project significantly ahead of schedule.

For some context, I have personally project managed my own smaller projects before this in the same home by contracting directly. In the last 1.5 years, I've replaced flooring throughout, closed up some extra doors, new roof, replaced a door with a window, full paint throughout the house, installed a new bathroom vanity, a couple of DIYs, etc. It was a *LOT* of work to do this; but I was fortunate to have a flexible work schedule at the time in order to oversee my project in this way and I was onsite daily, often working in the backyard on my laptop. For this most recent project, I knew I needed professional support to do a 'like for like' bathroom remodel and a half bathroom remodel to pull out an old shower shell and replace with tiling with updated fixtures and electrical. The crew also replaced 5 interior doors in the home including a garage door. Home remodels are tough; most of us homeowners have high expectations which makes sense given that we're spending large sums of money to do a project and then we also live in the house afterwards... we tend to fixate on the smallest details. Is everything perfect? No. But is hiring a professional contractor worth it in certain cases? Yes. I can attest since I've gone both routes now in the last 1.5 years re-working a very worn 1980's home into something that feels fresh. Of the 4 companies I met with, QA builders came in with the best quote and fairness. I was not "mansplained", I was given a fair quote from the first interaction, follow ups actually happened after the first meeting, and our PM Josh was helpful, respectful, communicative, and informative throughout. I rarely felt I had to 'chase' Josh down for next steps. That's HUGE A big plus of working with a contractor is they can help you deliver materials to home for staging such as tiles, plumbing fixtures, bath fixture, etc. Since I don't have a truck, this really came in handy. Additionally, it's a second pair of eyes to help you follow up on random missing parts that are needed and also a human to help advise on small but necessary questions like how many pieces of metal edging for the bathroom would be necessary. Josh was our main point to everything, and honestly, feels like I really paid for his partnership more than anything else. He took a big burden off my plate by organizing the teams, permits, stages of work, etc. We also had some unexpected changes; the main contractor (not Sal) worked on our project for two days before swapping out with an associate. First day was bumpy as things were moving quickly and due to some miscommunications between me, my partner, and the person working the shower head. I came home from work and was upset to discover the shower head was not installed at the right height. The team also began demo in bathroom we had *not* planned for so it was not so fun to discover my belongings covered in demo dust while the other bathroom was completely cleared out for demo. Given it was the first day of the project it made me worried for what would follow, but Josh and the contractor resolved the height issue after I asked for the change without hassle. I threw out my toothbrush, packed out my other bathroom items, and moved on. Rupture and repair means everything, and the team handled the rupture. :) Day to day - language was a bit tricky sometimes; thankfully I shared the same language as some of the workers which helped a lot, but there were also some moments where things were unclear. Workers were a bit of a revolving door; generally we had one "tile person", one electrician who also did other projects, and one generalist who helped with our doors and random paint projects and some other folks who stopped by for certain parts. I found out that it was helpful for me to be home every day during the project during the morning at least, to field all of the questions before heading off to work. It probably would have delayed the project if this were not the case. Although we had people in and out of the home for 4.5 weeks of the project daily (and sometimes on Saturdays), my indoor cat was never endangered or escaped. I'm thankful that one of the workers always made sure she was safely tucked away before beginning their work for the day. A random but annoying thing that ended up happening - because we left the front door open during the day of the project, we ended up having swarms of flies persisting in our home. :( Tip - I discovered that the 10% of tile overage I purchased was not enough two times; I had to go out and buy more, which was fine for some parts but then also rough for another because the tile ended up being backordered for days which halted the project. Consider buying way more because even when I bought more tile we barely had enough to finish or making strategic purchases where vendors have enough supply on hand during your project.

He pulled out his measuring tape and started to show me what he noticed on the dimensions and how everything works when they are rebuilt, such as how the floor will be connected between tiles in the bathroom to the wood floor in the hallway. His attention to details and the down to earth style won our decision. We spent 3 weeks on the master bathroom, passed inspections, then due to the contractor lead's personal business, we took a 2 weeks break, and then resumed remodeling for the guest bathroom for another 3 weeks. Inspections were all scheduled ahead of time and each time was passed with ease. Things were setup step by step and Sal was very on top of any issues as we had a Whatsapp group to discuss issues instantaneously. Sal referred us to a few of his connected shops for discounted price products but we are also free to shop around and find our own supplier. Price negotiation was straight forward and anything deviated from the plan was discussed. For things we had no clue, Sal gave us his suggestions and it was useful. Overall, we were very happy with the craftmanship of the two bathrooms and the services we got. We easily called them back for touch up and small fixes. I would recommend QA Builders.

The scope included a complete renovation of the kitchen, master bathroom, family room wet bar, and powder room, along with extensive upgrades to electrical systems, plumbing fixtures, flooring, drywall, and interior painting throughout a two-story home. Project Scope & Timeline The project spanned approximately nine months, from Q3 2025 through Q1 2026. This included: * 2.5 months for contractor selection and contract negotiation * 2 months for permit application * 3 months for construction and implementation * 1.5 months for finalizing the paperwork and permit status Jay and his team handled the permit application process and completed the construction phase on schedule and within budget. Notably, change orders were kept under 5% of the total contract value, which is commendable given the project's complexity. Overall Assessment Jay Construction delivered solid results in terms of execution, cost control, and quality. While there were some challenges--particularly around communication and project management--issues were generally resolved in a collaborative and reasonable manner. Based on our experience, we assign an overall rating of 4 out of 5 stars. One important consideration for future clients: Jay manages multiple projects simultaneously and may not always be readily available. Homeowners who are willing to stay actively involved--especially in communication and coordination--will likely have a smoother experience. ======================================= Detailed Breakdown by Work Category 1. Electrical Work (9/10, weight 20) Handled by a licensed team (Caesar & his team, Alpha Valley Electric), the electrical work was efficient and well-coordinated. Rough and finish phases were completed in a day each, with additional visits for inspection fixes. High marks for responsiveness and execution. 2. Plumbing Work (8/10, weight 20) The plumbing contractor (Mark) demonstrated strong attention to detail. While this area generated the most change orders due to unforeseen issues with existing piping, problems (including two leaks) were addressed promptly and professionally. 3. Carpentry (9/10, weight 20) * Kitchen Cabinetry & Ventilation (9/10, weight 15): Kornei & team, high-quality installation with complex ventilation work executed to code. * Wet Bar Cabinetry (9/10, weight 5): Viktor, excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. 4. Countertop Installation (8/10, weight 10) Mario & his team of three. Quartz countertops were installed cleanly across multiple areas, with good overall results. 5. Master Bathroom Renovation (9/10, weight 10) Viktor. This portion stood out for its quality. Waterproofing, Wall & Floor tile work, and fixture installation were all completed to a high standard. 6. Flooring (9/10, weight 20) Navruz Flooring, team of 3. Luxury vinyl plank flooring and Baseboards were installed throughout the home, including stairs. The results were consistent and professionally finished. 7. Drywall & Painting (Mixed Results, weight 20) * Initial Work (6/10, weight 10): Ali & team. Drywall texture quality was below expectations, though painting was acceptable. * Redo Work (9/10, weight 5): Smart Painting. After concerns were raised, Jay allowed us to bring in an alternative team (paid with contract dollars), which significantly improved the outcome. * Final Touch-Ups (9/10, weight 5): VitaIy and Viktor. Excellent work. 8. Demolition & Debris Removal (8/10, weight 10) Dimitri (Kitchen, Mater Bath), Vladimir & his team (Rest of the project including all carpet, hardwood floor removal). Efficient and thorough across all phases of the project. 9. Permits & Inspections (7/10, weight 10) While Jay managed the process, we found it necessary to stay actively involved to resolve delays and clarify requirements with the building department. All inspections were ultimately passed, including final approval after two rounds. 10. Project Management & Communication (6/10, weight 20) This was the weakest area. Jay's limited availability meant we took on a more hands-on role--coordinating finished products and rough materials with subcontractors, and helping manage dependencies. That said, Jay was consistently fair and solution-oriented when issues arose, and worked with subcontractors to resolve dependencies. Final Verdict Jay Construction Company is a capable contractor that delivers good quality work at a reasonable cost and timeline. Their subcontractors are generally skilled and reliable, and the company demonstrates flexibility when addressing problems. However, the experience benefits significantly from active homeowner involvement, particularly in communication and day-to-day coordination. If you are prepared to take on that role, Jay Construction can be a strong partner for a comprehensive home renovation project.
