Correspondence via texts was painfully slow with 2-3 days taking to respond to one text at a time and to make a decision on whether they wanted to take a straightforward bathroom remodel job. To make things even worse, they asked if I was working with a designer as one of their requirements. So Fancy. Due to their unresponsiveness, when pressed to get back to me if they want to take a project, they said they are not interested. So much for providing unmatched customer service. A contractor's responsiveness is a direct reflection of their organizational skills and how they will manage your project. Poor communication early on is a leading indicator that milestones will be missed, crews will not show up, and the job will drag on. Stay away from these guys.

Overall -- the price for service provided felt like the upper bound of what should be expected in the Bay Area, but given the mixed nature of our request (some plumbing, some general repair) and the speed of booking (roughly 3-4 days from request) it was worth it.

He was the very first to respond to our request with an actual estimate --- when I also supplied multiple photos -- while 3 others wanted to first evaluate in person with an additional appointment, and last 1 said they did not actually fix leaking faucets despite that being listed on their business profile. My husband and I asked Michael after his initial very fair estimate if he perhaps could also fix some other issues for us at an additional cost -- a loose house siding board inside our light well, and two loose plumbing bits, a kitchen faucet and a bathroom sink hot water handle. He thought it best to come out for the initial cellar sink fix, and then evaluate the other 3 tasks in person, which seemed very reasonable. He made quick work of the cellar faucet, handily fixing our amateur attempted earlier repair into a straightened and 100% water-tight fix. Then he climbed into our awkward light well, only accessible through a waist-height open window, jacked up a ladder, inspected the siding and determined the loose board was luckily only a cosmetic cover for the original 1905 redwood siding, reattached the loose board and caulked the edges for good measure. Then he promptly fixed our loose kitchen faucet and wobbly bathroom hot water handle. I cannot recommend him enough -- 5 stars all around -- on time, friendly, thorough, gung-ho for awkward work fixes like our light well, and very fair pricing. I almost want more stuff to break in this old house to hire him again. Two definite thumbs up!

We contacted multiple handymen but only Aaron insisted on coming in and discussing potential solutions. This helped us make the right decision since we knew he cared about the outcome and not just winning the job by price. We ended up having Aaron do a variety of tasks including installing deadbolts / smart locks on doors that didn't have any bolts before, adding thresholds and sealing all our lower floor doors, installing a towel rack into our shower and fixing weather stripping. This was all done at an agreed upon rate and we were very satisfied with his work, professionalism, pricing and timeliness.

We sent our kitchen assembly instructions ahead of time to make sure they were aware. My overall sense is that Carlos is fairly capable and experienced but either his team or him are not as careful as we had damages to our finished wood toe kicks and our lacquer cabinets looked like they had been dragged over nails as they were being assembled. I didn't appreciate that they made 0 mention of it at all and I had to point it out. As the homeowner, I essentially had to baby sit them for 5 days through the install since it felt like they were incapable / unwilling to read the kitchen cabinet installation instructions in detail and I caught several mistakes early on during the cabinet assembly that made me hesitant to leave it unattended. Carlos's attitude was particularly bad through the entire experience as well. Always made it seem like we were inconveniencing him or being too nit picky even if we caught some mistakes. At one point, he even threatened to quit after the assembly but before the installation simply because he had underestimated the complexity of the project. We did have a 1 day delay due to some plumbing / electrical issues but that's pretty typical as far as kitchen cabinet installations go AFAIK. In the end, they were able to get all the kitchen cabinets installed, albeit with a lot of effort from my end due to the more custom nature of the project. The price was affordable and the work was solid (minus the scratches) but for me the bad attitude wasn't worth it.

You can see from the photos below that Gregory did a beautiful professional job on my project, working with the architect/designer who had suggested the built-ins, and responding to my particular requests. Fitting new cabinetry into an old wooden building required a lot of customization during installation, and Gregory was definitely up to the task - as mentioned by other reviewers he is easy to work with, creative, flexible, with an "incredible eye." He did all the installation and finishing himself (with a helper). To be fair, it took Gregory longer than he had estimated to make and install the cabinetry, but it was definitely worth the wait and he was very responsive and obliging throughout the process. The quality and value were top notch; the cost was about 50-60% that of the estimates I received from online cabinetry firms I contacted. Definitely a 5 star experience - thank you Gregory!

It was not an easy thing to install either with the angles of the apartment. We could could tell it required a lot of skill and patience. We cannot imagine our space without them now. The bookcases on each side of the center chest piece was his idea too and it was such a clever use of space and it looks great. When rain interfered with our original installation date, Leo was quick to coordinate a new date as soon as the weather cooperated. I used A2Z Remodeling for renovating my kitchen in 2025, and highly recommend them…read more I chose to contact them because of their great reviews on Yelp. In the initial meeting with Project Manager Yves, he walked me through the process and answered my many questions. This was all very helpful as I have never done a kitchen reno before, and Yves demonstrated his knowledge and "can do" attitude. Yves also mentioned that the crew working on my kitchen would be dedicated to my project until it was done, a big plus in my opinion. After this meeting I felt reasonably confident that A2Z Remodeling was a good choice. Prior to contacting A2Z I had gotten quotes from a few cabinet makers, thinking that A2Z would only provide general contractor services. But A2Z also has a cabinet design service, so they provided a quote. The design created by A2Z's designer, Marissa, was great so I had no concerns there. However, the quote was less pricey than all the other quotes and I then spent lots of time researching cabinet construction, trying (with limited success) to compare the quality of the materials used in the different bids. A2Z's cabinet supplier is Kraftview out of San Leandro, and ultimately, I went to their showroom in San Leandro to inspect the cabinets in person which and that alleviated all my concerns, they looked great and were very high quality (plywood construction, soft close, full extension drawers, etc.). I am very happy I chose A2Z to supply the cabinetry, for two big reasons: 1) Their supplier, Kraftview, is local, so fast turnaround. Some of the other quotes were for cabinets manufactured overseas and it would take months to get them. And if there were any problems, months to get replacements. And indeed, there was a couple problems with cabinets that needed correction and A2Z was able to get things fixed with only a small delay to the project. 2) A2Z was fully responsible for the cabinets: They took the measurements, did the design, ordered them, and installed them. If there were any problems or unexpected issues they took care of it. Whereas if another company was supplying the cabinets I expect I would have had been a lot more involved in resolving issues. One example is that when the demolition of the old kitchen was done, there was an unexpected pipe sticking out of the wall which we had not accounted for in the cabinet design, A2Z took care of it. Another example is that one of the cabinet fronts had some slight damage on it and A2Z had it replaced, I didn't even know about that until Yves mentioned it after the fact. The cabinet design process went really well. Marissa was fantastic to work with. Her design was great out of the gate and she was very open to iteration, mainly me changing little nitpicky things, then sometimes realizing it was a bad idea and changing it back. I visited their showroom in Oakland many times and it was really nice to be able to talk things over in person with her, and she gave me a ton of great suggestions. The crew working on the job were top notch. As promised, it was the same crew for the entire time and they took care of everything: Demolition, Plumbing, Electrical, Inspections, Floor Installation, Cabinet Installation, Appliance Installation, Painting, Lighting. They were careful to keep things clean and not damage floor, doors or anything. They abided by the HOA rules, and I received no complaints from my neighbors. Along the way there were small hiccups and bumps, but nothing major and A2Z would take care of it. One example was that some of the cabinets arrived missing the grooves needed to install the LED lights, there were a few options on how to proceed and I thought we could make one of the lesser options works, but Yves convinced me that we shouldn't take shortcuts and we took them back to the factory to get properly fixed. Yves and the crew were very focused on making the whole process as smooth as possible and making sure I was happy with the results. Highly recommended!

We added a second story deck and knocked down the wall between our kitchen and dining room. There was excellent communication throughout the process and the crew worked hard and were very respectful. There were several complications, not because of A2Z but because of the age of our house, (there was untreated dry rot that was discovered and they found water under our house which impacted support beams). Our contractor Dror and the crew handled all the bumps in the road with good communication and fair adjustments to the price and timeline of the project. They also made sure that all of our expectations were met and were able to make changes or adjustments if we requested them. We would work with them again and would recommend them to friends and neighbors!
