These reviews must be from the staff or management, because we had a HORRIBLE experience. Luckily, we only booked this hotel for one night, because this place was horrifying. Truly, a bad experience from start to finish.
My friend and I arrived on August 15th in the afternoon to check in. We were greeted in an unpleasant way by the man acting as concierge that day. He rushed through everything in like 90 seconds, and said we were in a room on the second floor, and turned around to walk away. We called him back over, and asked if he could provide us with a map and instructions on the best way to get into the city center. With an exasperated look, he pulled out a big map and made two circles, the hotels location and the city center. He then pulled out another piece of paper which was the bus schedule. He made another circle on there, I am assuming the closest bus stop to the hotel? We had more questions but clearly he didn't want to help us, so we headed upstairs to our room.
We get to our room, and it is literally disgusting! It smelled strongly of cigarettes and dust. Everything was just old. However, we knew we would only be staying one night, so there was no use in complaining. We quickly leave our bags and head out to navigate how to get into the city for dinner on our own, since sitting in the hotel room wasn't going to be a pleasant experience.
We come back to the hotel several hours later after dinner, and it is now dark outside. We enter our hotel room, and notice SEVERAL large spiders. One, as pictured, was on the ceiling directly above our beds. Upon closer inspection, they were actually everywhere!
I head downstairs, and now it is the same rude man behind the desk, plus a new woman who I would later find out is named Justine. I explain the situation, and show them the pictures, and they literally started laughing at me and speaking in German to each other. I don't speak German, which they were aware of, so I can only assume they were saying rotten things about me. She then turns back to me, and said "This is nature, it is no problem. You are making a big deal and this is just nature." I then told her, we are from the United States, and something like this wasn't ok, and that I didn't appreciate her laughter. She then states that she would never want to travel to "my country." Whatever.
At this point, I have had enough, and demand to be switched to another room immediately -- or I wasn't leaving the front desk and would need to speak to someone above her. She then informs me that they were "fully booked" for the night. So I then told her she would need to refund my money ASAP because my friend and I were leaving to look for another hotel. Yes, in the middle of the night, it was THAT bad. She giggles some more, and informs me that "there is ONE room left on another floor." Wow, how surprising! Guess that one just popped up out of no where!
In the end, we switch rooms, and the new one didn't have any spiders in it, that we saw. But there were still several that were noticeable in the hallways on our floor. The next morning, when checking out, I tell the manager of the front desk about our horrible experience, and she brings the price down by 15 Euros. Honestly, she was nice enough, but more should have been done to make up for our horrific experience. read more
