Thankfully, Dr. Lindsay Lawrence, my primary therapist, along with Zac and Brenae, have helped me make more progress than I ever thought possible. They are knowledgeable, encouraging, and somehow manage to make painful exercises seem like a good idea. They celebrate every victory, no matter how small, push me when I need it, and always treat me with kindness, patience, and respect. The staff here is amazing, but I still have one lingering suspicion. After months of therapy, I am almost convinced that if you peeled off their skin, they would turn out to be lizard people sent from another planet with advanced healing technology disguised as resistance bands and exercise equipment. Despite my best investigative efforts, they continue to appear as genuinely caring professionals who are exceptionally good at what they do. If you're recovering from an injury and need a team that knows how to help you heal while keeping your spirits up, I highly recommend them. Just don't mention the lizard people theory--they get strangely quiet whenever it's brought up. In all seriousness, I cannot say enough about their concern, compassion, and professionalism. I am still working through my recovery, but for the first time since my injury, I can truly see a path to a full recovery. That hope is due in large part to the dedication, expertise, and unwavering support of Lindsay, Zac, Brenae, and the entire team. I am incredibly grateful for everything they have done for me.

He really listens and changes up his approach to do what's best for me and my recovery. I would like to deduct half a star for the state of the location. The foot straps on the ONE exercise bike they have are broken so it is hard to keep your feet on the pedals which isn't great when you're trying hard to cycle & get a full revolution and your feet keep slipping off and they have very little exercise equipment. There is a hole in the wall and peeling paint...Just a general look of neglect by the corporate office. I can't fault the people that work there for that. It's all about the people and they make the place great. The ladies at the front desk are also very welcoming and helpful.

I can say, without any reservation whatsoever, my PT at SSM Health Physical Therapy in Downtown Kirkwood has made the entire process nothing short of a COMPLETE SUCCESS. Kim Henze, my Physical Therapist, just might be the very best medical professional I have ever worked with. Folks, I turn 70 later this year, so this is definitely not my first rodeo! What makes Kim Henze so special? Lots of reasons! Here are just a few: 1) Kim knows her stuff! Extremely sharp! She never failed to impress me about her knowledge and expertise in the physical therapy field. Whenever I expressed a concern , she knew exactly how to address the issue, and carefully explained the recommended process to resolve the issue. 2) Trust me, this is a good thing....Kim is a perfectionist. She understands physical therapy requires a real commitment from the patient. It is not easy. Kim made it clear that when doing the various therapy exercises, keeping the correct "form" is critical. I love that. I don't want to waste my time doing things incorrectly. That doesn't happen with Kim Henze. She works very hard to make sure we, as patients, understand the importance of doing exercises correctly. I never felt pressured or criticized. Rather, I honestly felt Kim cared about my recovery. That isn't always the case when working with a professional in any field....yes, even in health care. Her consistency amazed me. At every single appointment, I felt Kim was 100% dedicated to my progress and full recovery. 3) Kim set very clear expectations. I felt her exceptional communication was key for me to achieving consistent progress and results. Again, the mood was never uncomfortable or degrading. I had a lot of discomfort while sleeping, was limited on lifting things over my head & reaching certain ways. I also could tell my shoulder was getting weaker. My therapist at Cora Creve Coeur was Joey and we meshed so well from the start! During my first interaction with him, I could tell his expertise, professionalism and dedication were going to be second to none. You could also tell that he was incredibly caring and he listened to what I had to say about my symptoms. I felt heard with Joey and knew he was going to improve my range of motion and decrease the pain I was having. Through a very detailed & comprehensive assessment of my shoulder, he was quickly able to pinpoint what was going on & came up with a game plan of strengthening/range of motion exercises, stretches, massages, & muscle scraping techniques. PT is of course, not the most exciting thing to go through but Joey made things fun, effective and truly made a difference in my shoulder recovery. I was glad we could go to a private room for the assessment. I wasn't self-conscious. I just found the sounds pretty distracting.
