I had an extremely disheartening experience at APGFCU, this past week. As an Indian customer, I expected professionalism and respect, but what I received was blatant racism. During my recent visit to their Edgewood Branch Office the staff treated me with open hostility, ignoring my requests and speaking condescendingly, while attending to non-Indian customers politely and efficiently. When I told them I would complain, I was told that their Compliance Department would close my account. It was clear that the discrimination was racially motivated. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable in any setting, let alone a bank where customer service should be top-notch. I have never felt so disrespected in a professional environment. I urge APGFCU to take immediate action and provide better training to its employees to foster a more inclusive atmosphere. I also recommend all government agencies to look into the Compliance Department at APGFCU for racism, as it is clear Indian accounts don't matter and can be closed at a whim. Until then, I cannot recommend this bank to anyone, especially to members of the Indian community. read more

I ignored my own advice and we came here during the week on a Wednesday afternoon to add my name to a bank account. We arrived at 1pm and were told the earliest appointment was at 4pm. After 40 plus years whatever is going with this credit union it is only downgraded after the last change over, Between the long waits and given more excuses than one can count on one hand you are forced to drive for three hours to do sort of business to close out the accounts. I will be on my second trip to accomplish this. You give them answers to security questions you know are correct and they deny you verification It obvious they do not seem to care you are pulling out or it takes sometime to an hour on hold. Folks I have them set up long term accounts to handle emergencies on my behalf are also pulling out because it has become of an inconvenience to do any sort of banking since the change over remotely. This is the worst credit union ever. They will play with your money continue to claim there is fraud on your account when u are the one making deposits. You will go to use your debit card and it will be frozen or disabled. Then when u call they will say you need to come in the branch. These people are horrible and the service is extremely poor. APGFCU does it again. Picks and chooses the overdraft charges they pay. Account is -234 and all they paid was a $5.00 PayPal and a google drive charge. They refused a courtesy payment for an AT&T bill. WORST BANK EVER!!!! If you have a choice, dump them! Thats it. 94 minutes to talk to a customer service agent. I'll take the chance of losing my Veteran Disability check. I'd rather lose it than to let a shady business get away with robbery any longer. Oh and after 10 years and they still can't figure out my online banking and requires me to make a special trip to 1 of 3 locations to see there IT department. How bout having your IT call me. I'd give APG a zero if I could. In October in took me almost a MONTH for them to change my last name. It was a constant battle with phone calls, faxes and DocuSign to change my name. I was able to change my ​name with all of my other banks and credit companies with no problem but APG was a nightmare. Now, it's been since November 9th when I asked them to change my payment due date for my loan due to my company changing payroll. They finally updated it and IT IS THE WRONG DATE. Once again I was able to update my other bills with other companies but APG has by far been to worst. When this loan is paid off I'll be banking with a different company. read more

This credit union is the most unorganized and restrictive credit union I have ever did business with. Half the time you can not even reach anyone in customer service and when you do after an hour the employees are very rude and unprofessional. Just refinanced my car loan with USAA and closing my accounts. They charge you for transferring funds and for having a paper statement. Like I said this is the worst Credit Union around! Army Vet and I would not recommend them for any business. Go to USAA way easier and everything is streamlined and simplified. No hidden fees and any bull crap. read more

Since the most recent mobile app upgrade this has been the most frustrating experience I have had with them since 2009. I was unable to access my bill pay account, unable to delete payees etc. After several e mails, multiple calls which were finally returned, 4 hours, 3 hours and 1 hour later finally resolved. Then the web site went back to the same issues with my accounts. I closed all accounts and transferred them to PenFed where I can manage my money and who provides immediate customer service.​ read more

I'll be moving to Aberdeen, MD because of the Military and I have every intention of purchasing a home in Harford County. When I tried to get a pre-approval letter from APGFCU, they told me that I wouldn't be able to apply for a loan until I had an account. I wouldn't be eligible for an account until lived in Harford/Cecil County. None of this makes sense. What is most annoying, is they love associating themselves with Aberdeen Proving Ground but they are unable/unwilling to accomodate people are are moving to the area because of APG. Although we haven't had any problems with our auto loan, except, there is no way to pay your Loan online, at least, not that I seen. I'm laid up, and, I can't get out to pay, I have to rely on other friends or family to take my payment for me. There needs to be another way to be able to pay ( preferably online) read more

I had a car loan with APGFCU and had auto pay set up. They did a recent app update and it stopped my external withdraw from going towards my loan, but put it in a savings account with APG. This was not only not authorized, but I was never notified. So I had to take my own time to "resolve" the issue on the phone. I was walked through, step by step, to set up the auto pay again. I was assured I was good to go. There was no attempt to withdraw the payment on the scheduled date. They then waited 16 days to call to inform me that the payment was late. I again had to use my time on the phone to be assured the auto pay was set up with no notes of why it would not have been withdrawn (i.e. rejected, error). I also was not notified an attempt failed. My external account's bank confirmed no attempt to withdraw the money occurred. I attempted a one time transfer to get my balance correct. It posted "authorized" with a check mark next to it, so one would assume it went through; however, there was again no attempt to even withdraw the funds. Three days of phone calls and no one could help me or give me an answer to resolve the issue. I even emailed the institution to ask for assistance, with no response. I responded to APGFCU to assure the payment was made in person. They told me I had late fees due that I had previously had been assured would be waived do to the circumstances. Never have I had so much stress and difficulties with dealing with a bank. read more

Extremely poor customer service (CS) at this business. APGFCU has a pleasant phone answering system: "We make is easy". "We love you - we love your business". But don't leave your phone number after sitting on hold forever; because APGFCU will not call you back. Who runs this business? Management should take some management classes. APGFCU has gotten worse over the years, they've gone from poor CS to absolutely NO CS. We only stay with them because we are familiar with their online banking + bill pay. Dealing with the home equity department is MISERABLE. Nobody answers their phone, returns messages, or acknowledges emails. I was forced to call the main customer service number and file a complaint before someone finally called me regarding my partially processed home equity loan. The department continually gave me inaccurate information then changed their response after it was too late for me to do anything about it; resulting in over $2,500 of unexpected costs. So many things were done wrong that I can't even put them all in this review box!! When senior level executives were informed of the repeated errors and given an opportunity to rectify the situation they decided that one customer wasn't worth their time. As a result my husband I have both closed our accounts and moved to HarCo where they take the time to recognize individual clients. read more

ive been with this credit union for 10 months with a car loan and out of the 10 months i was paying them they have been very awful until January of 2023 i was put in a financial downfall when they added additional car insurance to my loan which increased my car payment after a bill rep denied my payment i got into a shouting match with one of the loan managers for him asking about my personal business they repoed my car because i couldnt afford to pay a balloon payment for past bills that was a result of there negligence if yu have an account with them please leave. read more

I've bankes with apgfcu for over 20 years. I've applied for a mobile home they said it was so easy as long as I had a credit score above 520, mine at the time was 580. I was denied by the man that works in Elkton and handles that department. I applied again seven years later when my credit was extremely better and was still denied, I was approved for a personal loan in which they said I needed in order to be approved and they said I needed a vehicle loan before I would be approved for a home. I did not want to buy a new vehicle but after having to have my old vehicle repaired as usual for the same costly things which I still have the documents to prove, I am still being denied before they even run my credit. The last time they ran my credit they said I had the credit but my debit was to high because I got a new vehicle loan through apgfcu and the old loan hadn't been reported to the creators at that time. Now it was definitely reported months ago and I'm still having to suffer living with family and friends because the people that work for apgfcu and first national bank of northeast keep denying me for a home mortgage loan of all kinds. I e been through all of the zoom meetings that apgfcu has to offer about grants and home loans. I have worked extremely hard to own a home and being a women or single should not have anything to do with myself being approved for a home. read more

Please avoid this bank. I am a customer. On December 23,2017, I went through the North East MD location drive-thru to get cash for Christmas cards. I requested 3 - 100 dollar bills and 2- 50 dollar bills. I was told "I can only give you twentys because we are out of big bills." I said that's ok, but can I go inside an get some. Again, she said the entire bank doesn't have any 100's or 50's. My transaction slip reads 12/23/17 11:07am 83139 1/1 KZM 1103 BRO111 V/C#-131890. If this bank runs out of big bills, they must be in financiall trouble. Either that, or they are too lazy to accomodate a long time customer. As soon as I am able, I am closing out all of my accounts. read more

WARNING... DON"T BANK HERE I've been a member for 3 weeks and will now be going elsewhere. I set up my paycheck for direct deposit and was told my ATM card would arrive in 7-10 days, so on the 11th day, I went into the branch to find out where my card was and found out it was never ordered. They also deducted my home equity payment WITHOUT my authorization. I called member services and was transferred to 4 different people, each time I had to explain the same issue and was advised the call would be recorded for quality training. When I asked for the person full name, he refused to provide it. I am now heading to the branch in hopes of resolving the issue as well as closing the account. read more

I have been a very happy APGFCU member for 12-ish years and really could not be happier. After switching to APGFCU from a big bank (Wachovia which is now Wells Fargo), I couldn't believe the difference. I have never had any fees "slapped" on my account (I also don't let my account go negative so it makes sense that I would not incur fees). The customer service when I go into the credit union (I frequent two locations in Bel Air) is always wonderful. I never wait long in line. On the occasions I've called in, the customer service agents I've dealt with have been personable and competent. I have had my bank card "hacked" on three occasions and each time, I stopped in the bank, filed my dispute and had everything resolved before I walked back out the door. For what it's worth, in reading thru some of the bad reviews here, you'll find some disgruntled folks who made mistakes with their accounts (overdrafts, etc.) and then wrote bad reviews when they incurred fees. If you keep your account in good standing, you'll find this banking experience painless. When I was with Wells Fargo, there was always a fee for something...maintenance fees, ATM Fees, all manner of random fees...I have ZERO fees with APGFCU. The minimum balance to keep in your savings to stay "active" is ONLY $5. All in all, there's nothing I would change about the credit union. read more

Cryptic fees on accounts. Unable to view checks over six months old without fee.

HORRIBLE! My wife and I left the FALLSTON BRANCH to simply drop off additional papers they requested to do a CAR REFINANCE. That's it. We spent an hour and a half at that location, told we had to open an account to continue with the transaction. The underwriters reviewed the doc's and would not grant a refi because of our income on the tax returns. HELLO!! I am self-employed. Have you heard of deductions? If you calculate my monthly mortgage payment along with all my other expenses and my car payment I currently have...of course it will not match up to my income on my tax return. APG is looking for cookie-cutter clients with a W-2 and excellent FICO Scores. DO NOT use them for loans. I am a local REALTOR and will NEVER recommend this bank. What a waste of time. On a side note...the candy and coffee was excellent. read more
