Full Disclaimer, I don't usually go and get my nails done. I think I've gone maybe 3 times in the past 6 years. The Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere is very calm and quiet, which is nice. I was taken well care of, I walked in for a pedicure with callous removal and received that. I asked for a french tip pedicure but they didn't hear me I assume because they asked me what color nail and I said clear (again wasn't sure what they were asking for) and didn't notice later that my toenails were painted a very soft pink instead. Which was fine with me, I was mostly there for the pedicure treatment so the color didn't matter. I also decided last minute to add a manicure to match my toes. The nails were pretty average at best. The color didn't really cover my nails smoothly, I probably would've gone for a darker color if I came in with the intention of painting my nails. Overall the experience was relaxing even though my manicure was just okay. I'll come back in the future for another pedicure, I quite enjoyed that part. read more

I've been coming here for 1.5+ years and haven't had a bad experience where I don't want to return. Not every visit was 100% great but the hospitality is always 100%. I was introduced to UV GEL w/ gel color and can last forever unless you don't like seeing the nail growth gap. I get a refill every 3-6 weeks depending on the occasion. I've gotten a pedicure here and it's pretty darn good as well. Yes they're pricey but it's worth it! And if the nail color chips you can come back to get it fixed without being charged. They also have a loyalty program. I love it here. read more

Updated review ! I come here when in Bayonne,Nj and have watched as the service slowly declined. It's always crowded, like does anybody work??? The nail techs are not all trained to do all services BUT THEY TRY AND FAIL ANYWAY...this happened too often. The prices went up while the service is mediocre at best. They use to have personalized mail files/buffers. when I returned I was told they no longer do that. The owner Sarah is not friendly at all, always stoned faced and to be the owner, she is not consistent with her work. It was nice to find a spot open on Sunday. The young guy who answers phone is very nice.. immediately gave me a sense of welcome. Place is a nice size and clean. No appt necessary. I was greeted & seated right away. The person who did my pedi was nice... very careful and detailed. I asked for regular which is $33. I gave her $5 tip cause i left happy. Pros: the people that work here and the owner are very friendly. They disinfect everything and they make sure there is no cross contamination between clients. The lady who did my nails was very gentle and shaped my nails beautifully. The prices are reasonable Cons: my dip powder nails started peeling the very NEXT day. I went back and they put a new clear top coat on. They started peeling again within 2 days. The pictures are my nails after 6 days with dip powder that's supposed to last 3 weeks. I had off and needed pedicure and peace. Although they have signs saying no phones .. please be quiet etcccc.. they do not enforce it. Lady sat next to me and talked loudly the whole time about her FHA and section 8 problems. Then when her phone died and I thought even though I was almost done I'd have a minute of peace.. another lady sat down on other side playing what sounded like a Tele novela on her speaker. I keep searching the Bayonne area for a clean salon that has great service. This place is a bit pricier than most (most mani/pedi in the area ranges $22-25. This place charges $28). They are VERY clean however. They put plastic in the spa pedicure chair, makes for an easy clean-up for them, and gives you peace of mind that your feel aren't soaking in gunk! The pedicure is perfectly acceptable -- they even use the hot stones on your feet (not all do!). The tools are sterile, and wrapped individually! I actually upgraded to a gel mani. This is the deduction in one star. You would think there would be a combo discount for gel mani and regular pedi -- there isn't one here. I got charged full price gel mani and full price pedi !! It is nice they give you a personal nail file, but they also charge you an additional dollar for it!! (by the way, this isn't optional -- they won't file your nails unless you buy it) Overall, they do a good job, but it's a bit pricey! After 2 weeks, my nails still look perfect! read more

This happened to me twice, plus they've raised their prices - I paid $60 for a gel mani and regular pedi. This place was my go to for years until recently. I've since had issues with my gel nails chipping sooner than they should. I also kept getting the same tech a few times back to back, and I was pretty unhappy with the sevice. The last time she filed off a chunk of the gel nail polish from one of my nails, and I had to argue with her that she filed off the polish from my nail, not skin. I have also had issues with getting toe separators for my pedicures. I need them or my nails smudge. One time I asked and was told I dont need them. Had a bad experience in the past so I asked for someone who knows what they're doing and to be attended by one of their best. I was attended by one of the ladies there and she was doing everything in such a rush and extremely sloppy. I was there for a whole new set of Acrylic nails. No filing was done no cuticles were removed and when I asked to do it the way I wanted to do it she got upset and without saying a word move me to another another chair with a different person. He was better than her but still wasn't doing the job of someone who knew what they were doing. I paid $65 for a job that wasn't done properly. This place gets a lot of business I will say that. The staff is friendly and efficient. However the decor is just ok, not a fancy place, but is clean from what I can tell. I only give it three stars because my experience was just okay and the quality of work was mediocre. I asked for SNS(I know it's time consuming but I am not a fan of gel builder) what I assume is the boss/head technician tried to talk me out of it. I asked for almond shape and got what's in the photo below. It's not horrible but it's not great either. This place is very organized, however if you don't feel comfortable about a lot of people in one space period during COVID, this may not be the place for you. They have curtains and window barriers up, but every seat was filled. I went in and asked for dip powder and it was going well until it came to file down my nail and they kept going on my skin, any time I pulled away from the pain they said I was being "too soft" and that they couldn't do their job. When applying the dip they didn't make sure it wasn't adhering to my skin so after they finished THEN they started pulling my skin from underneath. Since it was already tender, my skin started tearing. My hand hurt for the next 24 hours. I like that this place offers money off if you pay with cash, it's cheaper than most places so that's why it gets three stars from me. I live in south Jersey City and go to a salon in The Heights but was tired of looking for parking and dealing with traffic so I tried Aphrodite Nail because they had decent reviews and were able to accommodate me. I went here twice. The first time a gel fill-in and it was okay but not phenomenal. They did a poor job with the polish and the owner had to redo it and the results were underwhelming but okay. It was cheaper than my usual place so I decided to try it one more time. The woman who I got this time spent 2.5 hours on my nails and they were lumpy, unevenly painted and she painted over my cuticles, didn't remove hangnails. Was looking for a new nail place since moving to Bayonne and I found it! Aphrodite nails is super clean and they give you brand new files that are just for you. You take them with you and bring them back every time you get your nails done. Everyone is really nice and welcoming. Everyone seems super knowledgeable and they actually listen to what you want unlike other places. They also offer appointments if you need to guarantee yourself a spot or walk in welcomes if you decide you want a quick pedi at a moments notice. Took my fiancé for pedicures after finding this place on Yelp. Hands down best pedicure I've ever gotten!!! The foot massage was great, they use hit stones, and put some wax on the heel to leave it smooth - this was perfect after having a long week of walking. I HIGHLY recommend this place. I feel like this nail salon is a hit or miss. One day I'll have a good experience, the next, I'll have an alright experience. I came here yesterday to get a mani and pedi. My technician was Christy. She took her time with my mani. She always asked me if i was okay with how my nails were turning out. If she messed up, she'll do it again. If I caught something she didn't, then she'll fix it. The pedicures are not bad. You get a hot stone massage with it that feels so good! The massage chairs aren't bad either. They are sterile with all the tools they use. In order for me to give a place 5 stars, I really need to be blown out of the water on ALL aspects of my visit - Aphrodite Nails accomplished this! I saw other good reviews and decided I definitely need to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. Upon walking in I was greeted, and I actually got distracted at first by the cute scarves, and hats that they had for sale in the front. Once I got back to my mission of getting my gel mani, a nice man named James escorted me over to his station. He made a comment about how cold it was outside, and I said "Yes - it's FREEZING, you'll be able to feel how cold my hands are when you get started.." he didn't even think twice - he just went and got me some hot towels for my hands, and even put some in a plastic bag and laid them on my lap. I was already impressed with that because it totally was unexpected. So freaking sweet! He did an excellent job on my manicure I can't even tell you! He was very gentle, didn't go overboard on my cuticles or anything! I said I wanted them cut down a little bit, and he cut them down a little bit. I said I wanted square nails, and he made them more square than Spongebob. It was $25 for my first time there, and I was also given a calendar as a Christmas gift. Ugh love it! James is my boo for life! Sara, the owner, also was very cool. Will be returning forever and ever! Also - they have perfumes for sale in the salon as well as some other items that I've forgotten. They over book and take way to many walk ins... what's the point of scheduling appointments for manicures and pedicures for you not to be seen up to an hour after your appointment time. People schedule appointments because they have to be places... it's very unprofessional.
