This place is like an international market on a much smaller scale. You can find spices and spice blends. You can find many Indian foods and spices. You can find items to buy in bulk like rice, different beans. They have a wide variety of fresh produce. They sell Indian sweets The lines are usually short. However on the weekends, it can get very busy.

They sell expired products and rotten vegetables. Be aware while purchasing frozen products. Expired frozen products badly harms your health

For the main reason of their friendly staff along with their amazing fresh and delicious blackeye cake cakes, or also known as Chinese cake or black bean cake. Hands down, they have the best blackeye cake I have ever had. The pastry is extremely thin. You will not find a thick piece of dough anywhere on this little pastry. The interior is packed, about 2 inches thick of black eye bean mixture/purée. Which is the main ingredient in this pastry. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping in just to try these. They are delicious and you too will fall in love with them!! they're usually packed in quantities of six, and one container is $6, so a dollar per cake is not a bad deal considering how full these are and not doughy. A lot of other places in the area makes the same pastry, but others are more dough than filling, so stop in to try these!

I won't get my onions, bell peppers, or cucumbers anywhere else, and their satsuma mandarins are also a great find. The meat selection is excellent as well and very fresh. The hot food bar is always worth a stop. Their plov (beef or lamb) is a great deal at $9.99/lb, and the meat is unbelievably tender and flavorful. It often runs out later in the day. The samsa are massive, flaky, and come stuffed with pumpkin, beef, lamb, or chicken. The manti and bilyash are also fantastic. You really can't go wrong with any of the prepared foods. They also carry a wide variety of Central Asian and Eastern European groceries, including seasonings, teas, sweets, pickled vegetables, honey, and more. The bread selection is another highlight, with fresh Uzbek non or lepeshka. The space itself is pretty small and cramped, so it feels more like a quick "grab what you need and go" kind of store rather than a place to casually browse. A line of only a few people can stretch to the back, but the cashiers do a great job keeping things moving. Tashkent also recently opened a location in Manhattan that I checked out, and it's a larger space with even more selection.

This Caribbean-centric market is compact but well-stocked and neatly organized, although if an item eludes you, ask as it may be just a few steps away. The store shares two adjacent storefronts. Great source for produce at good prices. Besides readily available items, there are many common island ingredients: okra, peppers (Scotch bonnets, sweet, pimento), dasheen bush, callaloo leaf, and thyme. Groceries include many varieties of grains, salted fish (dry and wet in bag), sauces and seasonings, spices, snacks, and canned and jarred goods, and among them, plentiful Caribbean imports. Pig's tail and salted beef too! The fruits and vegetables are great to buy. Besides produce, I've also purchased canned ackee, dried sorrel petals, Crix crackers (multiple types), Golden Ray margarine, salted fish, salted beef, browning sauce, curry powder, and a myriad of other spices and seasonings. A great grocer for Caribbean cooking basics. Service is efficient and friendly. Conveniently located in the commercial area just outside the Sutphin E line station.

Tokyo Market is within arms reach with the essentials you need to grab without having to make the trip out to Flushing or Elmhurst--Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Taiwanese, Indonesian, etc. Just don't expect the selection to be as grand as a supermarket since it is a small shop afterall, but great to taste some of Asia's finest. They also make ready-to-eat snacks and onigiri, though not as extensive as Sakura's. I speak to the owners in Chinese, so obviously they love me, but my friends in the area come here frequently too to grab their favorite Asian snacks since they offer a diverse selection and at reasonable prices. They don't have the most eye-catching storefront, so it can be very easy to miss if you aren't actively looking for it.
