My wife gifted me with tickets on a random Tuesday night to see Choir of Man at the Apollo theater in Lincoln Park. First time going to the theater although I passed by many times. It's conveniently located close to Fullerton CTA station and it's a great little strip with lots of restaurants and pubs. Speaking of pubs that's the primary subject of the show. A bunch of singing guys from all walks of life hanging out in a British styled pub. It's live interactive theater and the show also features a fully functioning bar. The audience is invited to participate in the songs, activities, and libations. The whole cast was extremely talented. In addition to featuring some amazing vocalists many played instruments and I honestly liked the tap dancing myself. It's a fun show with great appreciation towards the world's dwindling public houses presenting them as a place for people to share the trials and tribulations of life and instilled a sense of community. Definitely recommend checking out this fun and uplighting show.

Talk about fun! I love theater. I love listening to great music and fabulous dancing. Coming from NYC, I grew up on theater. When I got an email on Monday saying that the Apollo theater invites me to a free show, I felt so excited! The Apollo Theatre hosts the musical, "The Choir of Man". It features an all male ensemble who sing, dance and act from an Irish pub. The cast plays various music instruments including the piano, guitar, melódica, trumpet, and ukelele. The performance showcases songs such as "Welcome to the Jungle", "Hello" (by Adele), "Don't Wake Me Up", and "500 Miles". With that said, the ensemble gets the audience involved with the show. Before the show begins, one of the cast members asks audience members if they will feel comfortable coming up stage and dancing. With us sitting in the front row, one stage ensemble asked me. I said no. The ensemble goes around the audience and ask what drink are you drinking? Some asked me, I answered a ginger ale (I don't drink). The show lasts for 90 minutes. During the show, the cast members give out free beers and even snacks to the audience. Just like a party, the stage features a working bar at the center of the set. Fun and engaging. The vibe feels lively and energetic. Come to see "Choir of Man". Being dates or friends and get ready to party!

I'm so amazed by the show, have to say it's one of the best show that you don't want to miss in Sept 2024 when they will come back. Make sure you rsvp the ticket and fully enjoy the fantastic show will happiness. This is the first time ive been a show that all the actors/singer/artiest all drinking during the performance. Apparently they enjoy every single second of it, they also share the happiness (beer and snacks) with audience. The vibe is just too good to memorize in a chill and tipsy mode. I'd love to go back if time is available. Super thanks to Yelp offer the chance to bring my happiness back, before going I was curious about what's this going to be, after the show I'm super satisfied, long time no enjoy a wonderful moment like this. I'm grateful and feel loved.

What a lovely little theater. On the surface, parking would seem to be a nightmare, but there is plenty of street parking and a fairly priced lot. I caught Choir of Man on Wednesday which was also excellent. This is the perfect theater for this kind of performance. I will keep my eyes out for future performances at this place! The box office was also super nice and helpful!

Honestly didn't know what to expect when I heard " Choire of man" - decided to let it stay that way and we could learn more at the show! The energy these men brought into the room was INCREDIBLE. The bar has a working pub on stage where they were handing out beers. The music, signing and overall acting was 10/10 - you could see these actors bringing their 10000% - truly an exhilarating feeling being in the hall. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun event/play or a date night out! They are back in September after a brief summer hiatus- be sure to check them out

I saw Bachelor: The Unauthorized Musical Parody with a group of friends in mid-January. The show was hilarious. The Apollo did a good job of checking vaccine cards and requiring masks. This was one of the first live theater performances that I returned to and I felt very safe. The theater is small, so every seat is good! They also had themed drinks and a photo booth setup in the lobby, which was fun. Support local theater and go to a show at the Apollo! Pro tip: they sometimes have discount tickets on Hottix.

Review of the Djembe Show 24 March 2pm Drums | Cross culture | Energy | MC Drums: just like the ad says... every seat has a drum! Which made the experience very engaging, fun, and active. Cross culture: the storyline takes it back to the origin of the djembe drum and how it influences music throughout generations. It also ties in historical roots of why different sounds came about based on geographical location. Super interesting! Energy: it is electric! The band, MC's , music quality makes you move in your seat and compelled to follow the rhythm. Luckily you have a drum at your seat to transfer that beat. MC: the cast was incredible, but the MC was really the star of the show. He kept the room engaged and made the experience enjoyable. Nathan and I always joke every event needs a hype man, and this is yet another example of what a man with a drum can do for an event. The lead singer is definitely a sight as well with the costume changes and genres she explores. Great job! Pro tip: buy your tickets on discounted websites because they are cheaper than the door. Pro tip: every seat is a good seat, so don't worry about being close to the front/center.

I received tickets for Love Actually: The Musical Parody on a Friday night. It was a great evening! The theater checks COVID vaccine cards at the door and masks are worn throughout the show. We were spaced out from other parties and it seemed there was spacing amongst everyone. I have been here years ago when they had $5 comedy on Fridays. Nice theater and staff.

Apollo is a great little theater that offers real talent. Because of the theater's size, seating and sight lines are fantastic. You can relax and know you'll be able to fully enjoy the performance no matter where you sit. Snacks and beverages are readily available. But if you prefer, there are various dining options nearby. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. My friend had a couple of questions and the young man was very helpful without rushing. It is an all around wonderful experience and you know you'll see a group of talented stars in a clean and comfortable theater.

Recently, four of us saw the The men & Their Music concert at the Apollo Theater. This neighborhood theater is incredible and a hidden secret. Upon entering the theater, we were directed to go to the lobby which is located on the second floor. The lobby is the on the smaller side with the ticket booth, sitting area, concession stand and a small bar. We were directed to one of the theaters. The staff members were friendly while passing out the playbill and directing us to our seats. The theater has stadium seating so there's no bad seat in the house. I will say, the chairs are padded so they are very comfortable. Another plus, was the acoustics which was excellent. There is limited valet parking and street parking available. Overall, this is a great theater and I would recommend this place.

This is the first time I've been to the Apollo Theater. I've walked past this many times while in the area... But never went in before. I like this theater it's small but modern and very cute with stadium seating let you see the stage from anywhere you're sitting I don't think there is a bad really anywhere in the house. The theater is really cute and the staff are very accommodating and friendly... It has an improv feel which I like more than the overdone Productions that are usually at the major theaters. The play was funny and cute but since I just started watching Game of Thrones... It contained a lot of spoilers for me but on the other hand as I go through the seasons I kind of know what's going to happen and I recognized the milestones. I will definitely be coming back here if there are some more plays that pique my interest.

For the reception, we combined 2 of the provided tables together to make wider tables and had 6 of those, a 7-piece band, and a dance floor that fit all our guests in the larger section of the main room. The Art Gallery space next to the main room was perfect for the cocktail hour and could have easily fit more than twice as many people. However once we reached the top, there was no need to worry. What a lovely space this was to have an event. There was a reception area for drinks prior to the ceremony. The room was set up nicely with a combination of standing cocktail tables and seating to sit down in. The bar area was set up nicely and was well organized. I was so surprised to see the outdoor space next to the room where the ceremony was held. The room itself was beautiful, but seeing the outdoor greenery made it all the more magical. After the ceremony everyone retired back to the reception area for drinks. I kept trying to figure out where dinner was going to be served. While having drinks, the staff kept walking around with these amazing hors d'oeuvres! I had so many that I almost did not want to have dinner, they were that good. Well color me surprised as the same room we were in for the ceremony was transformed into a dining area, with a second room next to it set up for a band and dancing. The set up for dinner was nice and the food was actually pretty good, I mean clean your plate good. The staff did an excellent job of serving without getting in the way of things. And the speed at which they transformed the room was pretty quick. I am usually not much for wedding events but we had a great time here, in part to the lovely couple, but the venue had a big part to play in it. UNPROFESSIONAL OWNERSHIP Update: an indication of the lack…read moreof professionalism is the suggestion that I rallied my friends and family to leave low reviews in search of a refund. We already know we aren't getting a refund. The owner made that clear when we tried to remedy the situation with her over the phone. Nicolle was informed of the lack of AC during the event by a staffer who told me herself that she'd contacted Nicolle. Another indicator of her lacking professionalism is the angry emails she sent me regarding my Yelp review - no apology, just anger and threats to have my Yelp account blocked and shut down. She says we toured the venue 6 times... we saw it 3x. Finally, she dismissed the fact that her staffers were unprofessional and didn't know how to tap kegs/mix drinks just because my dad provided a generous tip. If you read the review my dad left (HJ), you'll see that his generous tip does not reflect his dissatisfaction with the service. He's just a generous tipper. I want to start by saying that I had an amazing wedding; definitely the wedding of my dreams thanks to my wedding parties and family. However, the service from the owner Nicolle was just terrible and so unprofessional. When it came to securing a contract or receiving payment, she was on top of the communication. It wasn't until after she met my now-husband and wedding parties that her friendly and responsive demeanor entirely changed. She was condescending and treated us like children. Prior to meeting my entourage, I asked about security and she said that we wouldn't need it unless we wanted it. After meeting my entourage, she told me that since my crowd is mostly younger (it wasn't) she would be contracting security for our event to ensure that we weren't serving alcohol to minors. What an assumption! Whatever age we are, we are paying her and deserve to be treated with respect. Her contract stated that a week prior to the event we would communicate any accommodations or other details for the event, including possible early drop off or arrival of decor. I called her twice and emailed her a follow up - never received a response from her except for her to tell me that she was unable to accommodate us any more - 6 days later & 2 days before my wedding. Her lack of attention to detail could have ruined my day. Bartenders who couldn't tap a keg (she knew we'd have kegs 6 weeks prior to event date) and refused to mix drinks, and her "industrial strength AC" that she promised didn't work throughout the entire 80 degree day and showed "service required." She refused to honor any of these mistakes and stated that there was an event the day after and everything was fine. Maybe a smaller crowd would have been fine but 80 people in suits and cocktail attire were drenched with sweat. Fortunately I had fantastic family and friends who made sure my day was magical. The space is cute but the professionalism is nonexistent and a HUGE headache.

We had ample space for 15 of us, with different "work zones" for our meeting activities throughout the day -- and probably would have still felt this way with double the people. Appreciated the option to have some light catering to sustain us, without having to do all the legwork for that - and Nicolle was attentive to requests during the contracting/ setup phase. For a corporate meeting - we challenged the wi-fi capacity as we had a lot of folks joining video remotely; if A/V is your top need, this may not be your ideal spot without some additional technology brought in.
