It was very clean - no hairs to be found, which I can't say about most hotels. Points for improvement: the heat worked well (too well sometimes) and the shower was not warm enough one morning (and maybe too hot the others). The wifi wasn't working one night but the staff was on it, called a technician and within minutes it was fixed. There is a buzzer controlled by staff to get into the hotel so in that sense security is good - but you're supposed to leave the key and staff that we didn't know gave us the key when we came back without checking our name, which was a bit worrying. Despite these issues it was a very good stay.

Also, we tend to stay a bit longer than the average business traveler - in this case, we stayed one week. None of this comes as a surprise to the hotel, however; they knew we were coming at least a month in advance. Wifi. Advertised as free, in fact virtually non-existent. When complaints were lodged, we were met with "nothing to be done" shrugs, vague mention of some phantom technician who would be coming. Nothing changed. Other hotels were able to accommodate our number without difficulty; for a hotel that claims to be "top drawer", they need to figure out their connectivity issues. Hot water. Wasn't any. If you're a fan of the hot water like I am, find another hotel. The breakfast buffet. If the staff put 1/2 as much relish into solving problems as they do into saying "non", or "c'est impossible", this place would be awesome in no time. As it is, it's a NIGHTMARE - the advertised end time for the buffet is 10 a.m. It was not uncommon to see the staff gleefully stripping the buffet of everything but the empty chafing dishes by 9:40. Not that there was ever much in the chafing dishes to begin with: chalky, sloppy "scrambled eggs", pale, rubbery sausage links - toast and cereal. There was supposed to be fresh fruit salad, but that was usually gone by 8:30. And nothing was EVER replenished. So, if you showed up at 9:30, you were lucky to receive toast. You really need to find somewhere else to stay if you are going to be in Roubaix. Don't say you weren't warned. Minus 2 stars.

The best hotel bed Ive slept in and the very best shower ever .A great music channel on the TV like a jukebox . The staff are wonderful and helpful . We had a buffet in the restaurant the first night which was very french and yum . There is a juice bar that sells salads and snacks etc . A theatre. A gorgeous bar for adults and of course the casino . No need to leave once you check in really. I felt a bit pampered by the staff which doesnt happen much. All the ladies were given roses for valentines day in the bar and casino . Chocolates on the pillow. Its child friendly but not in the casino of course. Merci

Yes, the location's pretty good (as in central-ish) but Lille's not that big and the Metro makes it so easy to get about that you could stay a bit further out from the centre and it wouldn't be a big deal. I came to Lille for a wee bit of reminiscing before spending Hogmanay (New Year's Eve) in Paris with friends last year, as I lived in the fabulous city during my exchange year abroad at Uni and fancied a wee donner about (mainly to eat food.) Unfortunately after having a totally rubbish sleep here, I was left utterly exhausted and only had my night out saved by copious amounts of energy drinks! As previously mentioned, the rooms are clean and the staff are friendly (hence the two stars) - but paper thin would be too good a description for the walls. I could hear the couple in the room next to me screaming (yep, screaming) at each other for ages, and it was getting pretty scary so I went down and told reception. They did check it out but it solved absolutely nothing, and to be honest I just didn't really feel all that safe staying there, so it was pretty miserable! Definitely learned my lesson there, it's always worth paying a bit more for a good hotel room!! p.s. Lille is amazing, especially around Christmas. Don't let this put you off going there because it's magical :)

Not bad for a mega chain hotel. I was forced to eat there too, since there wasn't anything within walking distance. Food was actually pretty decent. That's about where the good stops, and the bad comes in. Bed was hard as a rock. Walls are paper thin (think old school Japanese house thin). I was skyping with friends back home at 1am -- just conversational tone, not getting loud or anything. My neighbor was forced to bang on the wall, because it was apparently too loud. At first I was like, b!#$%... but, after I headed to bed, I knew what she meant. Every little thing within several hundred feet you hear. It was terrible. If you're a light sleeper, stay away.

I checked in here on Monday morning and it was such a good experience. Our train got to Lille early in the morning and not only did the staff let us check in at around 9:00AM, they didn't even charge us an early check in fee. The employees here were so friendly throughout our stay it was such a breath of fresh air to not have to worry about anything. Our room was on the small side but had a very clean washroom, a television, a mini fridge with snacks and drinks at VERY reasonable prices, and an extremely comfortable bed that I very much enjoyed sleeping on. We decided to get breakfast at the hotel on Tuesday and the buffet style presentation had a bunch of baked goods, fruit, meats, and eggs to choose from and definitely did the trick. Overall, Hôtel Lille Europe was a home run of a hotel and my favourite place to sleep during my trip. I would absolutely stay here in the future if I find myself back in Lille, I can't stress enough how great the experience was.

The rooms don't have air-con but the windows can be opened (although bring your earplugs as it can be noisey from the main road). There is however decent sound proofing between rooms. Room amenities include cable television, mini-bar and hairdryer. The breakfast room is a good size and consisted of the usual; ham, cheese, boiled eggs, yoghurt, muesli, french bread, etc. There is also a luggage room to store your belongings after you check out if needed

Actually, it is probably best described as an apartment hotel because the rooms, even though they are a single room with a bathroom, provide you with everything that you need, including plates. They didn't have a huge number of breakfast options, though it is cheaper than a number of other places that I have been to (I wasn't really in the mood for toast or bread rolls, though I do realise that this is what the French generally have). Oh, and the elevator can be a bit funny at times and seems to be a little old (and quite small, you can really only fit one person and their bags in it at a time). Oh, and there isn't much around the area as well - the nears bars are about a five minute walk. Still, it was a nice hotel and the staff were reasonably friendly.
