The Apple store employees are notoriously helpful - they're a revamped breed of customer service in an increasingly distant, online era. This chatty, happy, geeky service - alongside the shiny products and free wifi - is what makes visiting the Apple Store more than fun, it's a downright delight. I went to Apple Hornsby on Thursday, 6th July to ask for help to unlock my ipad as it was locked and the password was set a few years ago and I had forgotten what it was. The consultant was arrogant and ageist and told me that unless I could provide proof of purchase the ipad was useless but not to worry because he could dispose of it for me. He was smug, arrogant and most importantly ill informed as an email to Apple password recovery solved the problem. i expect consultants to know their products but this consultant was unfortunately blinded by his hubris. George St. was great - Hornsby not so much. It may just be my problem, i tunes, but I swear one thing you will never EVER hear from a techie are the words "I don't know" If they don't know they just keep talking but those words don't ever come out of their mouths. My i tunes library and Keeno's should be sharable (is that a word?). Techie says there are too many tunes to share, we need a USB to transfer. Still won't work cos Keeno's old "POTUS" (thanks Rupert) account can't be shared. Tried everything before booking a "genius" appointment. Genius at what? Hair styles? Sorry - I appreciate thats getting a bit personal, but am I the only one who wonders if techies are duty bound to ignore mirrors? If you haven't fixed a problem before why not say so? The worst ever treatment from Hornsby's so-called Genius Bar. I made an appointment to see about an intermittent on-off switch on my i-phone5 . The Genius took my phone out the back for assessment and returned to tell me that the switch was indeed the problem, but that the only solution was to replace the whole phone. I said that i had 500+ work contacts and some photos which were very important and Genius said no problem, I will back it all up to icloud for you then download it all to the new phone. The only trouble was, the Genius didn't allow the backup to complete, interrupted it, and guess what, none of my contacts or photos survived. To say I am pissed off with this incompetence is putting it mildly. Don't let the idiots at Hornsby touch your phone if you have any thing important on it. read more
