And my bathroom was grimy and uncleaned with a brush full of hair in a target plastic bag under the sink. I don't think they cleaned at all, they just expect the prior resident college student to do it. Therefore, I didn't find it necessary to dust every inch and mr. clean the bathroom before move out, it just felt right leaving it how I found it. And I wanted to save my mr. clean sponge for my new place in case I needed it like I did here (I didn't cuz they have an actual cleaning service like every other property does). Also, I was never told that I would be charged ridiculously for not cleaning or taking a penny out of a drawer, otherwise I would've dusted and scrubbed everything and not donate a penny. Additionally, the outside was dirty, uncleaned cat litter on the steps for months, wasp nests and spiders everywhere, and super thin walls. I loved having loud talking people outside or roommates inside keeping me from sleep. My window let all the cold air in making my room freezing in the winter and it let moisture in which formed a nice amount of mold around it. Front desk is nice and I like the fully furnished piece, but it's not enough. There's plenty of better/cleaner/better value apartments in Lawrence.

I lived at helix for the 2021/2022 school year. For the most part, living there was good. There was…read morea lot of community events (although I only attended a few), and the open grass lot in the center of the complex was nice for playing catch. The inside of the apartment wasn't quite as nice as the model unit from the tour, but I don't have many complaints about the inside of the apartment. Here are the problems I experienced at this complex. First, it was promised that there would be a bus driver to run a Helix sponsored bus, however the bus driver got injured and no one replaced their duties, so the bus never ran. Second, the washing machiene in our unit leaked a lot, we put several maintenance requests in, which would fix the problem for a couple weeks, then it would leak again. With that, the dryer took forever to dry. It would take 3+ cycles to dry a normal load of laundry, or 1 cycle to dry just one set if clothes. This was very frustrating as I would have to do at least one load of laundry per day if i didnt want to fall behind. Maintenance was not able to do anything about this either. It was nice that Helix was pet friendly, however, it was difficult to walk anywhere in the grass without getting poop all over your shoes. The residents were supposed to pick up after their pets, but that didnt work well. Finally, this is the most frustrating problem yet. In early January, there was mold growth on all the windowsills of our apartment. We made a maintenance request and it took a almost a week for maintenance to come and deal with it. This seemed like too long considering mold is a health hazard and I submitted my request one severity level under immediate emergency. After the school year, We would come back to the apartment at least every other weekend, if not more to check up on it and to stay a couple nights. My brother and i were moving out because we were heading to out new living arrangement. I pulled out my dresser to vacuum behind and there was mold all over the carpet. To make things worse, there was moisture coming through nail holes, behind picture frames, and mold ruined those too. After further investigation of the unit, the other bedroom had mold growing in one of the corners. We went into the office and the manager and maintenance came to check it out. The manager gave me his email and asked me to send any pictures. He told me he would get back to me in a week or two once he brought this issue up to his bosses and the legal team. Over 6 weeks later and we have not heard back from them. From my understanding, a new company bought the apartment complex later in my lease so thing may be differnt as this company takes over. I hope this review helps anyone who is thinking about signing a lease here. Yelp does not recommend my review, however, I feel this review couldn't be more applicable for reviewing this complex!

Though some may see it as unimpressive at first glance the displays provide a wealth of information and insight into the history of the school which began as a forced assimilation school for native children. For those who know little about the history of native people, this museum is a great starting point. Museum hours vary, as it is often student run, so be sure to call ahead. Admission is free. Non-native visitors are, of course, welcome. A trip to the Lawrence area is not complete without a visit to this museum and the Haskell campus.

The apartment had not been touched with any type of cleaning crew when we moved in and the mold in every vent, the holes in the walls, and the cracks in the base boards (which the roaches seem to love coming out of) we have all had to fix ourselves. We tried to break the lease because our apartment was uninhabitable and were told that we each had to pay 3500$ to leave this shit hole. Above all, fuck Victor. The gentleman that came out to measure answered all of my questions, and was very professional and nice. The installers were also exceptionally kind, professional and knew what they were doing.
