After they put Kristi Barnes in charge of my account things went downhill. After getting several unsuitable candidates for the positions I had, I suggested that perhaps I could pre interview the people she would be sending to my yard. Kristi did not want to allow this. Kristi lost my business with Rand, there were times I was spending close to $100K per year for temporary labor services. From the customer's standpoint there are much better options. I have never dealt with them from the position as an employee. Oh, I almost forgot, after the falling out with Rand, Kristi talked shit about me to one of my coworkers, telling my coworker that I am difficult to work with.

I had several interviews through Rand, however never landed a job. I did send the resume they fixed for me and I got a job. I would not have even had an interview if Connie hadn't fixed my resume. The people at Rand helped me more than they know. It is nice to know they will be there is something happens with my current employer.

Each class is 3-4 days long. I did the night one as it was sooner and that is Thursday and Friday 6-10pm. Then all day Saturday and Sunday at the range. I came from SoCal so it's a lot of driving. They now have you prepay to reserve your spot in class. $90 for class, $95 for livescan, $100 for ammo, $8 for textbook, and some cash for food and drinks. I so dearly want to give this place 5 stars but still have the communication issue with admin staff. The DOJ clearance letter may take a few weeks, but mine came in 3 days and many many people said it came within a week. YOU MUST BRING THIS ORIGINAL TO THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS. A few people didn't and they couldn't do the class. Be sure to bring VOLUME 5 of textbook and not 4 like it says on the website. I had to order the right one on day 2. The instructors were amazing!!!!!! Led by Mr. Terry who is experienced, clearly knows what he is doing, and great with the class. We all had great things to say about him! We had 18 in the class which I heard is mid sized to larger for this class. The range is very nice but can get really hot, bring a chair and a cooler. Only wish they would do this class once or so during the week so you don't have to do the weekend. Maybe hire more people in admin to get more efficient with responses and requests.

I took the December 2nd - 4th PC 832 Firearms class. I took the daytime format and the class was…read moreled by Mr. Terry with the help of four other instructors. They did an excellent job and I learned a lot. Any of the instructors will work with you one on one until you feel comfortable and give you many opportunities to improve. All of the instructors are either current or retired peace officers (corrections, BPD, probation, Kern Co. Sheriffs Office etc.) and several were the range master of their agency. By the time I took the test I felt very ready and was able to pass. Make sure you have your DOJ letter on the first day and your BOG paperwork if you are a BOG student. If you don't have all of your paperwork they will not let you take the course. Make sure you follow all of the guidelines on what to bring posted on the course website. I will definitely be coming back when it is time to recertify!

They made me feel comfortable not rushed at all. I was their for about 4 hours but time flew by so fast. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a job. Act-1 is a professional, friendly, and a committed employment agency. I was blessed to find them. After only a few weeks with them, I was matched to an employer for whom I will start work this Wednesday. What really impresses me is the way in which the office operates as a team! I started out with Paul Alcala, who teamed up with his co worker David Allen; Paul felt that David had an employer I would be a good match for. Both worked together to get me where I needed to be. Both gave me guidance. Leslie Swenson and others answered questions and gave words of encouragement as well. The hiring workshop they put on is so well done that it changed the way I view and understand interviews so much to the point that I was really not nervous like I normally would be; actually, it was the opposite, It gave me the confidence to go in and nail the interview. Act-1 is a great agency to work for. This was my first experience working with a temp agency and I have no regrets. Act-1 helped me build up my resume in more ways I thought possible. I worked with Act-1 for over a year and landed a pretty awesome job . At times I thought I was going to never land a permanent job but patience was all it took. They were consistently keeping me busy with different assignments in different types of industries. Some assignments were just for a few days, others for weeks, and some for months. Not every job opportunity given meant it was the right fit and they understood that and tried to place the person where they were more compatible based off of the company needs. Working with Act-1 was wonderful and would recommend the agency to anyone. I have to say in the beginning when I was first called by this agency I was a little skeptical, because it was in Bakersfield, CA and I was in Visalia, CA. Normally temp agencies you go to are local so you can go in and do all the testing. Well this one is not like that they were able to accommodate me due to the distance between cities. I did all my paperwork online. I wasn't really looking full force for a job yet, but when Genesis contacted me letting me know she had found my resume on Monster and if I was interested in a job in Porterville, CA, I said sure. I did all the paper work on line and she set me up with a interview with her. Then I moved on to my interview with the potential company. Genesis and Cindy were there to walk me threw everything before my interviews both time. I would really recommend Act one in helping you find your next Job. I was very skeptical about the whole "agency" process and thought I'd be just thrown to interview for all and any company regardless of my work history or background. I was paired up with Joseph Valdez and he was very detailed in our initial interview he really took the time to go through my resume and help build and sell my profile to his colleagues and contractors. I sent my resume in to Jessica at act- 1 and within one day had a scheduled interview to meet with her. When meeting, we talked about my resume and how to spice it up, how to dress for interviews, possible jobs and after, I was sent to watch a "safety in the workplace" video. She was extremely helpful and kind, had personally introduced me to everyone in the office and kept in touch with me often. It was nice feeling very comfortable in there and feeling like everyone was there to help me! In less than a week I had an interview for a great company and actually got the job offer! I have been with act-1 off and on for over 12 yrs. They have been such a blessing in my life. I became unemployed, leaving my chosen career, i was in need of training, direction and encouragement! I received all this and more! As has been mentioned by others, they are professional, they have staff that has been there as long as me and longer. It's often a very stressful process searching for employment, it can be quite discouraging having long gaps in-between work. Overall experience with Act-1 has been great. I have used them since 1997 and was able to hire on permanently with that assignment. When I chose to leave that employment and decided to go back to Act-1 in July of 2005, I was set up with an interview with in a month. Ultimately I was asked to start the assignment.
