Called, tried to speak with a job recruiter and was told to leave a voice mail. I never got a name of who I was leaving a message to or a call back for that matter. I reached out to Act-1 while job searching based on recommendations from others who have come here with great success. As much as I wanted that to be my outcome, it just did not happen. Despite calling, emailing, going into the office in person, and following up consistently on any and all job leads they mentioned to me, I was not sent on a single interview. I was hopeful when they namedropped specific listings I would "be a great fit for," but I was never even given a chance. I desperately wanted to come away with a better experience that others have had, but unfortunately it didn't work out that way, and I am still puzzled as to why. Job searching is exhausting enough without the emotional rollercoaster that Act-1 will put you through. My advice is to save the time and effort you would spend here applying and networking on your own. Update: as of 6/4/18 I have been contacted by the branch manager who spoke with me about my experience and invited me back to meet the rest of the team and make another effort. After several years unemployed, I jumped back into the temporary worker industry last June having seen improved reviews of ACT-1 online; this branch's secretary was also nice enough to insist that her company doesn't take clients simply to pump up database volume. The first sign of trouble came when the same secretary was openly surprised I finished all the computerized, in-house worker testing after 15 minutes. Next, I was vetted by a staff member who initially iterated "I'm committed to finding you a career, not just a good job" but ended our ten minute interview with the insult "'I don't know why women your age bother working; you could've stayed home having babies."' When ACT-1 sent a follow-up email, I advised the interviewer should be fired for harassment, if not for general insensitivity that many people of either gender--no matter their ages--can be infertile. Incredibly, this company put said staffer in charge of my account! As a result, not one job offer came my way, despite applying through other California branches, in the four months before I cancelled my account. Please never consider ACT-1 when job hunting. read more

My experience with AppleOne was decent at first. The woman I worked with made me feel as though I was supremely qualified and that she could find me something. Went on a couple lackluster interviews and then stopped hearing from her. One day I emailed to check in about finding a job and she never got back to me. Pardon me, she did get back to me... about a year and a half later. Now my husband is with AppleOne (it was his choice to go there, not mine) and he's been assigned a woman named Sunshine, who I've been assured is a REAL person, though you wouldn't know it because my husband (after his initial meeting with her) has tried calling for about two weeks straight and EVERY SINGLE TIME Sunshine is in a meeting, out for the day, or off for the day.
