What a wonderful experience! I am new to Grand Junction and got referred to Appleton by my new neighbors who have been going here for years. It's always difficult to find a new dentist office that you really like. Dr. Maurer was so friendly and welcoming that I felt comfortable immediately. I went in for a routine cleaning followed by an exam. They were extremely thorough and you could tell that they actually care about their patients. I called the office telling them I had a broken tooth and needed it fixed so they made an appointment looked at my tooth said it was broken and that would be $100 then I can make an appointment the same way week to get it fixed. I have been to Appleton dental 4 times in as many months. It had been a couple years since I've seen a dentist, and needed quite a bit of work done. Every time I have gone here it has been such a positive experience. Even though there was a lot going on in my mouth, there was a lot to keep me comfortable, and distracted if I wanted (TV, blanket, heating pad). What I love the most are the results! After the numbing has worn off, my mouth feels fabulous! My bite has felt great post dental work; never needing to adjust to a new bite because of fillings. I've been seeing Dr. Casper Mauer for several years now and I find him to be a great dentist. He isn't overly aggressive and in my opinion he is very knowledgeable about his field. My mom was visiting from Hawaii and was having crown issues, and Dr. Mauer came in on a Saturday to address her issue. If he hadn't done this, I don't know how my mom would've gotten through her two week visit here. Dr. Mauer and his staff are also amazing with my two toddler girls. Appleton Dental has spent their extra money on a nice fish tank in their waiting room but still use old-fashioned XRays, which have cost us a great amount of pain, time, grief and money. We had Dr. Amber replace all amalgam fillings in our mouths with porcelain and install many crowns. It took months and thousands of dollars. When our teeth were recently re-Xrayed with modern digital equipment, they found a molar in my mouth so full of decay that I needed a root canal. My husband had to have an entire molar extracted due to decay. Several teeth in both our mouths show decay below our beautiful white fillings. We still need to deal with this. Recently my husband had a crown fall off that was installed by Dr Amber. It took almost a week to see if Appleton Dental would stand behind their work, by then, we had decided to start over with another dentist. The receptionist at Appleton Dental told me this morning that she had called me twice, but had not left messages. Nice. We were also told earlier that if we had work done elsewhere, we would not be welcome back. For many thousands of dollars we were happy there. Dr Amber took good care of us; so we thought. Sub-standard X-rays really don't let anyone know what is happening in your mouth. But they sure have a nice fish tank. Shame on you Mr & Mrs Mauer DDS. Way past time to re-examine your priorities. read more
