Apria has the worst customer experience that i have ever had in the medical world. i have been trying to get a call back for a bad piece of equipment for over 3 months. you call the local office and they just put you on hold. no plans to answer. i've called 9 times and am told that corporate needs to inform local. the 1-800 number says they need consent to replace equipment from local. currentlt on hold for the 10th time after calling and getting Barron and i'm at 75 minutes and counting. avoid at ALL costs. read more

Apria is so shady no integrity at all. They continued to send me supplies without notifying me that my insurance wasn't covering it. The staff member told me to ignore a statement stating insurance was billed. Well I was sent to collections and my next bill was for 831 dollars., the debt Co Arstrat is in cahoots with Apria locking my account so I couldn't pay off my debt. I went online and paid for it online. I waited on the phone for 30 mins. I'm gonna buy my supplies from online stores. Apria is no good they've had lawsuits against them in the past. read more

My insurance coverage changed as of 1/1/2024 and as a result (unknown to me) my main insurance company decided to only cover 1/2 of my Apria expense, which included a device and ongoing supplies. I received notice of this via a phone call 6/3/2024, fully six months after the change began and now they're attempting to bill me for the accumulated $500+ to cover the last six months. Their poor service (error-prone deliveries) has been canceled now. Further, I was unaware of how much they were overcharging my insurance company. I can replace the device for less than $100 and they want me to pay $100 monthly (insurance pays the other $100) and never own it. The supplies are $96 (insurance pays the other $96) and I have bought them off Amazon for less than $40 for the same exact thing with more dependable delivery. They're throwing this debt on my credit report now because I refuse to pay it due to their waiting 1/2 a year to let me know. I have also filed complaints with the Attorney's General of Washington State and the Better Business Bureau. Avoid this company if at all possible. read more

The Washington billing department is a joke. I keep getting calls for a bill that I do not know if I owe. With all the identity theft issues going on I will not give them my address as what they have is wrong so it makes me think I am not the person they want. We have asked them 3 times to go back to the company that sent the bill but have informed us they won't do that. If we owe it we will pay it but get us a bill. They kept us on hold for 45 minutes today before they came back on the line with a "supervisor" and was still told they would do nothing. The local workers are fine, but the organization has been horrible to deal with. Group Health requires me to use them for CPAP supplies. In the earlier years they found it absolutely impossible to tell me what they would bill me after insurance. Some big mystery. Now they can give me quotes on the cost of supplies, but getting through to anyone is almost impossible. Their poor call center is totally hung because the people who answer aren't empowered to do anything or they are in the wrong place. I got rerouted to California at one point. My last experience was so bad I called Group Health to complain. They tried to intervene but had trouble making it all work themselves. I can not longer recommend Apria. I fully agree with Pamela J. The local (Bellingham, WA) office staff is great, but corporate Apria is a nightmare!! Today I called my local office, but got instead someone out-of-state, who said local offices no longer answer phones. I had just gone through an extensive and annoying telephone algorithm ("If you are calling from Kaiser or Group Health, press 1, if you are calling from a doctor's office, press 2, etc.). One of these screening questions asked "Please indicate why you are calling. Press 1...., etc.", to which I responded by pressing "4" for sleep apnea supplies. WHEN I FINALLY GOT A HUMAN VOICE, SHE DEMANDED TO KNOW WHY I WANTED TO SPEAK WITH MY LOCAL OFFICE !!?!?!! I said, "I already indicated why. Do you not see my response (#4, sleep apnea supplies) on your screen?" So this rude Apria phone employee hung up on me ! Frustrated, I drove to my local office to ask my question, which proved to be a wasted trip. I have decided to change providers to a corporation that doesn't run me through a meaningless phone tree, ignore my entries, hang up on me, and [wait for it.....] actually answers local phone calls. Like others, my limited experience with the local Bellingham office was fine, but once my equipment was delivered I have to go through the corporate office (wherever that is). The representatives are not well trained and twice gave me incorrect information regarding my rental. In addition it is very frustrating trying to communicate with reps who sound like they have cotton in their mouths and you have to keep asking them to repeat their words until you can understand what they said. 12 days ago I signed a release of information so I could go with another supplier. The other supplier still has not received the information from Apria even though a confirmation of receipt was sent from the Apria fax machine. Today I spent over an hour with Apria customer representatives while they transferred me to the wrong department, hung up on me, gave me nonworking phone numbers, etc., to finally be told Apria has not received the form! We deal with the Bellingham branch, which so far the folks have been nice enough to us. However, their billing department leaves much to be desired! During the initial visit, the company was provided with BOTH copies of insurance cards and identification with which to process the claim for payment. They finally submitted for one, but not the other. After repeated tries of calling them, I finally reached a human who was much less than helpful! He repeatedly kept telling me there was a balance and the insurance had paid, noting each time only one and not Medicare! It is shameful that one has to get to the point of angry to make someone finally listen....and even then it is doubtful that they will properly file for the balance. The local office and main office told me completely different pickup arrangements and corporate tried to schedule me for a last-minute pickup (and cost) when the local office scheduled it for me 2 weeks ago. I may be a forgiving kind of person as far as the billing department goes (they WERE very helpful when I brought an over-payment to their attention), but I have had a great experience so far. I have unique scheduling issues that they always accommodate and are right on when my equipment is due to be replaced. They have had to put up with challenges with my equipment, timing and physician communications and have been 100%. When calling I have always been treated kindly and professionally and so far Apria has met all my needs. Can you give a company a negative numb er? I order my supplies and from day one had problems with billing. I have 2 insurances but they ALWAYS sent me the bill before getting the second insurance coverage no matter how many times I called and went in there to straighten the bill out . Now after a year and a half (or more) they sent to collections for $15 that is THEIR FAULT? I will never order anything from them again, I will make sure I tell everyone I know (and I work in healthcare) not to utilize this company. read more

They are dishonest and wasted a lot of my time transfer an order to them. Our first interaction involved a HIPPA violation on their part and I should have never gone back. She then strung me along for a week saying she was trying to help me and everything would work out. I contacted my insurance company and understood the process we would have to take. I called the clerk at Apria again with the information. She said she is not an order taker and that she needed to talk to her supervisor. She also claimed someone in her office called my doctor for information and was told something that contradicted my wishes. That person could not remember who she talked to. The doctor's office shows no calls from anyone except me. In the end, they said they could not proceed because they would not get paid. I explained that was not true and is not what the insurance company told me. I asked to speak to the supervisor who made this decision so I could contact my insurance company to resolve the issue. The clerk rebuffed my request and repeated herself. I asked her if it what she was saying made sense to her and asked why they would lie about this. She hung up. I left a message for the supervisor but she has yet to call back. There is no corporate number to call and complain or voice concerns. read more

Same issue as others. I have seen my Dr. in person she referred me to a sleep Dr. I saw that Dr. in Person. That Dr. sent me to have a sleep study done, I did that in person. Then I get a call from Apria saying they are not seeing anyone due to Covid19 and I will be getting my equipment in the mail. I received my equipment in the mail last week and its still in the box. I was sent a mask that covers just my nose, well I sleep with my mouth open so that's not going to work. It seems my insurance is basically paying Apria for being the middle man in getting me a machine. They could save a bunch of money by cutting Apria out of the process and just have the equipment sent from a distributor to me. i have a friend at work who had a sleep study done two days after me, at the same location I had mine done. He was shocked to hear my story. He was referred to North Star in Bellingham. They saw him in person and spent 45 min with him sizing different types of masks and making sure he knew everything about the equipment he was being given. I am tired of waking up with headaches and tired of being tired so I will contact North Star and see what it would cost me out of pocket to have them help me with a proper mask and go over the machine I just got in the mail, since they are seeing patients in person. read more

All I needed to know is, if my local Apria supply office is open on a Saturday to replace a part for my CPAP. I had to call the corporate office for this. I lost over one hour listening to automated messages. The human being who finally came on the line, did not know, nor did she want to take the time fo find out. I had a very good experience with Apria (Bellingham). I called the local office with a question about returning equipment, and talked with a real person immediately who took the time to research my issue and get me the answer I needed. If you get the choice, always call the local office before talking with "corporate". The people in the Bellingham office were polite, efficient, courteous and knowledgeable. read more

TERRIBLE customer service! I am still receiving a bill and harassing phone calls in July for a bill that was paid in January by my insurance and I paid my co-pay in February as soon as I received my statement! I receive regular calls threatening collection actions! Customer service center on phone stated my bill was incorrect and new balance from March has not been paid by my insurance, but I have no claim from March pending! Asked to speak with customer service manager and was told I would be placed on hold, "while they checked to see if there is a manager in the building." REALLY? After being on hold several minutes, someone who claimed to be a manager finally came on and read the exact same script that the previous person read, and also told me that the bill I received was inaccurate. She did not have any explanation for why I was receiving a past due notice and threats for collection for a bill that has been paid in full for 5 months! Unfortunately, my insurance company has contracted with Apria for services. I will be sharing my experience with them and ask that they consider contracting with another provider for these services or I will pay a higher out of pocket to choose my own provider! read more

I recently went back to using a CPAP machine and selected the Apria office on Orchard Drive with my doctor. He sent in the order and the process began which took several steps. FIrst step was getting my medicare approval and supplemental coverage verified. Next step was to make an appointment with the local office for pickup and instruction. This process was quickly communicated to me through the Apria call center. I had no problem with getting information or asking questions. They set up my appointment with the local office. All my communications were were friendly, attentive and responsive in a timely manner. read more

If you like lots of automated menus, being put on extended and multiple holds, talking with "service" agents who either don't know what they're doing or have lousy computer systems that handicap them, having your appointments scheduled for the wrong day, not having your insurance information updated in a timely manner, and (last but not least) calling the local number but not speaking to the local office, Apria IS for you! I also was tied to Apria because of WA Group Health, and now that I'm with another insurer, I'm ecstatic not to have to deal with Apria anymore. The final straw for me was having the call center tell me she'd have to call my local office, put me on hold for way too long. Goodbye and good riddance! read more

2/6/2015 I plunged into Apria's telephone hell and abandoned it after 10-15 minutes of waiting for a human being. I then went to https://www.apriadirect.com/cpap-resupply where I completed and submitted a form requesting they contact me regarding CPAP resupply. They are supposed to respond M-F 8-5 CTZ. I am currently on my 4th business day waiting to talk to someone from Apria. I could go to the local Apria office I suppose but I should be able to tell them what I want before I go anywhere. Group Health Cooperative is my insurance provider and they are responsible for me having to use Apria in the first place. While I am generally happy with GHC, they are definitely losing points with Apria's non-service. GHC lets me order medications from their pharmacy, why can't I get CPAP supplies the same way? Apria seems to be on a downward service spiral if my experience with them over the past several years is at all typical. I definitely want to go somewhere else now. read more

Apria call center is not very responsive or competent. Contacted the "call center" several times to get a receipt for a FSA payment. Unfortunately, Apria is the only medical equipment supplier Group Health authorizes. Of the two medical providers my employer contracts with, Group Health medical is much lower in cost. So, it looks like I'm getting what I pay for: bad customer service. read more
