Apria is the worst medical company I have ever worked with. They are smart to have so many health insurance contracts because they would never survive in a competitive environment. I have NEVER gotten a correct re-supply order. Even if I call to reconfirm right before my order is shipped and ask multiple times to read back my sizes for masks and cushions and headgear. It is NEVER correct. Then I have to take my own time to call back each time to talk to customer service in the Phillipines that apologized and puts a correction in the system, only for it to be incorrect again on the next order. Changing my resupply order in the system does nothing as it is always wrong the next time. Then they have the nerve to hound me for $4 bills. I can't even pay by credit card for under $5 on their system. That's why I haven't paid. I work in medical sales and I have never met a more inept, poorly run company. If your provider has a choice between Apria and another DME supplier, always choose the other one. Tell your healthcare providers to stop working with this useless company. read more

This review is for Apria Healthcare in general. I had a CPAP machine for about 8 months through Apria 2023-2024. I decided to return the machine (not only because I couldn't get the masks to fit right, which is a general issue not them) but because of the constant calls and texts about surveys and reordering supplies. Not to mention, I am still constantly trying to talk to the billing department. I had insurance through CDPHP when I first got the machine, then I was put on medicaid through CDPHP. It's been a constant back and forth between CDPHP and Apria healthcare about billing statements. I was told about 4 times to check back in 30-45 days about my account because they were having trouble putting it through my insurance, and when I returned the machine I had a possible balance of $1,000 for their machine subscription and what not. Eventually, CDPHP told me it should be through NYS Medicaid, not CDPHP. That only worked for 2024. I currently have a balance of about $80 for 2023. I have also tried multiple times to get an itemized bill so I can talk to them and CDPHP about my account. I called them 3/19/25, and responded to their test email to confirm my email address. I sent another message 3/25/25 saying I did not receive the bill. I am now calling on 4/2/25 once again and the connection was spotty. They said they would call me back, I guess they meant at some other time because I waited 5 minutes and no one called me. So now I'm on hold for 10 minutes to talk to someone once again. I ordered a power cord for my CPAP machine and paid for it with my bank card on 12/28/2025. I made calls to the company 3 times to find out when I would receive my item. I was told they are processing the order and it will be ready for shipment. It is 1/8/2026 , I called to say I received a power cord from a local office and please cancel my order. Upon the company hearing cancelation, I was finally told that the power cord was never in stock. In good faith, I would have expected them to say we do not have the part in stock. Respectfully, I am trying to understand why the shipping cost for my recent order was more than the product? My order number was for Ultrafine Disposable Filters for ResMed AirSense 10 Series and S9 Series SKU: CF-36855-2_PK​, which cost only $9.00. However, the shipping cost paid was $9.99. What ​I originally placed this order on March 29th. After waiting over 10-days I called and was told they had a computer cliche and I had to reorder on April 9th. Fortunately, Ireceived my order via UPS yesterday, 4/11/2024. My order, two, 3-inch x 1-inch packets, was delivered in a larger than necessary UPS Mailing box stuffed with lots of paper [which no doubt added weight]. They send a new water chamber every 6 months, so I have had four so far, three have broken. I should not have to pay out of pocket because their supplies can't withstand being cleaned every day as they are supposed to be, nothing unusual outside of that that should cause them to break in less than 6 months. read more

I have had a CPAP machine for 17 years. It has not been working for over a month. My PCP sent an order for a new machine. Apria needed a copy of my sleep study. My PCP provided the sleep study. But it was not signed in the appropriate spot. So they sent it to the Doctor who read the sleep study who has still not signed it. Apria won't send me the replacement until it is signed and Dr Mohan's office won't return my calls as to why they won't sign the study they performed. This company was contact through my sleep doctor to provide me a CPAP machine. They charged me over $1,800 for a CPAP machine, heated tube, and mask. I hadn't met my deductible so I had to pay this in full. I have never used a CPAP machine and figured the upfront cost was more since I would need everything to get started. I went on Apria's own website Apriadirect.com and priced out all equipment they sent me.I found all the same equipment for $1,300 meaning I was overcharged $568. I called into the company and was told they bill insurance for everything separate and that's just how it is. They said there was nothing they could do and to contact my insurance. I contacted insurance and was told they hadn't even received a claim from Apria yet. I wonder how many other people Apria has scammed out of hundreds of dollars. read more

Hate this company with a passion. So I switched companies I worked meaning different insurance companies and my account says no balance due. Well come to find out you can't pay out of pocket for equipment it all has to be done with insurance and they tried repo my equipment with out a notice nor a reason at the time. I was pissed. I recently sent a certified letter due to unfair billing practices by APRIA. I had spoken numerous times to different agents who were of no help and my insurance agent also had correspondence with them. We have been working for months to get this issue resolved as APRIA had been mailing my claims to the incorrect address then charging my credit card and saying that Custom Design Benefits wasn't paying the claims. My insurance changed in January and so did the claims address. These claims were FINALLY submitted correctly and Custom Design Benefits has since paid these claims. Since February 2025, my card has been charged for a total of $1582.55. When I sent my letter to APRIA, I stated that I wished to revoke authorization for APRIA to keep or charge my American Express credit card and that any further charges would be disputed as unauthorized. Thankfully my card has not been charged any further, however, these charges were not in fact reversed like we were told by agent "Kurt" so essentially they have collected money from me and have also received payout from my insurance company. I consider this to be fraud. Anyone out there had any luck getting this company to reimburse you? Has anyone taken a legal avenue to combat this company for their unfair and fraudulent billing practices? I don't see how they are getting away with this. read more

Secondly they say I cannot order head gear for six months after the last representative told me three months and I am trying to order since the hose on the last headgear broke due to aged plastic. This review is for Apria company-wide. Several times a year, when insurance allows, Apria sends me replacement CPAP parts. At those times, I get a barrage of emails, calls, and texts pestering me about parts availability. Hey Apria, I can read, so one contact will suffice and I'll get back to you when I have time. They have an auto-refill plan but I don't use it because they send me stuff I don't need and forget to send me stuff I need. You have to talk to a person to get orders right. Their packaging is often ridiculous, huge boxes for very small parts and multiple shipments, not environmentally friendly. After receiving the parts, I again get a barrage of emails, calls, and texts pestering me about my amount due. Again, Apria, I can read, so one contact will suffice and I pay all my bills at once at the beginning of the month so you'll just have to wait until then. The amount due emails have a document attached that is "clickable". I have no idea what it is supposed to do as it has never once worked for me. I don't want to have to talk to a person to pay my bill because the associated chit chat and 20 questions I have to answer to confirm that I am me turn the talk into a 20-minute ordeal. I just want to pay quickly via their website but it's just as clunky as the rest of the company. I try to log in and it says my password is wrong. I click on "Forgot My Password", set up a new one, and the next time I log in, it says my password is wrong. Repeat, repeat, repeat, every time. I would switch to a different CPAP parts resupply company but this is the one my company health care plan works with so that's that. Accusing me of holding on to a piece of oxygen equipment that was a loner when I got out of the hospital on Nov 1. The next day the rental equipment was delivered and the loaner picked up. My son saw it loaded into the April truck! The rental equipment was picked up 20 days later on Nov 20, 2024. On Jan 22, 2025 they call me to say the loaner is still in my possession because GPS pinged it at my location. No way! They even sent a "technician" to my house today with no advance notice, without any obvious identification they were from Apria, in a Penske rental van. The guy got all upset about MY attitude when I told him for ID and when I told him I didn't have the equipment. When I asked if he brought anything to track the supposed GPS on the machine he had no clue what I was talking about!!! Enough Apria!!! For the last time, I don't have your machine. read more

They have the nerve to bill $3775 per month for something that can be purchased for under $2000. Oh no! Here we go again. (I have past a past review also) now on Jan 1 2022 I changed health plans, and a nice lady intervened to try and get things right for me. So I place an order in early Jan 2022. I got the order. So I called today to check if it was time for a new order and was told that I could not order because I owe Apria money. Checking further on how this could be since I paid the bill in full as it stated right away then the story changes and am told my insurance carrier didnt pay and if they dont I can be billed some inflated amount and I would have to pay. So I hate to let things linger and go from bad to worse, so I started to call around. I was told I had an "excess" payment yet again in my Apria account of $10.56. I thought how can this be if I owe them money? Not long ago I had over $200 I think it was excess money sloshing in there while still being billed in full for each new order! Then they tell me that it is now the new insurance carriers fault because they WONT pay. They threaten to send me the full bill. So I call my new insurance company and they used a term I think was pre-submit?? Anyway Apria needs to do something with them that gets the ball rolling SO THEY CAN PAY and they never do. They said they told Apria to submit multiple times and then they they will pay. I guess that is how it works. Sounded like they have a system to turn fantasy numbers into real billable dollars behind the scenes. Same with most all medical. So its APRIAs fault as nobody is doing their part to get this part taken care of. Thus I cant order. So my new insurance intervenes and calls Apria for me and they get my account unfrozen. Wow- like magic! I guess someone realized why hold a customer hostage when he paid in full as asked and even paid too much to generate another overage so at least now I can order and I dont need to worry about being held liable for Aprias failures. I cant say for certain but think this was for only a very small order, 4 or 5 nasal pillows is all but cant say for certain. I dont get itemized lists. When orders come there is just a packing list with scan bars that doesnt mean anything to the customer. Amazing how much nonsense the customer has to go through just to order. Crazy that people are made to pay through the nose for small plastic items made for pennies that only carry air...yes plain old air! I am a new patient (CHANG ZHENG XUE in Pomona, California) to join Apria for C-Pap supply purchase. Apria does not have any professional team supporting C-Pap supply insurance approval. I have been talking with Ericka Morales (specialist) and Oscar (Apria Rancho Cucamonga Office) and other call center C-Pap supply order setup and billing team agents, None of them told me who is responsible to support new patient C-Pap supply insurance approval. I have spent two months on my PPO insurance approval issue without good help. Now I know why Apria receive 1.5 star from Yelp customer review and I shall add my latest review on Yelp to let everybody know how Apria leave PPO insurance patient without any help. She got her hackles up and accused me of being overly aggressive. Which was pure BS. She's the one bothering customers at home at 8pm. Anyone who wants to work for this company should read this when inquiring for a position within this company. I have worked for Apria for more than ten years for reference. Apria recently was bought out by a bigger company, shifting its views, focuses, and procedures. I'll start with pay since that's most important to anyone seeking a job. This company wants to start employees usually around 18$ an hour. The insurance is terrible, even if you start out at a higher amount, expect raises of 3% and less yearly. They even delayed our last raise by three months, there are even stories of people reviving no raise yearly while working here. Also the promise of being able to have a promotion is non existent. The seniors are decided on simply seniority, they are not merit based, so no matter how hard you work, you cannot work yourself into those positions.Onto expectation of work. New higher management, is now expecting everyone to double their productivity. Milking these employees for every dollar they are working for, while they pay them a low wage. Procedure changes, now they have implemented an even faster cleaning process. They want you to spend less time on cleaning, sending dirtier equipment to patients we serve. Our motto used to be, "clean equipment like it is going to your family member." That is no longer the case, higher management is encouraging people to spend ten minutes on cleaning equipment when this process to do it properly can sometimes take double that time. There are increasingly more and more products leaving our distribution centers that are not preforming as well as they could be. This is the kicker, they have effectively limited overtime as much as possible. No longer can you work on the weekends, on top of this, HR changes and even creates policies out of thin air limiting you to work only ten hours a day. HR can shift policies on a whim without any precedent, they just shift with whatever favors the company over the employee. Finally, they have taken music away from all employees. You can't even have a radio while they want you to double your productivity in a loud working environment. No music, no radio, no earbuds, nothing. This has become one of the worst places to work for in the country, low pay, bad insurance, want you to work like a dog with no promise of promotion, oh and no music. I will continue to write reviews on different topics until I find a new job, or they reverse some of their decisions. If you need the use of portable tanks and not be restricted on how many they will dlv or allow you pick up avoid this. Thier manager Ms Kelly will not explain the reasons for company policy that restricts the amount of tanks you use. Shows no interest in showing why you doctor and the patients uses the amount. To me she treats you as a number to fits her needs. Tells you policy after you get something without telling when you did the same thing a week earlier. She doesn't show any interest in the custermer who is trying to be active and productive with thier lifes. I never talked to a doctor that deals with copd disease that you need to stay inside and if needed move the home unit to save your bottle oxygen usage. No concern when you need control in how many liters you need to move to a place to sit and recover. Expect you some how to leave a home unit on one level only when you need a higher level to get to a room and lower level when resting in that room. She has not right to advise you how to use oxygen because to much is a hazard and so little is also. The is between doctor and patient only, all she needs to have is a prescription and to fulfill it. The rest of the staff has been helpful for years and understand the custermer needs. Actually the advise I got from her is to go to another company. But when I wanted to years before after the 5 yrs contract they have on you that if you don't change you are stuck with them. I went from a home refillable unit and had to get bigger tanks they have to dly more which has to be more costly than a visit to check the equipment once a year. Don't try to ask for her boss phone number she refuse to give that information to me also. That is how she treats me who's delt with 29 yrs living with copd which is now over half of my life. Absolutely without a doubt the worst healthcare company or company of any type I have ever had to deal with. Over 20 phone calls, got my insurance company on the phone with them and they still have never submitted it to the insurance. They send a bill every month, have turned us over to collections, pulled it back from collections, and I am still getting phone calls asking for the name and phone number of the insurance company and asking when i will pay the bill. The people they use for customer service speak such poor English you can barely understand them and you have to tell them everything multiple times. Even all this and we are no further now then we were a year ago. I think their plan is to just wear you down so they do not have to deal with insurance. If I could core them a negative i would. But none were ever material enough to take issue with on a "time vs. value" basis, and my order was always filled. But after a telephone call I received today from their representative "Anna," I couldn't help wonder what kind of experiences others have had with Apria. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised to read they were all negative. I asked if I could come in person to pick out a mask and she went off on me. I can't seem to get service when THEY tell me. 3 Mondays I have sat at home waiting for APRIA to show up to service my units. They have called me each time to set it up but they do not show. When I call to see why not, they say they have no order. THEY CALLED ME to tell me they are coming Monday. Now I wonder if the hospital order is in effect and correct???? I also have been using the canulas and extensions for years at a time. No one shipped me extras or told me to change them every so often.(until recently) Apria wasn't too bad when it was all local, now it is worthless and service stinks. I got out of hospital on 5/14 and I'm supposed to have constant air at Level 5 when walking, working, or going to the store. Pulse will no longer do. I figured you already had that order by now AND would get me an additional travel unit that I can handle??? I can't go far with pulse refils, but they are necessary when/if I get the electric unit. The worst company with incompetent billing reps that they outsourced out and they lie through their teeth and giving you all kinds of stories and lies. Every time I call they would tell me something different. I removed myself off their autopay system but they kept billing my credit card for charges that I have NO statement of nor what I'm being billed for. Now some story about charges that happened a year ago and was told to call my previous insurance company and the numbers still don't match up to what they're saying. Also being told since I change insurance in the midst of rental through insurance before purchase which was a 10 months term with united health and I changed to Cigna that's 6 months. So Cigna paid them out the remaining 3 months term now Apria is saying due to change they forfeit all months prior and must redo the terms again as the previous term was with united health. So what happened to all the money that was paid prior??? It makes absolutely no sense as Cigna is baffled by it as well. I feel Apria is scamming people for more money. Worst company to do business with. I was a client several years ago. I needed a new CPAP machine. Saw my Doctor. He sent my prescription to Apria. I called Apria and the representative said it would be 2 - 3 months before I could get my new machine. I was not happy about that. Then I asked the representative how much the machine cost. She informed me that they only rent equipment. I said that was not an option, cancel my prescription and that I will go elsewhere. She asked for my credit card number and I said why would I give you that information when I don't intend on doing business with you. I got my new Airsense 11 a few weeks later from another provider in mid June 2022. Today, August 3, 2022, I get a charge on my bank statement from Apria for the new equipment. I called and they told me that I placed an order in June of 2022. I said that I didn't and after a while they said they would reverse the charge and they did. I asked why my old credit card was on file and used. They could not provide me with an answer. I asked for my card information to be removed from their system and that the customer representative be removed since she was not given authorization to process any order on my behalf. About 30 minutes later, I received an email saying my products have been sent out Aug. 2, 2022 and I should be receiving shortly. I then called Apria once again and while I am on the phone with Apria, Aug. 3, 2022 part of my order arrives at my home. I told the rep and she could not believe it and I was transferred to the billing department so I could get a return label. After about an hour on hold, I was hung up on. I have tried calling all of the numbers that the different Apria reps have given me only to listen to their recordings. I wish Apria would answer their phones. Let me start out by stating we also got hit with the multiple page DocuSign forms from Kim overseas. He was so hard to understand (and my husband works with people in his company all over the world) that I had to end up taking the call. He was asking some very personal questions, I did not thing was relevant to the insurance company purchasing a CPAP. Then the next day we get an email from the Supervisor of Respiratory Therapy stating OOPS Sorry that call was a mistake. Our physician sent in an order after his RT checked the equipment and found it to be defective and being 4 years 5 months old they sent an order to replace the machine. They checked with my husbands insurance and found out that it can be replaced every 3 years. However, the supervisor of billing knew better; and would not allow the purchase to continue as CPAP's are only replaced every 5 years. Did she call my husbands UHC and verify his insurance and coverage NO! She knows he insurance and its every 5 years. SO I called UHC (United Healthcare) myself through his employer and verified with a representative in the DME department that yes his CPAP is covered every 3 years. SO I called the RT Supervisor back who had the Supervisor of Billing in her office at the same time, I told them that I had just spoke with UHC, who I spoke with and that Yes his policy allows for CPAP's to be replaced every 3 years, except in the event of abuse, neglect by the patient, or the CPAP is stolen. None of these are the case. This was on Monday by the way, because on Friday I had to go to their certified repair center in Indianapolis and have the machine evaluated, they found the main PCA board was going out, the blower motor was also going out, the lid to the water chamber was broken on one side and was not sealing properly, and the user interface knob was missing. Then they added notes stating "due to the Remstar PCA boards being on indefinite backorder, there is no time frame that this unit can be repaired. This unit needs to be replaced." Now on Monday after I drover 45 minutes to and from the repair center Friday, the RT did not like this as the form they gave me was an itemization of all things wrong with the unit, and then the note at the end. She said she wanted a letter from them, not this itemization. I then told her that I was done arguing with her, with the insurance supervisor and all. We had about $1300.00 left to meet our out of pocket deductible, and one Apria Direct the Philips Resprionics Dreamstation runs around $990.00. I ask her directly is that the same price you have there in the building and she said yes they run right around $1000.00. I said then since they are giving us such a run around on this that we will just purchase the machine directly out of pocket (we would have to anyway since his deductible has not been met) and file the itemized copy of the bill directly to the insurance company ourselves. I said can you have the unit ready by 4pm? this was 1:15 pm. She said yes; and said to make sure he brings a credit card for payment, I told her he does not carry Monopoly money for such transactions, and he will have the Credit Card for payment. So he gets there about 4pm, and they want to collect are you ready for this $5,000.00 yes I said FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS. That is a 500% mark-up. He called me and ask me about this, and she the RT Supervisor claimed I am the one who set the price at less than a $1,000 and she never quoted me a price what so ever. I told him to leave there, tell her to stick her 500% mark up machine where the sun done shine, and we will just order off line. Not only did we call ApriaDirect.com and speak to a rep there, explained what we have been going through since July 26, 2018 and still no machine they gave us a 15% discount because of our troubles. It is not that difficult, and when I was speaking with the Supervisor and RT and Billing I ask for the Store Manager she immediately said he's not available. Then I ask for the assistant manager, she said that's me. umm humm. So what is the best way to get the message out...write a bad review. And state exactly what happened from start to finish. I'm going to finish with the doctor sending 2 prescriptions because the one to replace wasn't good enough they wanted one to repair also that was on 7-28-18, and then on 8-6-18 she wanted another script from the doctor requesting replacement of the CPAP that she already has on file. Totally incompetent and she is a supervisor! Supposed to be setting an example for the other staff. I used Apria for many years. In 2014, they sent a 10 page contract (I counted the pages!) printed in a tiny font with gray ink on gray paper. Buried inside this contract was authorization to release ALL of my patient's medical records to Apria--not just the records needed for purchasing the patient's medical equipment and supplies. Every pelvic and breast exam, every sore throat, every prescription and test--EVERYTHING! After calling Apria to protest the blanket release they said 1) They would not request any records unrelated to the specific order (right! and I was born yesterday!) and 2) If I did not sign the blanket release they would not sell me any equipment and supplies. Being sick and/or injured does not mean the patient forfeits his/her right to privacy! read more

This continues to be one of the worst customer experiences ever...and now they have apparently taken customer service offshore making the experience and communications even worse. My typical experience for ordering replacement CPAP equipment is this: order when insurance will allow new equipment, wait for 2 or 3 weeks and nothing shows up, call in to see where it is and told that I owe $s even though maximum out of pocket has been met, then after researching and return call, asked if I use have used machine in last 30 days then told I now need to send in SD card (to Kansas) for validation that I am using machine and then wait more time for the order to get approved or and this is just as likely, I will have to call them to make sure they have read the card. When you send equipment that isn't working properly and I'm placed on hold for 25 minutes only to be told that an adequate response cannot be attained within a reasonable amount of time, supposedly due to a lack of product availability from the manufacturer, there's a problem with effective management and customer service: gravity feed bags are as common as the sun rising in the east. If a company can't provide what's needed, be proactive and find an acceptable alternative. I'll be sure to notify the insurance carrier of this problem so that it isn't billed incorrectly. read more
