I needed some flowers at the last minute but wanted something nicer than flowers from the grocery store. It was an OSU home game day and I stopped by another place which was apparently closed and had their parking lot used for game day parking instead. So April's Flowers and Gifts has parking in the front of the building, along the side, and some spaces in the back. There's a sign out from reiterating that parking is for their customers because on OSU game day, people will try to park there and leave. There was so much to see! Lots of gifts (flowers, scarves) on racks and the walls. It was a bit overwhelming. To the left of the cashier is a refrigerated area for the flowers. they had bouquets and some flowers in vases for grab and go service. It looked like they also offer helium balloons but I could be misremembering. The cashier area has a donation jar for cat charities. The person who rang up my flowers was just the nicest! She also packaged the vase and flowers in a cardboard box with tissue paper for easier transport. read more

I told her my moms favorite colors and she hooked me up with a lovely bouquet. I got my girl friend some the week prior. When looking for a flower bouquet for Valentine's Day I wanted a local florist not those online companies and came across April's. They have a website which you can browse to see their extensive selection of bouquets. You can order them online for delivery, but I didn't see an option to order online for pickup. A quick call to the store, though, and I asked to order one of the arrangements I'd seen online for pickup the following week. No problem! A week later I went to the store in person. There's a small parking lot in front and quite a few spaces in a lot on the side as well. Inside they have a large selection of gifts (many cat-themed) and plants and two small coolers with flowers inside. There are supposed to be store cats roaming about as well, but they must've been shy that day. There was a small line since it was Valentine's Day, but there were several staff working thus the line moved fast. My order was ready and was just what I'd asked for. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bouquet looked and smelled great. It was nicely arranged in a vase, and the whole thing was well-packaged in a way that made it easy to take in the car. The only perhaps small point is that they don't have a ton of flowers per se in the store. Probably 75% of the store consists of plants and gift items. But they do have tons of flowers on their website, though, so it might be worthwhile to spend some time browsing that then call in your order. Overall this seemed like a great local florist/gift shop with friendly staff, and the bouquet they prepared was far better than those you order from Proflowers, etc. online. read more

I have used April's Flowers for many years and for many different occasions. However, recently I called April with an emergency request. I had just received a phone call saying my best and dearest friend was dying in Cleveland. I called April in a panic and asked her to send a special arrangement to my friend so she would know I was praying and sending my love. It was 4:00pm on a Friday and I needed it to my friend by Saturday before she passed. April calmly assured me she would make it happen. I got a call on Saturday from my friend's daughter saying the flowers had arrived and my friend saw them and knew who sent them. She passed several hours later. April is a consummate professional always able to complete an order beyond what the customer asks for or expects. I highly recommend this shop to anyone wanting an outstanding florist. Wow- what a friendly place!! I popped in the other day to get some flowers and was very honest about what I could (and could not) spend. April (the owner) greeted me with a smile, dropped what she was doing and offered to create a bouquet for me on the spot (rather than me coming back later). I was looking something with more of a vintage look (ie., popular flowers from the 40's- yes I know this sounds bizarre) and she knew exactly what to do and within 5 minutes had created the most lovely arrangement. The shop itself is full of great stuff and I could have stayed much longer just browsing. I highly recommend this place as they are very appreciative of you as the customer given the amount of flower shops in the area that you could have chosen. read more

I met with the owner April about three times before the big day. She didn't mind meeting with me multiple times after our initial meeting to put a high strung bride at ease. What really sets this place apart is the time April put into discussing the small details and really getting to know what I, the client really wanted. She seemed to be an old pro at asking the right questions to get a feel for my flower arrangement vision. All this time payed off. I stopped here on a whim the other day to see if she had any houseplants for my new swanky office with a window. Big disclaimer here - I tend to kill houseplants. I killed a cactus. Not good. Anyway, I believe anyone can learn to do anything, so I thought I would give it another shot. I told her as much when I walked in. She was so helpful, and she had a lot of suggestions. I honestly felt I learned so much in just a few short minutes. This is someone who knows her plants very very well. I live in northeast Ohio and have been ordering flowers for various occasions from Columbus florists for my daughter who lives there. I've done this for 7 years. I have tried FTD, Pro Flowers, Telaflora and calling directly to several local florists all of whom have disappointed me tremendously. It seemed the more I tried to pay the smaller the arrangements became. I have spent up to $100.00 and could count the flowers on one hand. I contacted April's Flowers, explained my previous experiences and placed my order. They did an AMAZING job!!! My daughter's comment was the arrangement is "huge and beautiful!" I am sooo pleased.
