Came here because it looked unique due to the fact you hit your balls into the water. There were two of us just out for a bit of fun and when I inquired about sharing a large bucket, as we would do at a normal range, the owner said it's not allowed to share and would instead be a bucket per person. In other words, a slimy up charge. I didn't have my clubs so they offered to rent me some irons, $7.50 per person. These clubs looked heavily used from the 80s and were beat! As others have mentioned, the mats are worn and uneven, it could use a major update. The worst part is as I was paying, the owner guilted me into adding a few extra dollars for a "tip". Not sure what he did to deserve one but tipping culture has def reached its peak if they are pushing for tips at this place. Unreal!! Two small buckets and two iron rentals (drivers are additional) came out to $50+. I'll go to TopGolf next time for similar pricing but a better experience. read more

In terrible disarray. Mats are worn, balls are mostly waterlogged, and it doesn't look like anything has been updated here since the 90s. The only recent update has been the price of buckets, which makes this driving range no longer worth it. A pity, as this location would have amazing potential under the right ownership. Been going here for years, and while there are other ranges, this one stands out as very unique. There are just a handful of aqua ranges across the country. Just a great atmosphere at night, covered up so you never have to worry about rain. The staff and management the last time i was there was great. My boyfriend is a golf fanatic so we knew we had to do something golf-related when we vacationed in Fort Lauderdale for the first time. He had heard of Aqua Golf before so we wanted to give it a try. This place is also known for hosting a scene in There's Something About Mary, so many people come for that reason too. Not really a place for serious golfers, but a nice place to have fun. Hitting into the water is just fun! The owner/shop attendants were very friendly and helpful, and the prices were good too. I would definitely recommend for a casual outing with friends and family. If you're looking for a quality venue, you'll probably find that the mats and the balls are pretty old, and the putting green needs some work. Side note: There's also a little area for car washing which was random but nice - from the other reviews, it sounds like the staff may help you do that (we didn't take advantage of this, so I'm not sure if that's the case) read more

I am a huge fan of aqua golf. Yes it's a "Something about Mary" course. Yes its right off 95. And yeah sure it's fun to blast balls into water instead of a sketchy fairway. But what makes this place a great place just to hang out is the overt peacefulness of it. It's a covered area so no matter the time of year its not too hot. The couple guys that run the place are as old school as you would want, grabbing a bear for Ya when you like and having all the buckets ready when you want. The one of wine glasses they have give another facet to chillin by the lake and working on your shot as well. If I lived closer I may stop in every other week to grab a beer, shoot the smack and hit a few balls in to the lake. For now I'm glad to make it down whenever I can make it down to Hallandale west. read more

I wouldn't call it Pembroke Pines. It's more like Hallandale Beach. My family and I recently went. It's pretty cheap and I love how unique it feels to Florida. There's Something About Mary was filmed there. It could use some tables and seating, but all in all, we had a great time and will be back. read more

As seen on TV (well, the big screen first. then tv) Aqua Golf is the location for the driving range scene in "There's Something About Mary". The concept at AG is just that. Hit floating golf balls into the water. Targets are places around the lake to aide your precision shooting. For me, it's really what appeals to my liking. The venue itself is old. It doesn't look like it's been renovated. Ever. Music blares from a radio that looks like it's from the 80s. The lawn chairs behind the bays look like those would be placed in my grandmother's backyard. Maybe the "retro" has an appeal to some. To me, it's just there. I'd like for it to be updated. Perhaps more fans in the covered bays to help battle the heat. The covering is simply not enough. I spent 45 minutes at 11a & I was done. For my birthday, I had wanted to try something different so I got a Groupon deal at $6.50 for an XL bucket and a drink. We still paid an extra $1 for the bay. I wasn't used to that. For an XL bucket, I managed to get through it easily. I'm not serious about my golf game. If I'm not sharing, I tend to fatigue with a L bucket at another venue. Regardless, it's still a cool (not literally) experience. I'll certainly come back for more target practice. read more

However this charming little short range spot has been around long before Ted and Mary stepped foot onto its luscious green synthetic grass pads. The range has about 50 years of history in it, and it shows its age in a slightly run-down, yet charming, way. My girlfriend and I purchased a groupon that included a free beer and free large bucket of balls. For 3 bucks extra you get unlimited club rentals too! The owners were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. One of the staff came out for a good 20 min to coach us on our form, which was in more need of improvement than the grounds are. This driving is small with a part covered and part open range in where you hit floating golf balls into a 300 yard pond filled with little targets that you can hit. Somehow, I could not get rid of a vicious right slice that was plaguing my swings all day, but I did manage to get some great distance on them even though I was unable to hit any of the targets. There is so much to like about this place from the fact that they let you bring your own beer, rent clubs all day, offer coaching advice, and have a ton of stuff you can purchase from their shop. The prices are reasonable and the owner gave my gf the groupon discount even though her groupon wasn't working! I've been to other golf ranges before and never felt as welcomed as I did at this place. If you're looking to whack a bunch of balls into a target filled pond for an afternoon, or just looking to stand on the same ground Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz stood on, I recommend coming here and enjoying a day of fun filled golf swings! read more

I absolutely love it here. I bring all my friends (the owner who runs it recognizes me already). It is the only stand alone range in Florida, facing a lake full of targets. It's super affordable, since I don't have my own clubs (yet) I rent them there for $3. The owner is very cool and fits you with the appropriate sized club so you have a better swinging experience. I believe the total you spend there with purchasing the basket of balls, club rental and lane rental is like $15 max.. If you bring your own clubs it's cheaper. It's open late so you can either enjoy an early morning swing or sunset experience. They sell beer and wine there but you can bring your own little cooler if you'd like as well. What I like about this range is that there is no dress code. You can come comfortable, in shorts and a regular thirty if you'd like and just enjoy a very laid back experience. I personally think it provides a fun date atmosphere if you are looking to try something new. read more

I guess I would classify this as a dive. It's got some charm to it, and the people are very friendly, bit it's definitely in need of some TLC. We got the largest sized bucket of balls for $10. You hit right into the lake. I asked how they get them out of there, and apparently they go out in a boat a few times a day with a net and fish them out! They are quite proud to be one of the last independent driving ranges...I just wish they'd give it a little more maintenance. If it was closer to my home, I'd go back, because I agree with the other reviewers. If you need a place to hit balls, it works! read more

This place was a total disappointment. The entire establishment is totally rundown. There is nothing appealing about it. Ok, there was a movie filmed here once. But that was 22 years ago. Groupon 27 dollars for a 60 minute golf lesson. I had a bad feeling when I made the call. There was no golf lesson provided of any type. What I received was an swing practice drill. Also, I was ripped off for paying another 21 dollars for a bucket of golf balls. I only received a second bucket because I didn't want to pay for it. I get a sales pitch to buy a video swing analysis and a discounted follow-up lessons. When I didn't bite, I am offered in the parking a discount card for future lessons and buckets. The ONLY good thing about this place is the cheap deal they are currently offering on Groupon, 2 "XL" buckets and a free beer for $11. "XL" is such an understatement, the buckets are the same size as sand buckets for kids to play with at the beach. The place is super tiny (maybe 15 bays), in a shady neighborhood, has barely any lighting whatsoever, and is in terrible condition. I don't think they've ever tidied up or updated anything, EVERYTHING IS WORN OUT. The green mats/turf was so crappy that all of our clubs are now marked up and need to be professionally cleaned. We got a good laugh because we genuinely thought it was going to be a nice night out at the driving range. Oh, and you have to pay an additional $1 fee per person for maintenance/parking.
