I am 59 and went in to see how I could correct my vision. Dr Gdih recommend RLE. I had the surgery and my vision is amazing for distance and reading. I've worn glasses and contact lenses since I was in high school and have surrendered to the fact that I will always be wearing a pair. The moment I was recommended to Dr Gdih for consultation on my eye condition, the result came back that I will be needing cataract surgery, however, there was two options: 1. Option 1 was the normal cataract surgery with the normal lens replacement at no cost 2. Option 2 was a cataract surgery a special lens replacement that may correct my vision with a cost Dr Gdih really explained the two options to me and I chose Option 2. I went for the surgery and I felt that he really took care of me. He made the surgery really comfortable. The surgery for both eyes was one week apart. Just hours after surgery, I can notice may vision getting clear. The recovery went well and my experience was that Dr. Gdih took really good care of me through the process and until now. I now have the freedom from my high indexed glasses and am always amazed of not having the need to wear glasses most of the time. Although I still have to use the occasional readers when using the computer and reading small fonts - it's a small sacrifice for the freedom Aqua i Laser and Dr Gdih had given me. I waited for 1 1/2 years to get cataract surgery. Each time I had an appointment I had at least a 2 hour wait. Dr. Turk was very pleasant and recommended the refractive lens since I did not need glasses after a lasik surgery about 30 years ago. In early November I had my right eye done with a clear lens and had an improvement to what it was before cataracts. At the end of November, I had my left eye done...formerly my lasik eye that had my good distance vision. I had been able to read captions on t.v. without a problem. Dr. Turk said that refractive lens would be best if I didn't want to wear glasses. Well, it's been over 6 months since the surgery and my left eye is worse than before the surgery. The captions on t.v. are not readable and he is willing to give me a prescription for glasses! Several of the staff there who tested my eyes were very reassuring and said my eye would require a quick tweak and since I paid $2500 for the better lens that Dr.Turk could have it improved in a couple of minutes. He told me over a month ago to wait for a call which has not come. So I can't even read the score on playoff games. It seems like he just wants me to go away now that he has my money. He got such great reviews that I guess mine won't make much of a difference, but if 5 minutes of his time isn't worth improving my vision and was able to be done right at the office (after I waited over 2 hours to see him), I am angry and disappointed. read more

I had Refractive Lens Exchange surgery with Dr. G Gdih a few months ago at Aqua I Laser in Winnipeg. My vision had been slowly deteriorating over the past several decades and I was tired and frustrated with wearing glasses. The surgery was painless and took less than an hour and I could see without glasses immediately. Over the past 2 months I have never had to put in glasses to read, drive or do tasks. The procedure is absolutely amazing and exceeded my expectations. I did a lot of research on ophthalmologists prior to making an appointment with Dr G Gdih. His active research practise as well as teaching future ophthalmologists and his surgical practice at several hospitals were critical factors in my decision. As well, he is a specialist in RLE here in Winnipeg which meant I did not have to travel to have the procedure done. What I did not expect was his excellent " bedside manner". He is personable, intelligent thoughtful and kind. He genuinely cares about his patients. The follow up appointments were very thorough with careful testing to ensure everything was perfect. I cannot say enough good things about this procedure and about Dr. Gdih. The best gift I have ever given myself was my decision to go through with the RLE surgery with Dr. Gdih. Cristina S This year I had the privilege to meet Dr. Gdih and discuss possible treatment/surgery procedures available to me in order to correct both distance and reading vision issues. I have Myopia and Astigmatism which could not be corrected with laser surgery but however was a candidate for Bilateral RLE surgery (Refractive Lens Exchange). I had the procedure done in both eyes April, 2019 . Procedure went smoothly and Dr. Gdih and his team were/ are amazing! Dr. Gdih personally made sure that all questions were answered and that the full procedure was explained prior and during surgery. I have never experienced in my life time such professionalism and great personal care that was given to me during and after this procedure. Refractive Lens exchange and Dr. Gdih Gdih Two years ago, I started to wear glasses for both distance and for reading. The distance glasses were not compatible with my active lifestyle, so I tried contact lens but could not get use to them. I heard about Refractive Lens Exchange procedure being offered in Ontario and so I flew to one of the clinics there. I was concerned about the flight back after the surgery or to have a recovery time not at home. When I got back to Winnipeg I google "the best ophthalmologist in Winnipeg" and found Dr. Gdih, and he also performs Refractive Lens Exchanges (I mentioned this fact to Dr. Gdih after my second operation, but he being most humble, preferred to simply know how my vision was now, not how good his rating is). I made appointment with Dr. Gdih and he explained with detail my options based on my age, type of eye correction I was looking for, and lifestyle. He recommended Refractive Lens Exchange vs other procedures. Dr. Gdih was calm, clear and answered all my questions. I felt ready and eager to have the operations in spite of the fact I have a fear of any medical procedures! I chose to do one eye at the time with a local anesthetic and pill to feel relaxed and comfortable After the operation my vision improved but for a few weeks I experienced issues with light sensitivities, headaches and some swelling of my eyelid. During this time, I was in communication with Stephanie who scheduled an additional appointment to see Dr Gdih to confirm my eye was good. January 17th, 2019 was my second operation and remembered how stressed out I was the first time, I chose to have the IV instead of the pill. The operation went very smoothly (with the IV-medication I felt more relaxed), after the operation I experienced no eyelid swelling, no light sensitivity, and no headache...NADA! I saw Dr Gdih the same day and my vison was perfect (read the 20\20 line easily). I am scheduled to see Dr. Gdih again in 2-month time to polish any scar tissue that may exist. On March 22/17 I stepped into the Aqua I Laser, the newest, state of the art clinic and had laser surgery on both of my eyes, performed by Dr. Gdih. The facility is gorgeous and the staff are very kind, supportive and knowledgeable! I had prior consults at two other reputable laser clinics before I decided that the new flapless, touchless procedure was for me. Dr. Gdih is a perfectionist with an amazing bedside manner! He even gave me his cell number and told me I could contact him 24/7. The actual procedure was painless and only took one minute per eye. it was done without sedation and they allowed my Mom in the room. He fitted me with contacts to protect my corneas and assist with the healing. I wore them for the first five days. I was very closely followed for the next few days/weeks My eyes did feel tender and dry for the first couple of days but the eye drops with freezing really helped! Also my vision was blurry for a few days and sensitive to light. I wore sun glasses and had the lights low. Don't be intimidated, these are all normal after effects of the surgery and small inconveniences for the gift of sight!! Plus, the staff did prepare me for that at the consultation appointment. I've been wearing eyeglasses for almost 21 years and without those vision aids I'm legally blind. Good thing, Dr. Gdih introduced the Trans PRK procedure. I had my surgery (touchless and painless procedure) a month ago and the result was totally amazing. I'm seeing 20/20 both eyes now and my activities went back to normal compared to my everyday life when I'm using those eyeglasses and contact lens. Dr. Gdih is very compassionate to all his patients.
