Booked a charter on Black Friday morning with a group of 18. Contacted Houston and booked it through him. I'm not sure if he was the owner or just a booking manager but he was not on our trip as we went off with Captain Mike and Donnie the deck hand. I will say this, Captain Mike was kind of a jerk. He didn't know we had 18 coming. I think he only thought there was 12. But I'm not sure why he would be frustrated with this. I had to pay him in cash the remainder and he didn't know the remaining balance either. After that was takin care of he was just sour saying the waters not good, too much wind, etc etc. Start with a positive note! Donnie on the other hand is the man! Cheerful and talkative and super helpful. Set all our lines up, cut the fish up and threw all lines out. We were able to land a huge redfish within 30 minutes out in the jetty. Now this is where an issue we had come in. We are all from out of state, Houston and the website addressed that we all just have fishing licenses and when we do get the red drum tag. We did it all online since we are from out of town. However we didn't get physical red drum tags. So we weren't able to keep any fish. This is where Captain Mike turns around and felt our frustration. He tried his best to figure out this scenario for us but in the end we didn't have physical tags and it didn't work out. So we decided to catch and release. Caught another big one had a good time and rush reeling it in. Got back to dock, tipped Donny who was the man and Captain Mike for trying his best for us even after a grumpy start. I would book them again. Our family scheduled an afternoon to disperse the ashes of a family member who recently passed away from pancreatic cancer. The place is a bit hard to find. The GPS will take you to parking lot 21, but they are closer to lot 20. After you park, you have to walk behind a restaurant and it will be on your left. I was disappointed because we had family, friends, and a minister come at 4:45 PM (total of 18 people) and the ship's captain asked if we wanted to reschedule because they were running behind. We were upset, because we all live over 1 hour from Galveston and had to make special arrangements to be here at the same time. After we told the captain that we didn't want to reschedule, he said that it was likely going to be a 30 to 1 hour wait. As a company, this is totally unacceptable given the nature and purpose of the event. What is already a mournful day has turned sour due to the company's inability to give us a courtesy call that they were running late and may not be able to fulfill our loved one's final wishes of having his ashes poured into the bay. read more

Cap'n Paul will do his level best to put you on the fish, and if your trip is cancelled (dammitalltohell, Tropical Storm Bill '15 it was SNAPPER SEASON you stupid storm) they'll work with you to reschedule if possible, and if not refund your full purchase price immediately. We've fished with them twice (both as private charters on the Island Girl) on 9 hour blue water trips, and had great experiences both times. The mate on our first trip was amazing and my kids still talk about him 16 years later (shout out, Too Tall!!). The second trip was seamless and again, the mate did a bangup job of not letting my two girls feel squeamish about bait OR asking for help. (Sorry I don't remember your name.) This is not luxxxxxxury fishing with marlin chairs and champagne (I mean, I guess it could be if I packed it in a plastic bottle?), it's damned good fishing with a damned good crew at a price that is MORE than reasonable, all things considered. Paul knows how to hire, for sure. The hipbone bruises I earned (digging a rod into your hip for fun-as-heck-to-catch kingfish or shark will do that!), the memories of my then 8yo son bringing in his first shark to the CHEERS of a crew on an offshore oil rig, and the absolutely amazing haul of snapper (red and stupid-delicious mangrove/mango?) my then-13yo daughter brought in... Is there a price on that? Is there a definition of "luxury" that outweighs those things? Nope. If you're waffling, do it. Just DO it. And remember the sunscreen, water, Benadryl/Dramamine for that one "I never get seasick!" person. You won't regret it. read more

Captain Cody and First Mate Donnie were awesome. I searched for offshore fishing and settled on Aqua Safari and "Island Girl". I am so glad I did. Capt. Cody started us off with a prayer and took us out for a great day of fishing. Donnie was a nonstop workhorse. We had a full trip of 18 fishing, however, the seas were a little choppy so not everyone was well enough to fish. WARNING--if you are prone to motion sickness take the appropriate precautions. Regardless, I enjoyed being on a smaller boat vs the 80-100 person trips. I highly recommend Captain Cody and Aqua Safari, we caught our limit on Snapper and were able to fish for the "Big One". This was definitely an experience you don't want to miss! My family and I took out the All day (9 hour) fishing charter while on vacation. The boat was a bit cramped for 18 people, 10 would be ideal so if you can rent out the whole boat I would suggest you do so, but there was plenty of fish to go around. Our deck hand Danny was AMAZING and was so full of information and always there to help! I would request him on any trip you have because he definitely made the experience better than any other! Captain Paul knows where all of the good fishing spots are and had bait in the water as soon as we hit our fishing spot. We went on the 9 1/2 hour deep sea trip on May 16, 2018 with Capt. Paul and Donnie. The day far exceeded any of our expectations! We didn't have lines in the water 10 minutes before catching fish! Captain Paul and Cody are great guys. We brought a party of 12 out for a 9 1/2 hour deep sea fishing private charter and we were definitely not disappointed. We caught King, Angel Fish, Mangrove Snapper and Red Snapper. We were catching fishing left and right. Aqua Safari Charters is one of the best deep sea fishing experience I've had and I would recommend them as well as use them again.
