My Granddaughter has attended this club since its inception and the class appears to be the highlight of her week. She loves it and it is sometimes an effort for her mother to get her out of her karate suit. (The Karate Kids have there own gi and logo). Each class gently introduces young children to the discipline and self control required in Martial Arts, through five fun eight minute sessions designed to maintain the child's attention. The Karate Kidz have their own belt system and the gradings which are sympathetically done gives the child a sense of achievement without pressure.

So even bus users who have no car can get to the gym so really no excuse not to go with all the + points, I usually not bothered with gyms usually too many negitives like hard to get too or only peak or off peak times or expensive lengthy contracts or too small. I raised this with a member of staff and astonishingly they told me that management had cut the hours of the cleaners leaving the gym trainers to do the rest! So if mid workout your personal trainer needs to nip into the gents to change a toilet roll holder that's empty (they're often empty nowadays) don't be surprised! These little penny pinching ideas probably excite the accountants and boost bonuses for the execs but they demotivate the gym staff, annoy the gym members and generally result in a poor experience for both staff and customers.

You have to be a member to use the facilities but they have quite a wide choice of membership options so you should be able to find one to suit your time and budget. It is a trendy glass-fronted building and inside everything is kept immaculately clean. The changing areas are tastefully done and well equipped with hairdryers etc, but there are not that many private cubicles so be warned. The pool area is divided into slow and fast lane areas and at times during the day is open to children to use, or used for aqua classes. Surrounding the pool are three spas, saunas and a steam room. It is very light and spacious and there is a very calm and relaxed atmosphere. Great to unwind after a long day. Upstairs there is a fully equipped weights room and cardio room. It also has a fitness studio with a fantastic range of classes. I have tried most of them and have now got my favourites. The great thing is that you get all sorts of people there; male and female, young and old, all different sizes! So you should never feel out of place. The only thing is that the classes are very popular and you often have to book up the week beforehand to avoid disappointment. If you are thinking you need to get into shape or de-stress somewhere then Greens can offer you a great place to do so.

I have been a member at Green's Health & Fitness for four years now and have finally had enough…read more The good points: The facilities are above average, with a decent cardio, resistance and weights section in the gym, and the pool, sauna, steam and ice room aren't bad either. The bad points: It is not at all good value for money. As of 13/03/2011 my peak membership (any time any day) is £59.50 per month, and this has significantly increased since I joined (regardless of the recession), and I really do not see where the money goes! Since I have been a member I have seen two new rowing machines and a machine that nobody knows what it does or how to use it! The shower area is not particularly clean (with mould growing on the roof tiles). There is regularly either the sauna, steam room or a jacuzzi out of action at any one time (either they are very unreliable or they turn them off and out of order to save on costs near the end of the month). They increased the car park size which was good, however in the process removed any way cyclists could enter - Cyclists either had to illegally ridge over a hatched bit of road then mount the sharp kerb against the flow of traffic (on a busy road), or ride on the pavement (also illegal) or ride up the the entry barrier, get off the bike, limbo under the barrier and get back on! As an organisation encouraging health and fitness, it would be common sense to promote the use of a bicycle to get to and from the gym rather than driving! This was mentioned to the management and nothing ever came of it. Unfortunately what pushed me over the edge to leave the Green's was the management and their lack of care for members. Whilst operating the wall light switch on the poolside w/c I was elecrocuted by a mains electric shock due to a wet and rusty light switch (this should have been an automatic light switch, or a waterproof/pull switch). I mentioned this to the management and they said 'we'll look into it'. A month later nothing was done so I mentioned it again and still, 3 months after I mentioned it nothing has been done. It's a shame that my £59.50 a month membership cannot go towards a new switch and that the £20 or so they will save is more important than memebers getting mains electric shocks. I would seriously warn anyone from joining Green's as they do not care for members

As you walk in, you see an open space with tables-there is a cafe in this part of the centre. To your left is the pool, and gym, and to your right, the studio (For things like martial arts training) and the sports hall. All activities seem to be average value for money, but you can buy passes and get deals to make it cheaper if you go regularly. There is ample free parking on site.

There seems to be quite a few negative reviews for the Sportspark, which surprises me somewhat as…read moreit's probably the best sports centre I've used. I was a regular user of the gym, on a £30 per month Gold Membership, which entitled me to use whenever I wanted it. I mainly use the running machines, of which there are 10-12, as well as cross trainers (same again) and rowing machines. I found I could get in after work and get on a machine mostly as soon as I arrived, which isn't too shoddy considering it's a well used gym. I also liked to use the weights machines, which if you chose tactically could provide a good workout. Sure, it gets busy, but compared to some London gyms I've been to where I've paid £40+ per month, it's positively breezy. As well as the gym, the Sportspark has a fantastic climbing wall, two 25m (or sometimes 1 50m) swimming pools, indoor games areas for badminton etc, a martial arts and dance studio, an amazing gymnastics facility, an outdoor athletics area and outdoor games area, squash courts and a neat little cafe/bar. Prices are good if you're a member and they often run introduction courses to activities which are particularly good value. There's also the popular free circuit training on a Monday and Tuesday lunchtime which is a fantastic little workout! I've used quite the place quite a bit, having used the gym and pool regularly, as well as going on squash and climbing courses (as well as subsequently using these facilities independently), done Taekwondo with the Saracens club, played badminton with friends, done athletics with the Circuit training people and I'm currently doing a gymnastics course at their new gymnasium (!). I've found the staff are courteous and eager to help, the wet and dry locker rooms have been clean every time I've used them and in general I've grown to love the place. I'm sorry that some people have had bad experiences, but in terms of value for money and facilities available, the Sportspark is amazing and I love that it's just a short cycle from my home.
