My god-mother's friend suggested King Ahiram. The place is just a take-out place with an adjoining room with tables and chairs where you can have a "sit-down" meal. So we ended up ordering a selection of items. I don't know. I am used to going to Little Arabia for my middle eastern food here in southern California and my favorite place in Brisbane is Nono's and omg.... the food here was kinda on the dismal side. I felt really bad that my parents and god-parents had to sit through a different cuisine which I've been touting as so fabulously delicious only to be faced with really sub-par Mediterranean food. We had falafels, hummus, babaghanoush, kebabs, these crescent pastry things which looked like empanadas -- everything was mediocre at best. The meat was dry, the dips needed more olive oil.... falafels were hard as rocks. Tabouleh was flavorless. I never heard the end of it after the meal, even from my son who is an avid fan of this cuisine. We are definitely going back to Nono's next time.

It's only when you really take notice that you see King Ahiram's name on there. So yeah, until I paid closer attention when I decided to review it, this place was always known to me and everyone I know as 'the Lebanese place'. I guess the point I'm making is that at a place like this the name is unimportant. The food is tasty, cheap, and a bit on the greasy side so it ticks all the boxes for hungry youths. I wouldn't go here expecting a gourmet meal, but for the prices and the convenience it's worth munching on a felafel kebab or cabbage roll. 'The Lebanese place' might not be fit for a King despite its namesake, but it's definitely fit for a starving student.

My group of friends ordered around 6:30pm and their food arrived around 6:40pm. As their food is being delivered to our table by the staff, the tzatziki dip came off the tray, landed on the floor and exploded upwards, putting tzatziki splatter on our clothes and bags. The staff apologised and gave us rags to clean ourselves. After 30minutes at 6:53pm, my phone gave me a push notification to say my food was ready. I ordered a chicken snack and a chicken salad. The snack pack was nice, but the chicken in the salad was cold. I will not be going back to the Yiros Shop South Bank. I can't wait 30 minutes for an online order and I don't want to to put my bag through the wash again.

We sat down at at a side table after being told we couldn't sit where we wanted because there was a large group coming later. We came as a party of 15 and it did stretch the staff but delays were tolerable. Food was excellent - the presentation was 5 star and great quality - excellent meal had by all. Make sure you ask about portion size as some are bigger and some are smaller than norm. The restaurant is open and bright with soft colours, the atmosphere is pleasant. Full table service is provided by the friendly staff and you are able to dine indoors or alfresco. My favourite dish is the Cheese Saganaki, a delicate slice of grilled haloumi cheese which is served with fresh tzatziki dip, warm pita bread and a fresh garden salad. I love the squeak of the haloumi cheese and the added tang from a drizzle of lemon juice. The prices are very reasonable and you can pay cash or card. If you are heading to Vageli's for breakfast on the weekend it is best to book ahead - they are famous for the breakfast menu and have won the 'Best Breakfast Restaurant in Brisbane Award' four years running!
