This review pertains to the group's in-house pharmacist named Melissa. She has been an absolute wonder to deal with and has been so incredibly helpful in finding and procuring grants and financial assistance for the outrageously expensive medication that Dr. Levy prescribed. After a VERY hefty initial co-pay of well over $2300.00, I've had no further out of pocket expenses for these meds, thanks to the tireless and persistent efforts of this young woman. Between Dr. Levy & Melissa, I couldn't possibly more strongly recommend this practice for those needing it.

I came here several times a week for radiation and many, many other visits before and after . I was also impatient for a while and was never in such a comfortable and well attended hospital room. New gleaming hardwood floors and extra room and furniture for guests. They have free valet parking for patients and a super comfortable waiting / lounge area with a piano player on occasion. I love this place and can't say enough about the entire oncology teams and their support team (s).

I am here weekly/bi weekly & from the minute I pull up in my car & the valet guys or girls take my car to me walking in the door to the center, I feel the love, compassion & hope! Every Doctor, nurse, pa, medical assistant down to the girls at the main desks, EVERYONE is truly wonderful. It sucks to be going through such a sh!tty journey, but feel so blessed to be going to such an amazing place for treatment. I have no anxiety or fear any longer when I come here, I simply feel love & compassion!

My doctor sent me to another, that one to a third. At some point a course of treatment was elected. I had surgery and they cut things out of me. They moved stuff around too fix the empty space. I couldn't move around easily for a while. I started healing. Then the doctors got evil. They sent me for chemo. To make sure 'we kill any we might have missed.' That's where Smilow came in. They pumped me full of stuff. My bones hurt. My skin hurt. I felt sick to my stomach...you know what I mean. But that's where the staff there made a difference. They were kind. Helpful. Gentle. They treated me as a human, but they didn't pity me. They ALL, from the receptionist to the guy with the mop seemed to understand how hard this was, how every week it was harder and harder for new to submit myself to what I knew was going to hurt. She was friendly and answered all my questions. Her office assistant (Alison?) was also very nice and helpful. In the hospital, again she was friendly, reassuring, relaxed. It was as good an experience as I could have asked for. I recommend her wholeheartedly.

Here we go, So this review is going to be a bit long because…read morethere is a lot to say about this hospital. For all who don't know this is a cancer hospital. Yes, the big C. I have a positive review however there were some negatives along the way of this long journey. I'm glad to say I'm now cancer-free. Yippie. Let's start with the administrative office. There was a rep there by the name of Yolanda. She helped me in so many ways when I thought at one point I couldn't move forward she coached me & got me through it. May God be the glory. I have to give thanks to my breast doctor. Dr. Moo, my reconstruction surgeon Dr. Coriddi, my oncologist Dr. Brochway, and Meredith - the social worker. Amazing doctor through Radiation, chemo twice, and 6 surgeries. It's over. I'm free. I am here to see 50 years old. I'm celebrating life, optimistic, and moving forward. If you have family and friends that were diagnosed take them to Sloan Kettering. It's a great hospital.

Also, every time I go, the secretaries tell me that my appointment is a different day/time. EVERY TIME I GO! So then I am left with waiting 1.5 hours for a bus ride home, for I cannot drive. They are unorganized, so I stopped going there and switched to Stony Brook Hospital Hematologists. I first tried seeing Dr. Yelda Nouri. She quickly stated something briefly. Then she rushed me out the door. I tried to ask some questions. She replied in about five words. Then she left the room to make more money by seeing more patients. She does not care about patient's health; works only for money. Dr. Nawaz is brilliant and kind, yet runs 45-60 minutes late. The Patchogue location has poor quality sensors for the water to turn on in the restrooms. The water turned on for only one second, off four seconds; on again for one second; then no more water at all from the faucet. I have never experienced such poor water sensors before. I almost began to bleed caused by so-called blood specialists. They seem to have no idea what causes eczema. My fingers within two minutes became cracked, peeling and almost bleeding from this location. Patients with eczema, beware. In general, NY Cancer and Blood Specialists has some good doctors, some not so good, and the quality of everything else is poor.

Dr. Dowsett is my mom's radiation oncologist. She is 84 and has Alzheimer's disease as well as…read morecancer; I live across the country and am trying to manage her care and help make decisions from far away. When I was home, I went with my mom to her appointment with Dr. Dowsett - he was very kind and personable with both of us; he treated her with respect in spite of her memory problems; he gave us very thorough and honest information and guidance. It seemed as though he adjusted how he talked about things to accommodate my level of understanding and my mom's ability to track the conversation. We are still working with him to decide on how to proceed with treatment, and he has been available for questions far beyond the norm for doctors these days. I know I've asked him the same questions more than once, because there are so many details to keep track of, and so many ideas bouncing around, it's hard to keep it all in mind... and he has been patient and understanding regardless. We haven't been through the radiation part itself, so I can't say anything about his medical judgment, but he seems very knowledgeable and competent, and given how he has worked with us so far, I trust him. For anyone who needs his services, I'm sorry for what you're going through, but I think you'll be glad to have Dr. Dowsett on your team.
