We agreed I would not pay him for killing our tree. I later read trees like this can increase home values by $10,000. It wasn't a complicated job, but it looks great & the price was right. One weird thing though - we had some miscommunication about the job. I don't remember confirming yes/no with him after he handed me the estimate; I asked when he could do it and said I'd let him know. I said it wasn't an urgent job, and I was waiting for another quote. So we were quite surprised to come home 3 weeks later to a nicely trimmed tree (no mess)!
