We were initially hesitant to hire Richard due to the unfavorable review we read on yelp. But when…read morewe met, Richard reassured us he was the best person for the job. His passion for preserving his client's property for land and wildlife management is astounding. He knows so much about trees and the environment. We left the meeting wiser and told all our friends and kids how much better our land would get with his help! The negative review was an unfair portrayal of his work. Some loggers just cut trees. Richard is a forester and knows what is suitable for the land to preserve the property with timber harvesting. He gave us more money than anticipated because we had more trees to cut than estimated. His communication was impeccable. And he let us know when he was going to start and when he finished. Richard even amended the contract to finish on our timeline. He created a digital map of our 102-acre land and marked the perimeter. We were never able to walk the entire property because we didn't know where it ended. He told us what kind of trees and animals we had on the property and how to preserve them. And he left behind branches because they were good for the soil. Richard completed the job super quick and made an excellent trail for walking to enter the property. Overall, we're delighted with the service and happy we secured a reliable contact for future maintenance and recommendations!

I started to call it a logging project but it was far more than that. Within days of my call, Richard was out to our 30+ acre property to walk, observe, educate, and discuss our long term goals for the project and for the property. Having seen some ugly results in other areas, we were a bit apprehensive about having trees cut at all, and I remember stressing that we wanted it to look like a forest at the end of the project, not a parcel of land with some trees standing. And that is exactly what we got. Richard made several visits to measure and mark the individual trees to be cut (no way for us to be surprised later). He encouraged us to join him for this activity each time. I did when time allowed and I learned a ton about forest management. He looked into the future and saw the next generation of young trees waiting for a bit of sunlight in order to grow to their potential. There were areas where mature trees had little room to increase in value (forest health or monetary) and he suggesting cutting a bit heavier. Some areas were left untouched because he saw a natural balance of new and old growth. I expect to see the tract really evolve in a positive way over the next few growing seasons. We highly recommend working with Richard. The contract was straightforward and he amended it to meet our preferred time schedule. The loggers were professional and really cared about the land. We were impressed when the logger showed us a video of an owl he had taken the time to film. A tree harvesting project can be messy for sure - there are tree crowns and limbs throughout the property, but it only took a day or two for us to clean up a series of unmarked trails we use. What's left will degrade naturally and surely offer food and shelter to a host of wildlife. We live on the property and watched the progress every day. It was as efficient a job as we can imagine and was completed faster than expected. The money we received for the timber sales was exactly in the range Richard had estimated. And most importantly, when we look outside now we see not only a forest, but a well managed one.
