Not to Be Missed!…read more The newly opened Azucar Cuban Restaurant is a wonderful addition to the dining scene in Seymour, Indiana. If you've never tried Cuban food, don't let that stop you--this place is truly exceptional. We lived in Miami for a couple of years and have been searching ever since for authentic Cuban food. Nothing has come close until we discovered Azucar. The flavors, preparation, and overall experience are spot-on. We ordered the Ropa Vieja (shredded flank steak in a rich tomato-based sauce) and the Lechón Asado (pork marinated in citrus juices). Both dishes were absolutely delicious--full of flavor, perfectly seasoned, and not spicy. The portions were generous and very satisfying. The margaritas were excellent, and they also offer a nice selection of beers on draft. Prices are very reasonable, the service is friendly and attentive, and you can tell the staff truly cares about providing a great experience. Azucar has only been open for a couple of months, and it deserves strong community support. If you're looking for something different, authentic, and delicious, this restaurant is well worth a visit. Please give them a try--you won't be disappointed!

My wife and I were both very pleasantly surprised by the quality of our meals. I wouldn't hesitate to return if I were back in town.

The Pines is a restaurant that brings up fond memories for me. When I went to school at Hanover…read moreCollege from 1996 to 2000, my parents would come visit me and often take me to the Madison restaurant. I always enjoyed these respites from campus food. And this is a restaurant with a lot of charm. Service is generally friendly and prices are extremely reasonable. I saw at least one review here complaining about the prices, and I would love to know where that person gets their food. The only explanation I have an able to come up with is that that person has access to a time machine and is able to visit restaurants from the past when prices would naturally be far lower than those offered by the Pines. And if that's the case, I really think they could be doing more important things with their time machine. Obviously the food is what truly matters here. And the people here do a very nice job. The number of selections is more than adequate, but not so large as to keep them from delivering a high-quality product. A lot of staples are featured, and there are generally one or two attempts at doing something a little more unusual. For the most part, the menu is conventional, albeit in a good way. You may not find staples like fried chicken, ham, prime rib, and mac & cheese all that interesting, and you wouldn't be wrong. But if you are looking for nice comfort food in a very pleasant setting, you are in the right place.
