They give you dome lids only for shakes that overflow with whip cream I had zero whip cream with zero straw access kinda hard to drink a shake driving with no lid! I even requested a flat lid the girl swore zero lids but dome lids fit shake cups I do believe in the past I was able to get my request on the lid! Do better on your shake cups read more

Bathrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a few days -- both stalls had what looked like poop stains on the seats when the food came I was immediately met with a very off-putting smell -- something sour or musty? I couldn't figure out what the culprit was and I ended up leaving the burger and fries on the table and walked out. It was my first time going to a Steak 'n Shake so not sure what I should've expected, but I left pretty grossed out and won't be returning. read more

My grilled cheese that I ordered was not melted at all. The cheese tasted fake. The cheese was protruding out the sides of the bread and it was cold and hard. My lemonade tasted like acid and vodka, it was so bitter. read more

The food here tasted pretty standard as far as I could tell. My issue is more with the ridiculous service. The drive through is below average speed wise. I don't eat a lot of fast food, but I know when I order a whopper it comes with a certain grouping of toppings. If I get a double cheeseburger at McD's it comes with the ketchup, pickle, onions whatever on it. Great! So I came to this place and ordered a steak burger. They didn't ask what I wanted on it so I assumed it came with some stuff on it. The burger was totally plain. No ketchup, no mustard, no lettuce, no nothing. That was partially my fault. The burger was half off the bun, that could have been put on a little better, especially with no toppings. Aside from that, the person at the drive through told me my order was $4.04. I drove up to the window and handed them a $5 and a dime. They took the money. I got my food. Then they gave me the dime back. Nothing else. Was my food exactly $5? Was it like $4.84 and I heard them wrong, and then didn't get change? Like I said, this drive through is slow. I didn't want to waste anymore time by inquiring about this, considering it was less than a $1. Considering my burger had no toppings, it wasn't that bad. The bun was very buttery so that helped. Absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced at ANY restaurant. Kaitlyn was extremely rude and we waited 38 minutes before she even took our drink orders. Our meals were wrong, we didn't get what we ordered, no lemon for our waiter, no dressing for salad, burger was cold, no refills. To make it worse she tossed food on the table and not one word after. Every table around us was complaining and unhappy. She treated everyone terribly. I cannot believe Steak and Shake let's this slide. Stopped there for breakfast, ordered eggs over medium, bacon, shredded hash browns and a biscuit. The bacon and biscuit were good but the eggs and hash browns were not. Eggs were cooked hard and potatoes were the hardest crispiest things ever. When I told the waitress, she immediately removed the charge from the bill and told the cook and we could hear him yelling about it at our table. While paying the bill I could see that the cook had facial hair The was not covered while he was cooking. I thought that was s health code standard... maybe not. Steak n Shake is a great alternative to fast food, but when we visited this location today, it was a terrible experience. It took the staff 5 minutes to greet us and another 10 minutes to seat us, in spite of the availability of several open, but un-bussed tables. Our waitress, Tanya, took our order and went for a smoke break in her car, then, while our food was waiting in the window, she said, "I just talked to the cook and your food will be up shortly." (She didn't actually talk to anyone.) Then, 15 minutes after we had ordered our shakes, she finally made them. And then our food came out. Overall, this looks like a poorly managed location with a manager that lacks the experience or drive to manage his team well. There were two waiters, one middle-aged woman and a mod 30's man, who appeared to actually be working hard, the rest were busy eating or talking in between serving customers. This is probably on the lower end of steakhouses I've been to. After the wait to get to the table, the sub-par waitresses, and the underwhelming food this restaurant is not the go to for me. Stopped here on the way home from Louisville, KY. Service was a little slow and the french fries were not as hot as I would have liked. If I could leave negative stars, I would. Only brought food to half our table and never came back. We had to walk to the kitchen to find out the status of the rest of our order only to be told the computer deleted part of our order. How about you use common sense and check on your table when you notice only half of the people you wrote down an order for are eating. The waitress finally decided to try and take our order again. Surprise surprise, the food still never came. Let me clarify that we entered the restaurant at 11:40 pm and let at almost 2 am and all of us still hadn't eaten! We were recently in Seymour when my friend, a disabled American Veteran, had to use the restroom. Because of his injuries he is not able to wait very long. I got him out of the car as quickly as I could and headed to the Steak and Shake carry out section of the restaurant since it was the closest. A woman, who I'm assuming was the manager, chased us down and told us we couldnt use "her" bathroom. My friend is on a Walker so I asked could she not see he's disabled and it was an emergency! To which she replied that she didn't care and there were plenty of other bathrooms in the area. She stood in front of the bathroom door and blocked it!! She was very hateful with us!! Steak and Shake you need to teach your employees some RESPECT!! There wasn't one other person in there at the time except her and the cook. I could see if someone like me just walked in to use it but this veteran was an exception! So nice to think he fought for someone like her that wouldn't even let him use "her"bathroom!! Excellent food. Patience, accurate, and fast service. Can handle a large group. I came to this restaurant with a group of 100 teenagers as we drove across the country on a school trip. They not only accommodated us, but delivered delicious food, with fast and accurate service. As a teacher hauling 100 kids, I cannot explain how incredible it is to have buses of happy, full children. I told the wait staff I was so happy I could hug them. A waitress said, " I'd take a hug." Waited for 30 minutes in a drive thru line and our order wasn't correct, in spite of the fact they seemed to have quadruple checked it. Either complete idiots are running the joint or the entire staff is poorly trained. I am disappointed I can't rate this zero stars. So after a long drive, my husband, friend, and I stop at the steak and shake. We get passed by 2 managers standing at the front and then finally get seated from a busy waitress. We sit and have time to figure our entire meals and both my husband and friend used the restroom before our order was taken. Finally our waitress shows up. I order for the table. Drinks and all. She leaves and comes back with our drinks and spills my husbands soda all over him. She says "you guys can move if you want." No urgency to clean up, help us move, or apologetic. We move over as she gets him another drink. This mess was not cleaned further. It remained a mess with soda all over the floor until the very end of our meal and after we left. She comes back with my husband's and friend's meals and says mine is coming out. That was fine. 20 minutes later, my food comes out. My friend and husband have already finished. I eat my meal. I then see another waitress come by ( same one who seated us. she's been by a few times by now, but I never saw our waitress between eating) and she slips with food in her hands on the puddle of soda our waitress left unattended and not cleaned up. This waitress brings out a wet floor sign. This was an atrocious experience. I told a very uncaring manager of our experience and her response was to take 5 bucks off my meal. I have eaten at numerous steak and shakes over the Midwest, this might be the first time I've been disappointed. I ordered the California skillet (which I do all the time) it was cold, cheese wouldn't begin to melt. I told the waitress, she took it away, 30 seconds later, I heard the microwave "beep" and she came back out with the same dish, slightly warmer.
