This required a straight leg brace for six weeks and crutches for another month. All this significantly impacted my ability to properly rehab the knee with the replacement, as well as the knee with the quadriceps damage. I was encouraged to try what therapy she recommended as she explained exactly what she would be doing and what my experience would be, and the response my body would have. After my first visit for neuropathy in my feet, it literally stopped! but I wanted to continue with 3 more appointments (just for my own peace of mind). Years of neuropathy are totally gone! My most recent visit, Colleen, worked on me with a therapy called Biomagnetism. I had a gripping pain in my stomach for 8 years, and my Dr sent me for ultrasounds, xrays, CT scans, and wrote prescriptions. Then, I was referred to a specialist for gastrointestinal problems, and no one could determine the cause of my constant pain. In ONE visit , just one! with Colleen using biomagnets on me, my pain was gone! and It has never come back! I've not taken one prescription pill for stomach issues since that day. David is my therapist and the only person I could find in Lake county. who can successfully work with and help someone with a TBI. ( such as myself) Any other place I was sent just didn't get the importantance of knowing what a person with a tramatic Brain injury lacks in comprehending how to try to walk again.! David GETS IIT. I have no concept of how to walk again.. ( its not fun) I use to fall a lot more than I do now, Thanks to David teaching me the most important ways I must continue to try to do every day. He is patient with me even when I try to turn my left foot out, but CANNOT even do that anymore without also moving my hips, arms, right foot and shoulders. It's extremely frustrating and difficult for me to do what others CAN do who don't have a T. B. I I wish I could have what I call "my old body" back. ( when I could walk, run, ride a bike, and fix things around the house myself) I not only cannot walk but have no use of my arm or hand anymore either. Not just being put on a bunch of different machines by a tech. Therapists are hands on and ask many questions during session to check progress. I am working with Tammy and cannot praise her techniques and personality enough. There was something abut her from the very beginning that made me want to do the home exercises and she is so interested in the progress you are making. I've seen some of the other therapists work and their procedures seem to be very similar to hers- one-on- one, manual work and many questions and concerns. I truly wish I had come here the previous times I've had PT!
