ARC is pretty great, guys. Trust me to find a hairdresser I'd be content to settle with now that I've decided to no longer settle with Brisbane. Curses. Here are some great things about ARC: + Gary is an excellent stylist and has a tops accent (Welsh?) + the washbasin seats are ACTUALLY PROPERLY COMFORTABLE + wine bar, for real (Oyster Bay!) + everyone is super friendly + the trashy magazines are this week's and not from six months ago + surprise pretzels and rice cracker snacks! + Kevin Murphy hair products, which are sulphate free and have essential oils so they smell INCREDIBLE + buzz in for parking onsite behind a boom gate (great for the busy Racecourse Rd) I went in with a deal voucher but was treated wonderfully. My bright blue bits in my hair had significantly faded, but I am used to most hairdressers not having any decent blue in stock - not at ARC. Gary enthusiastically rifled through some drawers and pulled out a bunch of colours, including a "peacock blue" that worked perfectly. Totally stoked. The colour touch-up didn't cost me an arm and a leg, though it did cost Gary his hands - they were stained bright blue because he hadn't worn gloves. "I look like a smurf!" Four stars because their website isn't quite up to date as far as their current wine bar menu. The cocktail list has been significantly cut down since ARC opened, so no negroni for me. (I settled for a cosmopolitan and it was delicious.) I walked out of ARC with a handful of "refer a friend" cards. They didn't push them on me, I asked for them. If you're after a new hairdresser - this is a fantastic place to head to. I'll be frank with you - I decided to go here purely based on the fact that its name held the term "wine bar". But nothing is better to ease the nerves of visiting a new hairdresser than a nice glass of wine. Or champagne. Or Amaretto Sour. Or Cosmopolitan. Or beer. Ok ok. Fantastic beverages aside (cocktails are $15, and are actually pretty darn tasty, considering it's not technically a bar), the hairdressers are pretty darn talented too. Even though I was just having a wash and a trim, the other patrons were leaving with some nicely styled cuts. They offer special packages, from a simple treatment and style blow-dry, through to a full head of foils and a treatment. Cuts and foils are on the expensive side, but if you're willing to spend the money, it is definitely worth it. Especially if you're feeling a tad thirsty. read more

If you are like me and are super fussy with you hair, and are currently on the lookout for a new salon or stylist - save the looking around and trial/error - just come here! You won't be disappointed! I love coming to Arc so much, and always leave feeling amazing! The team here do a wonderful job making sure every client is comfortable and looked after, nursing a wine/coffee and good (current) magazine while they go to work. The cuts and colours have been gorgeous every time and my stylist always talks me through it first to make sure I'm comfortable. The highlight of a visit is always the hot towel treatment, scalp and hand massage - heaven!!! Best yet, there's parking around the back through a private boom gate (rare on racecourse road), and great shops nearby for a quick browse afterwards when you're feeling amazing (and possibly in the mood for spending) after your new hairstyle! Would absolutely (and do often!) recommend Arc to friends and family! read more
