But also be aware that libraries have so much more these days. The Batavia branch has games you can borrow, stem kits for kids, a seed library! On top of that check out the events on their website or social media, they have so many free activities for adults and kids alike, from art activities to movie nights to so many more. We have been to paint nights for both adults and even my 1 year old, they had a cool baby race my daughter participated in, we gave been to trivia and always participate in their summer read program. The library was holding a used book sale, who can resist that? I got a sweet Monty Python's Flying Circus book detailing all the episodes....it only cost me 50 cents. Across the street from the library there's a very nice park with a playground, tennis & basketball courts, dog park and baseball diamond complete with covered bleachers. Ellicottville is always fun to explore but getting away from the center of town was an unique experience.

They also had a book sale going on where some of the books were 4/$1! The library has big shelves of fiction and non-fiction, and lower shelves for the kids. They have a big collection of local history as well as travel books and graphic novels. I like that the non-fiction sections are labeled on the top of the shelves by category. There are nice displays throughout the library. The library seemed very busy while we were there, but perhaps the book sale drew people in. There are a bunch of PCs and lots of places to sit, including comfy chairs, couches, and tables. They're spread out throughout the library so you can sit tucked away if you'd like to. Big parking lot and places to walk nearby too (like the caboose behind the library or the park across the street).

The staff were welcoming and the building is lovely. They have a great sense of history in this building. Patrons were using the resources and socializing, making this a great public space. Even with lots of questions from different patrons, the staff were cheerful, easily handed off work and supported each other, and made sure everything worked like clockwork.

Check out one of their technology classes, holiday parties for kids and families, and free art classes for kids, and also separate art classes for adults.
