The school is academically rigorous and will challenge your kids, but the class room sizes are small enough that every kid gets personal attention to help them learn and thrive. The teachers and staff care about each student and everyone knows all the students by name. It feels like a family. Because of the small class size, all of the kids know and are friends with the entire class, so we really haven't seen an issue with bullying. This was a huge plus for our older son who is shy and introverted. He was able to come out of his shell and be himself. Our Kindergarten student went from unable to read at the beginning of the year to reading the entire Dogman series to himself (2nd-3rd grade level) by the end of the year. The school has a strong moral center that drives everything they do. Christianity is not just a name attached to the school, but an active part of the learning experience. Children memorize Bible verses, participate in weekly chapel, and develope a strong moral Christ centered core. We highly recommend this school to anyone looking to give their kids a quality education.

We Love My Learning Center!…read more Our family had such a great experience with Ms. Brenda and Mr. George at My Learning Center! Ms. Brenda is amazing. She's super organized, knows the curriculum inside and out, and really understands what's going on at Highland Oaks. She even reviews our child's progress reports to make sure the tutoring is focused on exactly what's needed. As two busy parents with demanding jobs, it's hard to stay on top of homework and school support. Having Ms. Brenda involved has been a game-changer. She's not only a seasoned educator, but also a mom herself, which really shows in the way she connects with the kids and understands what they need both academically and emotionally. Our child loved going there--not just for the learning, but also for the environment. Ms. Brenda creates a space that's warm, structured, and respectful. She's amazing at helping kids work through disagreements and teaches them how to communicate and resolve things in a positive way. Jonathan in particular has a habit of yelling at both students and staff, often belittling them. One basically has to spend time away from tutoring to prepare, which is time that is not paid. There is no substantial support for people who work there. We couldn't be more pleased with this school and are so sad to see him graduate to go onto kindergarten. When my son attended this school, it was called Little Stars Preschool (they are located at the same address: 1900 Bella Vista Ave, Arcadia). Sometime around last year they made administrative changes (nothing that affects parents other than how we pay tuition) which is the reason for the school name change. Here's why we absolutely LOVE Arcadia ELC: *Excellent staff- My son's teacher was Ms. Tuba, who is now an administrator in the front office. Fun fact-- Ms. Tuba has been a preschool teacher for Arcadia unified for decades! So was Ms. Vanessa, who is now the school director. *Education- Your child will come home often with beautiful artwork (many will have your child's pictures included! Perfect for memories!) This school is affiliated with Arcadia unified so your child will be well prepared for kindergarten (e.g. my daughter can count to 50, she can count from 30 backwards, she knows all her shapes [even the more advanced like hexagon, etc.], she can read, write and spell her name and other basic words). My daughter's well on her way to reading... at 3 years old! *Competitive tuition prices- Very comparable or less than other preschools in Arcadia *Cleanliness- I've toured some preschools in the area and, sorry to say but, many were filthy! Cleanliness is a game changer for me and Arcadia ELC does a good job keeping the school in tip top shape *Low staff turnover rate- Many of the teachers have been teaching in the same facility for years! *Most importantly, the relentless love and care the entire staff will give your child. In my children, this school has instilled the love of school and learning, it's helped teach my kids how to be good and kind human begins, and it's taught them the importance of cherishing and loving oneself. All the behavioral, psychological, emotional, etc. lessons that little ones at this age need to learn will be addressed here. My kids have been fortunate enough to have classmates that are overall good, well-rounded kids. I think this is a by-product of the staff and teaching methodology here.
