Our experience with this school has been completely positive. We have had two kids go through the preschool program and we couldn't be happier. There are a couple things that I think are worth pointing out to highlight. Curriculum This is no glorified day care where kids are playing all day. There is structured time for the kids throughout the day. My kids learned important life skills needed in the classroom, and had plenty of time to learn through play as well. The staff also gives updates through focused parent teacher meetings that allow you to track the progress and development of your kid as the year goes on. This was incredible helpful for us. Teachers The teachers our boys had were incredible. Kind, caring, intentional, engaging, patient, and supportive. But if I can highlight one thing, is that they are excellent at communicating with parents. They really helped to foster a parent/teacher partnership to help reinforce important values being taught. They helped thinking of out of the box approaches to help students become more engaged, and pass those along to parents. Any concerns were brought up promptly and were addressed. Overall we have been incredibly thankful for the staff and school. The support, care, and compassion they have for the students is immeasurable. We couldn't be happier. read more

I lived in Arcadia for a decade, passed by the school countless times, didn't pay attention to its existence till the time came when I needed to find a good school for my baby girl. ACS needs to do better with marketing *wink wink*. We've been with ACS preschool for almost two years now, it's the best you can find in the area in my opinion. The teachers are the best, they are caring, knowledgeable and personable. Often times you could tell they are pretty tired toward the end of the day, but they would still stay and talk to the parents patiently when they have questions and concerns about their children. I wholeheartedly recommend ACS to parents who genuinely want a caring place for their children that is based on biblical Christian values. With all the darkness and chaos going around in the world, ACS is one of the few remaining lights on the hill. Yes, I am aware of issues mentioned in the other reviews as well as other ongoing challenges. Our family has had such an incredible experience at Arcadia Christian School. One person who deserves special recognition is Mrs. Scribner. She stepped in midway through the school year to take over the kindergarten class and did an absolutely phenomenal job. From day one, it was clear how much she cared for each student and how committed she was to their success. Thanks to her patience, creativity, and encouragement, my child just thrived. By year's end, they were reading confidently and tested at a third grade level. We were amazed by the progress, but even more grateful for the confidence and love of learning she inspired. Before kindergarten, Mrs. Scribner taught in the preschool and was just as wonderful there. She has a gift for working with young children, making them feel safe, loved, and excited to learn. One thing that truly sets Arcadia Christian School apart is how naturally faith is woven into everyday learning. Posting on behalf of my wife: Review of ACS I'm a mom of a kindergartener at ACS last year. It was great for the first half of the year as the substitute teacher at the time was teaching my daughter, she was teaching with love and compassion because she simply loves the kids. My daughter was enjoying school a lot and she learned so much from the hand on projects and others. Although she was a substitute teacher, she was there for 9 years. The class took turn to lead the singing in the chapel time and they did skit and had fun. I was really happy that my daughter was learning the Bible and of course the academics side as well. Then, when it came to the second half of the year which is this January, Ms Bonnette took over as she was a new hire. She did not know how to teach. She taught using videos and Canva. She did not want to use her voice so much that she needed to use a microphone to talk during class as she claimed that she needed to reserve her voice for worship at church. She was using YouTube read-aloud videos to show kids of the books. The books she chose were not biblical, they are not even educational. When she picked a book to read to the students, they were toddler level. I'm not sure if she knew what level of education they needed. Then she has shown an inappropriate video of a green gummy bear song which is so popular that I was not even aware of it. If you search a gummy bear song on YouTube, I'm sure you will find it right away as it's the most popular video. I felt like the kids were being indoctrinated. She would eat candies in class and talk about her boyfriend with the kids. Not much of the hand-on projects came home at the end of the school year. I did not know what she was doing there. This is totally unacceptable and ungodly about what she was doing to the kids. There are still more things that I have not mentioned here that was unprofessional and inappropriate as a teacher. We are still waiting for the principal, Mr Limon, response regarding the investigation of this tecaher. He does not seem to care as we are not coming back to ACS anymore. It will be a month soon since we have spoken to him about it, and school is about to start in less than a month. Truly many Christian schools are turning woke. Please be diligent when searching for school and get to know the teachers first because this could happen anywhere. I have never thought that this would ever happen to my daughter. We are fairly new to ACS but, so far, we have been warmly welcomed and offered help to quickly adjust/adapt all three kids. All three enjoy their classmates and teachers. As a parent, I am impressed at the personalized attention and care that the teachers have given, from daily emails and quick response from the staff/teachers. We've had a wonderful experience at ACS Preschool! My son started in Kangaroo class and my daughter started in Toucan class. We had Ms Elizabeth, Ms Vivell, and Ms Shelby as our teachers. They are incredibly caring and truly take the time to understand each child as an individual. They closely monitor developmental milestones and thoughtfully adjust their teaching style to fit each student's learning needs. It's clear that they are all deeply committed--not just during school hours, but beyond. They always respond promptly to any questions, even outside of regular hours, and go the extra mile by cheering on our child's progress both in and out of the classroom. Kids are always busy working on different projects - making trial mix, baking desserts, making rice pudding, etc. They come home with LOTS of creative art work. Ms Alondra, the director always greets our kids warmly with a big smile on her face. The small class size is another huge plus--it allows for more one-on-one attention and creates a close-knit, nurturing environment. We feel so grateful to have found a place that supports both academic growth and emotional development with such love and responsibility. Highly recommend! read more

Had two of my kids go to this school for around 9 years. Each year it got worse here. The class sizes are very small (5-9 kids) per class but the teachers they hire aren't very good. One teacher would not grade assignments till a month or more after they were handed in. Another teacher went on a religious retreat for a week during the school year. My kids came home constantly not knowing how to complete assignments. They have younger kids 1st and 2nd graders assigned projects were parents are completing 90 percent of the projects. Only one teacher Ms Orme offered help after class at no additional cost. Ms Orme left because she had a dispute with Mr Herring for yelling at the kids. Yeah, they kept the bad and let the good one go. The principal, Limon is as questionable. He's a guy the stretches the truth. He left the school open during Covid calling it day care. When my kid was getting bullied he put the blame on my kid. My kids have never had anything but stellar behavior accolades from teachers. Limon will do anything to keep this school running at the expensive of a child's well being. All he seems to care about is keeping this joke of a school open. Holding an auction on parents donated belongings. "Do I have $20, do I have $20, do I have $20."Mr Limon would ask. Like no. If they didn't bid on the $20 you gotta lower the price. So embarrassing. Recently he held a dance off gala costing each parent $125 to attend. He posted on Facebook the event was sold out. Event details and donations contributions to be posted on the Facebook after the event. The event gala information somehow disappeared. He roped a few parents into being dance instructors, calling them celebrities of Arcadia. You may find yourself as a parent working as coach or the front office. They don't offer many if any extra enrichment classes, such as band, drama, or honors anything. They had a boys basketball team a few years ago but they lost every game. The high school is taught remotely by a partner Christian school. This school has turned into a Frankenstein that is being held together by Limon's will. If you are seeking a quality education, please look elsewhere. They have nothing to offer your children here not even protection from being bullied. The only qualification for kids to get into this school is a pulse! read more

Through my daughter's education, I have seen the nurturing of all teachers and her being biblically guided. It is ACS Preschool Teachers who have been dedicated in making our children time here worth it. All teachers uphold a Christian values, purposeful teaching and meaningful play. So, thank you to the teachers here, the love you have for the children shines through them. Thank you to all the parents who have willingly given their time volunteering here, and who have raised such wonderful children! Looking ahead, our children are very well-equipped to take on the next part of their educational lives. We came across this Preschool when we were looking around to enroll our 3/4 year old daughter. Both the Director and Preschool were very welcoming. The preschool family dedicates to making each day a fun and learning adventure for the children. I see that they have so much patience and nurture to the little ones. My daughter is in it part time (2 days a week) so it did take longer for her to adjust. I say it took her 3-4 months until she stopped crying to get ready for school. But I promise you that she loves it now! She now picks her outfits for school and talks about her friends and teacher. I see that my little one now plays with her friends and has blossomed. The facilities is very clean and inviting for our little ones. The level of communication is amazing. They will update you and send you pictures by email or by their internal app. Lastly, we absolutely adored their Christmas show they put together for us parents and the families. We highly recommend this preschool. We have already referred my brother for his 2 year old son. You wont regret it! read more

ACS was the best choice we made for our daughter. Her academic growth was seen within weeks of starting. She discovered her love for art and music. The best part is the spiritual values she has learned. The teachers are amazing. They love what they do and are intellectually and academically prepared. We loved ACS from preK-3rd grade. We chose an Arcadia school bc AUSD has a reputation for high academic achievement, which holds for ACS, but for 4th grade, we are disappointed w/instruction level. Math - Still Reviewing 1-Digit Multiplication Back 2 School Night: the teacher Mrs. T_ _ _ _ said students would have multiplication fact quizzes weekly. Odd since @4th grade, they should know their facts, esp since they had great 2nd & 3rd grade teachers, who drilled/killed facts. But we figured they would quickly review & students would move @own pace. Not so. The class goes through only one 1-digit multiplication fact/wk (Tue & Thur). They are now on 7s. A month ago we asked Mrs.T if students could move @their own pace. She said no & that these aren't graded anyway. We asked the principal & he said Mrs.T felt the class needed 2 review. If this is true, then previous teachers didn't do their job...? Math book (common core): our child comes home annoyed bc she feels Mrs.T doesn't teach, per se vs. model (talking aloud 2 herself as she is solving) &/or just gives students answers. Reading Comp Tests - Great questions but there's no point when answers are given before test! The test is in multiple choice format. We feel our child/the class can answer these questions in sentence style (e.g. What is the setting of the story?) bc answering multiple-choice 4 every test won't give the critical thinking needed to write essays/college entrance exams. Mrs.T said no. Gave no reason why. We then asked principal & now she's writing her answers. However, we noticed issues. When we studied w/our child, she wouldn't expand her answers. She explained that she couldn't bc Mrs.T had given the answers. Our kid had memorized the answers & knew what she was supposed 2 write! We asked Mrs.T to not give test answers beforehand, but she refused, saying the test is hard for the class. We have since learned another parent expressed concern about this. Mrs.T told that parent she was helping students find the answers in the text, which our kid says she's doing now, but she wasn't a month ago. This wasn't Mrs.T 's plan from the start bc she would have told us. Parents expressing concerns have caused change. We have decided 2 have our kid revert back to multiple-choice testing bc it's obvious Mrs.T does not want to administer or evaluate academic enrichment work in any meaningful way. Our child received a C- (7/10 score) on last reading test. One question, she was wrong, but if this was a multiple-choice test, she probably would've nailed it. But for the other 2 questions, she wrote thoughtful answers but bc it didn't match the answer key, Mrs.T marked them wrong. See 4 yourself (images of kid's & teacher's answers in red). We didn't ask Mrs.T to reevaluate score bc we've asked already (see ecosystem paper image). Our kid scored 6 out 8 bc she didn't finish a box. She said she had asked Mrs.T if she could draw an arrow from the previous answer 2 the final box bc the questions were similar. Our kid heard her say ok, but Mrs.T marked her off, saying she misunderstood her. Our kid asked Mrs.T for opportunity 2 finish but she refused, saying she already graded it. She shouldn't be penalized for miscommunication! No Homework We asked Mrs.T for enrichment work since our kid was finishing hw in class. After 2 weeks of "enrichment" packets, our kid was unmotivated, saying these weren't graded. We asked Mrs.T if at least she got extra credit. She said no. We don't need meaningless busy work! Mrs.T is not new 2 teaching. She's worked 7 years @public schools. She started ACS @4th grade. We heard parents unhappy; so old principal moved her to 1st grade last yr. She is back @4th bc she asked new principal. Unprofessional Actions *She told class 3rd grade teacher taught them cursive incorrectly. Don't throw colleagues under the bus bc you want 2 teach old school cursive. *The class asked 4 positive incentives/prizes. She shamed them, saying, "Don't you think you're too old for toys?" Yet, she has Hello Kitty dolls on her desk. If you don't do toys, then just say so. Don't shame them & be hypocritical. *Back 2 School Night: Mrs.T didn't have parent-teacher conf sign-ups ready, saying she needed 2 check the dates, but the dates were set bc school calendar was sent 2 weeks earlier. *Our kid asked what field trips were planned. She said she didn't know. *Beginning of yr: 4th grade had similar P.E. schedule as 3rd grade. 4th grade wanted to do P.E. w/3rd bc that teacher taught P.E. skills. Mrs.T switched P.E. days & has them do laps & what ends up being recess. Mrs.T talks a good game but is evasive & just ok. She does the minimum amount of work. Principal can only say she's following curriculum. For tuition we pay $812/month@12 months (increasing 5% next yr). We don't mind paying 4 academic excellence & are grateful for past teachers, but we don't want to pay for mediocrity. Stars will be added/removed 2 update this review if anything changes. read more

After visiting and checking out several preschools we settled on the preschool here at ACS. The staff and teachers here are amazing! We sent our daughter here (she moved on to kindergarten this year) and now our son attends the preschool as well! They both love the preschool. The teachers are very caring and make sure the kids progress in both their academics and social skills! They take the time to really get to know each student and help them succeed in their individual ways. We are so glad we found ACS. This has been and will continue to be a place where we feel confident and safe in sending our children. We know our son will have an amazing experience here just like our daughter did! I know many parents are concerned about Covid and their children being out in public, but the preschool does such a great job of following guidelines, wearing masks, and cleaning down all of the surfaces and toys that we feel very safe in sending our son here. We are so thankful they are still here to provide excellent, Christ-centered education and care, especially during these times. Both my husband and I are still working full-time so having ACS open and able to take our son has been a blessing! We recommend ACS to everyone we know! read more

Preschool - My 2 kids both attended ASC preschool. Although many years apart, both of them were lucky to have had Ms. Perkins as their teacher at one point. They both loved coming to the preschool, and we felt confident dropping our kids off in the morning-knowing they were in good hands. I always sensed the compassion of the teachers, it was very evident in how they picked up, hugged and consoled the kids during drop off. In how they continued to comfort the crying youngsters even long after the parents have gone out-how they lovingly wiped away the kids' tears and snot, sang to them, tickled them, until their sobs turned into little giggles before full blown laughing session. Looking back, I wish I made it more known to this wonderful team how wonderful they were. That I was, and still am, grateful that they made my kids felt loved and cared for under their care. read more

As a result of my first review, dated 10/12/18, which Yelp's software placed under "Not Recommended" because it was my only review at the time for a couple of weeks, the principal apologized for not properly informing parents beforehand about cutting school bus field trips from programming. His apology was the introduction of a flyer for fundraising for the November Fun and Run because funds raised will go towards field trips. Summary: I'm glad funds are being raised so my kids can go on field trips, which I thought they were going to be able to do already when I first paid tuition. I am NOT glad, however, that I am actually the one that has to raise those funds by asking family and friends to donate to a school that has a principal and school board that continues to not properly/formally notify parents in writing as to the other programs that have been cut and the reasons why. read more

This school has been a wonderful blessing for both of my kids, one of whom just started this year. They have recently redone their classrooms so that it is bright and friendly. The teachers/aides exhibit the love of Christ as they teach/watch/play with the children. My daughter, who normally does not take well to strangers, has completely opened up and is now enjoying her new teachers/friends tremendously. Carol Souisa has done a fantastic job following after Debbie Meier as the current preschool director and I look forward to how the school will continue to grow. I have two children who attend this school. Both started preschool at 3 years old. My older is now in third grade and my younger is finishing preschool this year. The staff here is so loving. They give of themselves sacrificially for the children. For example, last year at the end-of-the-year preschool family luau, the school provided a water slide jump house to celebrate and the teachers took turns to stand inside the jump house and in the pool of water to supervise and protect the children. It happened to be a rather cool day, and one teacher was soaked from all of the little ones splashing into the pool. She just shook and laughed. That's love! Another example of the teachers' loving actions is the second grade teacher writing a personal note to EACH child EVERY week. My daughter just loved the notes. The principal is also loving. She personally welcomes the children in morning carline whenever she is on campus, be it sunny or rainy. Moreover, she is humble, willing to take on whatever role she needs to and can in order to meet the needs of the school. I also believe she is extremely wise. Her decisions are carefully and prayerfully thought out. I feel so comforted to know that a woman who so humbly submits to God leads this school. read more

We loved ACS for pre-k, first and second grades, but the teachers for 3rd and 4th are terrible...luckily the 3rd grade teacher retired, but awful issues with 4th grade. And, our child has been bullied for 3 years straight, with no resolution. The principal doesn't do any long lasting actions and two families have already left the school due to being bullied by the same kid. Very disappointing, especially for a Christian school, to allow this to happen. read more

I have sent my daughter here for preschool for 2 years now and the school has totally been a blessing for our family. My daughter absolutely loves it and can not wait to go to school every morning. The teachers are so warm and caring and honest. Each one of them, regardless if they are my daughter's direct teacher, is so helpful when you approach them. The children are disciplined yet are loved and cared for by the teachers. They are taught with God's words on a daily basis and are becoming loving the Lord more and more day by day. I started my son there a few months ago because we did not like his last daycare. He immediately loved it. He has made "friends" that he talks about and loves his teacher(s). They have great curriculum which is full of crafts. He constantly has work to show me. He also sings songs to me that he learned there.
