My partner began with the onion soup, which was overly sweet and had hardly any cheese. It lacked the richness and balance you'd expect from a classic French onion soup. The biggest letdown was the main course: the ribeye. "Ribeye" it was not. It arrived cold, dry, and extremely chewy -- the opposite of what a ribeye should be. Overall, the experience didn't come close to matching the hype or the ratings. Sadly, we left disappointed.

NOTHING AT ALL! You have a couple of quid supplement on some thing like steak or duck, but otherwise it's a total foodie fest! My starter had lovely ripe fig with soft goats cheese, and the main (Assiette de France) was a pot of olives in fresh herbs and oil, a tomato pickle, a mini baked Camembert, two pairs of frogs legs, two fish cakes and some leaves serve on a slate. The house red wine is Fleur de Lys and the service is polite and connected. What's not to love. Next time I'm here, this is my destination of choice! I have to say how lovely the couple were at the next table. So friendly, with some great tips. We dined on the first floor which had a special French ambience. There were some beautiful paintings on the wall, which made me feel like we were dining at museum. Oh the food was AMAZING! I was delighted with every bite! Especially the starter of scallops and king prawn was beautifully cooked. The combination of seafood and pie was absolutely delightful. The young waitress who served us, although wearing a badge announcing she was a "trainee", was the best service person we have had since arriving in the U.K. two weeks ago. Their signature dish are their dauphinois potatoes. Again these are the nicest I have ever tasted. I have tried several times to replicate them myself bit can never do it. They are out of this world! Creamy and garlicky they are out of this world. The whole meal was just stunning. Completely out of this world I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. The restaurant itself is nothing too special, a very simple dining room that seats all diners comfortably without being on top of each other. It could do with better lighting and a bit more of a vibrant atmosphere. The staff are very attentive and you don't have to wait long for drinks or food. This is quite an expensive restaurant so it would be for most people a once a year treat unless of course you have pots of money and you can afford to eat there all the time? I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a venue for a very special occasion. They cater well for large groups and celebratory dinners. The food as I have said is fantastic so you won't be disappointed on that front. I shall definitely be making another reservation again in the future.

I had lamb shank which was cooked to perfection and my wife went for the scallops and monkfish which she told me was the best shed had in a long time,we both shared a warm chocolate brownie with a small glass of dessert wine which complimented the richness of the chocolate to perfection! I have to say I was very impressed with the whole experience and will be going back very soon, this time mob handed with friends!

A friend and I ate here Wednesday 1st June 2016 it's a small ish restaurant with around 10 tables for 2/4 on the ground floor, but a surprisingly larger room upstairs where functions such as tribute band nights a private do's are held I was impressed with the food quality. I had scallops raped in proceto, and my colleague had the veg soup. Both were tasty and well cooked the fish was tender and flavoursome the ham was crisp and and balanced well with the scallops, four scallops and a salad dressing My main course was Duck cooked pink with shaved root veg again flavesome and well balanced. When you first walk into this place you think, this is a bit small to be good, but eat your food then judge I was pleased with my food and so was my colleague. Myself and a friend who likes to think he is a lot funnier than he actually is (we all know one of those) went in the other day for a meal and were pretty impressed from the moment we walked into the venue. The place is immaculate.....like SO fresh! It's clean, smells like IKEA flatpack and has a really polished finish....I especially like the little courtyard as you walk into the venue....drinks out there on a sunny evening....lovely! We were walked upstairs by the manager after checking our reservation and taken to a table. The resturant is vast with many small rooms giving a cozy feel. We went into an upstairs room with large glass windows overlooking the canal and were sat down.....slight gripe....the restaurant was pretty quiet where we were and we were sat right next to another woman that was eating alone even though there were other tables which would have allowed a little more space/room to chat about mildly inappropriate topics....haha....not a huge ine really just felt a little weird as there were other tables available. We both had the pre theatre menu which is pretty extensive and has a lot of good options. We both had the rabbit pate to start....it was good but don't think I would go for it again.....then I had the pork medallions for my main. The pork was beautifully cooked with a side of dauphinoise and seasonal veg. All amazing I must say...big shouts to the sauce on the whole plate which was rich and full of flavour. The other slight gripe I have is the slightly over attentive service while you are in the venue but im putting that down to everyone there being so keen to impress. I must admit I've never been a big enthusiast of French cuisine, purely because my knowledge in wines accompanying a meal is zero to none. However! This restaurant has opened my eyes once again to European because the food was fantastic and to top that, what makes the difference is the customer service making me and my friend feel like home in this wonderful feeling overlooking the canal. My meal consisted of the pre theatre menu with pork medallions and the chocolate torte dessert. The Pork Medallions was glazed with honey and mustard and layed with some sausage, mustard and pepper sauce with caramelised Apple. Such a combo makes a great mixture that your tastebuds just simply can't resist. The chocolate torte I thought was quite rich (not a massive chocolate fan so bear with me!) however, this was neutralised by the amazing black current ice cream produced from the restaurant chain itself. For an amazing price of £15 pp I can honestly say I feel like I robbed the restaurant for their hospitality. You have made me a very happy yelper Serena and I hope my tipped reached you. Revisit: 7/5/18: I…read morenearly revised this to a one star, and only saved by the action the management took. I love my steak, so when my wife received an offer of 40% off the NEW items on the main menu, I booked. My wife and daughter ordered: Steak, Prawn, Chicken combo, one medium, and the other medium to well. My son and I ordered: 10oz Angus Sirloin (28 days old) - both medium. I'll come back to the prices later. The first mistake the waiter misheard and ordered 3 x the combo, and 1 x Angus sirloin. He never returned to ask if the others wanted any sauces, and took the deputy manager to do this.... This meant that my wife, daughter and son ate theirs whilst I waited for mine to be cooked. In normal circumstances I'd have a 28 day old fillet steak "blue", but as it was a sirloin I erred on the side of caution with medium. My son's steak, as he claimed, was tough and hard to chew, plus it looked rare, but he refused to allow me to get it cooked more. So I didn't to save him from his embarrassment. (NOTE: To people with children, teach them to be confident in complaining if the food is not cooked to their liking. I need to do more to explain to him in the future.) My food arrived when everyone else had finished. The steak was clearly rare, and tough as old boots. I called the manager over, and told him, that given how old I was, I knew a 28 day old steak when I saw it, and this was definitely not cooked medium. He took it away, and I ate some remnants of my wife's meal (tell you about her experience later). The food returned, the steak extremely hot, as were the chips. The steak was still very tough. Has to be the worst steak I have had in a number of years. You expect these types of steaks at the 2 for 1 outlets; that have a fast turnover. I told the manager that this has to be one of our worst experiences since visiting this restaurant, and even he had to agree that it wasn't acceptable. I asked my wife about her food, and I said that her steak seemed chewable, but the piece of chicken looked dry, but she said this was the best bit on the plate. Although I did try one of the prawns and I thought that these were quite soft and well cooked. The children had puds. At this point the manager had left the building and the deputy had taken over. She said that she had been told what had happened, and she would be adjusting the bill. I said if she brought it from the starting point of nil, and then negotiate upwards from that point. It came at first with about £52 with the 40% mains reduction, and my main removed, and the two bottles of wine removed from the bill at £11.99 each. I pointed out that the two bottles of wine were in fact £14.99 each, and she then went away and made a further reduction. As I say they had also taken off the price of my meal, but had included it in the 40% off deal. This final price was £46.84. I didn't leave a tip for the waiter. Bill breakdown: 1 x Bottle of Pinot Grigio - £14.99 1 x Bottle of Beefsteak Malbec - £14.99 2 x Bottomless pepsi - £2.89 each 1 pint of Carling - £3.49 2 x Steak, Prawn & Chicken Combo - £37.98 (£18.99 each) 2 x 10oz Angus Sirloin - £42.98 (£21.49 each) 1 x Sundae Popcorn - £4.99 1 x Mud Pie - £5.49 Total - £130.69 Deduction of one main - £21.49 40% promotion deduction - £32.38 Deduction for wine - £23.98 Correction for price of wine - £6.00 As I say final bill total: £46.84. I don't see this as a result, I see it as a meal spoilt. The whole dining experience ruined. Their loss that evening was: £51.47, as they would have taken off the 40% if everything had been OK.
