Hopefully, this review deters any individual from working with Will or his workshop. I paid for…read morethree pieces nearly a year ago, and he has stopped responding to me. Read on if you want the whole story, or view the text conversation on him continually postponing and outright lying (literally, stating on one occasion that he got in a car crash and later admitting that he lied) why he couldn't deliver the furniture.
The story is juicy, so please read on:
October 2021: I inquired with Will about having a few pieces made: a bed frame, dining table, and radiator cover/bookcase. We talked through what I was thinking, and I sent him several reference photos. He said there were no issues and that he could do the work. He sent over an invoice and said wood samples would arrive next week, with delivery in January for the furniture. I paid the 60% down payment and waited for the wood samples.
November 2021: A month passed, and still no wood samples, so I reached out. He said he was again running behind; I get it, people are busy, no big deal. After a few more weeks and a few more excuses for not sending the samples, I finally received them before Christmas.
January 2022: No word from Will, update on the pieces, or if January delivery was even still feasible.
March 2022: Two more months pass and he finally sent photos of the bedframe and said he could deliver on March 16th. The morning of the 16th, he texted, saying there was a family emergency and that he needed to reschedule. The bedframe and table were finally delivered, but no radiator cover (he said it was still not done and that he would deliver it in a few weeks). The quality of the bedframe was subpar, and there were disjointed edges (see photos). I was not too happy, considering I paid over $10,000 for it. I would have been better off buying a frame from West Elm for much cheaper, but at this point, what am I going to do?
April 2022: I inquired about the radiator cover every few weeks, and he always stated he was about to start it. This is when the story started going downhill.
May 2022: He stated he started the radiator/bookcase and that he would deliver it the last week of May. I ask for photos, no response. I then follow up once more for an update, and again, there is no response.
June 2022: Will said he could deliver the radiator the first week of June but then canceled the morning of and sent a photo of his van hit by a deer. Little did he realize that when you save an image on your iPhone that someone sent you you can see when the photo was taken. The photo had been taken back in May so I called him out on it and simply asked for full transparency and honesty, as I had been extremely patient until this point. He admitted to lying, apologized, and said he could come the following week.
The morning of the next week when he said he would come, I kid you not, texted me saying he tweaked his neck and couldn't make it. I told him I was leaving for the month of July but that my doorman could escort him to my apartment to install the radiator cover/bookcase while I was away, he agreed that would be best.
July 2022: I reached out again while on vacation, no response or update from Will. At this point, I had finally had enough and texted him asking to simply send a refund for the remaining balance of unfinished work, and of course, no response.
August 2022: I have reached out multiple times asking for the money back and he has stopped replying altogether. I am fully under the impression he will never respond, deliver the final piece of furniture I put 60% down on, or refund me.
I hope anyone who has read this far sees it is not worth the headache, time, or energy chasing Will down. He is unreliable, does subpar work, and will constantly feed you bs excuses on why something is delayed, or worse, hasn't been started.
