This is the gas station in my neighborhood. The prices are pretty decent as gas prices go. The convenience store is exactly what is supposed to be a convenience store when you don't want to be inconvenienced. Nothing particularly special. They have "upgraded" the pump area with music. It is painfully annoying. It's the same tone and beat, in a Twilight Zone type Loop. It is the kind of thing when you pull up to the gas station and it begins to play it will make you feel absolutely like you have gone bonkers. And it stays with you for a long time after you left the gas station. Which would be okay except for it has no meaning. It's not like a song with some lyrical value or meaning. It's just a beat that plays over and over and over again. It is been so annoying that many of us have gone into the Arco store and asked what do we do to get their corporation to turn it off. However, one thing that I do like about the upgrade is they have gas station TV. Basically while you're standing there pumping for one or two minutes it takes to put the gas in your car you can watch TV and commercials. It's not like you could change the channels or anything but I suppose it's there to entertain and obviously have commercials pumped in your face while you're pumping gas. I suspect the TV is there so that as you are being annoyed by the music you concentrate on the the TV instead. But it just doesn't work the whole thing is damn annoying. This is why they're getting a single star for their stupidity to not realize that their customers don't want to be so annoyed that they feel like they're going nuts. The only way you can really understand what I'm talking about is to come to Kingston, stop at the Arco gas station, pump some gas, to join the locals and the cars coming off the ferry that need gas, to experience being completely annoyed and maybe even frightened. Come on, Arco, how could you even think that annoying single, monotone piece of music playing in that loop it's going to make people feel good about pumping gas or want to come back? Sometimes corporations do some really dumb stuff. This is an example of over the top corporate stupidity. Because honestly this gas station is my neighborhood but I now go down the street to another gas station further away these days. read more

I love the place but the fact that it's been here for decades and is now a Franchise brand and they still can't do overlapping shift changes. it's not about stocking. They can do that in the dead if night until morning. their sign (which is old) says "9:45-10:05 shift change". This happens often, it's now 10:25 and yet again they have the doors locked Passed the State Time. They will probably read this as selfish but they know they shouldn't have to lock the doors for a 24hour business with No Traffic after 12.. ridiculous. read more

Hard to get too excited about a gas station but the Kingston Arco has plenty of pumps, good pricing and friendly service. They are not an AM/PM Mini Mart which is kind of strange. They do have pretty much all of the standard items of an AM/PM. Easy place to hop in and out of whole catching or getting off of the Kingston ferry. read more

I went in and got a full tank of gas, bought snacks at this place. I noticed when I was about to leave that my tire was low on air. I asked the man if he could turn the air on so I could fix my tire. He told me no, that air and water pumps were by a 3rd party company and I'd have to pay a dollar. I had no cash on me. So I was forced to go elsewhere to get some air. It really boggles my mind that you are a service station... Someone has already spent over 40 bucks with you, and you can't provide that customer with complimentary air. No customer service at this service station. read more

The night manager (I'm guessing at that but she was the only person there) whose name is Sheri or Cheri, is a gem. I missed the last Ferry out Sunday night (actually the 1:30am one) and I needed to use a rest room. So I went there. She said of course. When I asked her if she knew when the next ferry was, she looked it up and found the next one was at 4:55am. I was about to ask if she knew somewhere I could take a nap when she suggested that I park behind the station where a camera could keep an eye on me and that she'd wake me in time to get the ferry. Then she offered me a free cuppa coffee too. I hope the owner reads these and makes sure he never loses such a great employee! I promise, she and I are total strangers. Auto shut of fuel trigger on pump defective, overfilled vehicle running app 4 gallons of fuel on the ground, attendant made minimal attempt to contain, Put 2-3 cups of kitty litter/floor drain on, ran into storm drain. No apology or reimbursement, called stated owner (Kevin) the next day with same response. Have been filling vehicles for 45 years including this one since new (has 104000 miles) have never had this occur. read more
