I called and explained what happed, blamed myself, and told them the urgency of getting to my son! They called right back and said they'd make it in 10. Ken called and saved the day! He was so eager to help, so kind, and caring! I couldn't thank him enough! I told him I was going to bring him something to thank him on monday! He replied "thank you so much, but please don't. I received another call from them at 10:16pm confirming that the service will be with me in 15mins. But then I WAITED another 20MINS, there was nothing. I called them to find out that I have to WAIT for another 35MINS. Updated: They had me waiting another 45 MINS Changing a flat tire, just the WAITING is more than 2 hours. I called Subaru Roadside Assistance, since my car was dead and needed to be taken to the dealership. They contracted with Platinum Towing. I was given a 2 hour window in which the driver would show up. The driver, Devon, arrived over 30 minutes later than the 2 hour window I was given. Devon seemed completely unhappy that the car didn't start (Subaru knew this, and should have told them). When he asked how to put the car into neutral, I told him I didn't know and phoned the dealership. The service adviser at the dealership told me there is no way to put the car into neutral without it having battery power. Devon showed me the video he'd found on Youtube about how to take the car out of gear - this required me to loan him a bread knife so he could pry some pieces off of my car. I was a bit apprehensive and asked if he'd like to talk with the dealership adviser, who said he would be happy to chat with him about the vehicle. Devon wasn't interested. At this point, a cargo van was stopped and honked at us. I walked over to let the driver know it would be a little while, so he'd be better off going around on a another block. This driver asked if I would help him back up, and I agreed to help him out. At this point Devon yelled at me, and I said, "Just a minute, I've got to help this guy back up out of here." Devon's response? To call me an "a**hole" on the phone to whomever he was talking to. When I returned, he wouldn't talk to me and told me he needed to get a tool - but he said it would just be 10 minutes before he'd be back. Then I found out that Subaru had scheduled a new tow truck provider, and I'd have to wait at least an hour for the next driver to arrive. I can't say I'd recommend Platinum Towing at all. My experience with them was that their employees were rude, not knowledgeable, insulting and overall working with them was completely a waste of time. We had these people come out through USAA to replace a flat tire. They were extremely rude. Dude never introduced himself. He complained about having to work the entire time and almost refused to actually change the tire. He also repeatedly judged us for having "crap" in the car (a jacket and a couple backpacks). Another horrible roadside assistance experience to report. Call your roadside provider and ask for another company if you get Platinum Tow. They were first dispatched at 9:00 with a 10:30 ETA. At 10:35, they said they were 15 minutes out, "stuck in traffic." At 10:55, they reported being 30 minutes away, delayed on another call. At this point, I think they're just making things up, lying to the roadside assistance company. At 11:55, they finally arrived, but the truck couldn't make it to my car (too large). It took the driver 20 minutes to call me back with a new ETA, which was for another 60 minutes after that. I don't care how busy you are. Tell me it's a 3-hour wait and be on time. read more

Woe to those who find this review. Your roadside assistance was promised a long time ago and you know not where to turn. Get a different tow service if possible. I waited for three hours after being promised 45min. The first few times that I called for an update they lied and said "25min, traffic is bad". The last time I called, they offered to call the driver and then had him call me when he was on his way. Victor was quick and efficient when he arrived and apologized for the delay but it kind of hosed my day. I let the dealer know about my experience and the other reviews I see here and they promised to escalate to their district manager. I had the same problem many other reviewers have had with this business: inaccurate arrival time estimates. I had a flat tire and my roadside assistance insurance said Platinum was coming with in an hour. They did not arrive within an hour, so I called. They told me help is arriving in 15 minutes, but 15 minutes passes and no help. I call back and they say 15 minutes again. 15 minutes passes and no help. Repeat until I can't help telling the person on the phone, "THIS IS WHY YOU HAVE TERRIBLE YELP REVIEWS." I was rear ended in my car by one of their tow trucks traveling too fast for the conditions at the time while stopped at a light. It was pouring down rain and hadn't done so in a long time. We pull off the street and instead of asking if I'm alright, the driver nervously asks me for a cigarette. He phones home, then tells me to call dispatch and they'll take care of me. I call Layla at dispatch and she asks me if I have whiplash and if so, how bad? Interesting. I didn't know tow truck dispatchers were authorized to make a medical assessment over the phone. She gets my information and tells me the head honcho will take good care of me. Evidently he likes to handle these things himself. What a guy! No insurance info, no nothing. Are they insured?? After hearing nothing, I call back and talk to someone else who seems to care very little about the lack of follow up on their part. 2+ months now and nothing. Avoid this business at all costs! I will be putting forth the "sandwich" approach when writing this review. The top bread is a compliment, the stuff in the sandwich is the critical feedback, and the bottom bread will be a compliment. Okay, the top piece of bread. I called the dispatch center several times for updates and every time I called the people on the other side of the phone were very friendly and easy to talk with. Okay, the stuff in the sandwich. UGH! ALLIED INSURANCE! Why did you do this to me? I needed my motorcycle towed and having full coverage on the bike means my insurance took care of everything. Earlier this week someone attempted to steal my bike (JERK) and the entire ignition was taken out and in shreds. Finding a place to tow a motorcycle I assume could be difficult but also my bike is the size of a scooter and weighs 200ish pounds so I feel like that could be a pretty easy job. I get a call from my insurance at 12pm on Tuesday and I'm told that they found a tow company to tow my bike. They then text me a time window and information for the tow company. I was given a three hour window which felt really long but I didn't have a lot going on so I didn't care too much about that. My only concern was the bike was being towed to a service shop that closes a little early so I wanted to make sure the bike got there in time. I called Platinum right after I received the text to verify that I was in their system and to put a note in that I would appreciate a call 30 minutes before the driver arrives since I live across town. At the three hour mark I called Platinum to check on the status of my tow. The person on the phone told me they were running about 30 minutes behind so to plan on the driver being there by 3:45pm. I was sent a website that tracks the status of the tow situation and at 3:41pm the status changed to "In Route". THANK YOU!!!! So now I am waiting for a phone call, which I never received. I'm checking every 10 or so minutes to see if the status changed. Nope. Eventually by 4:30pm I call Platinum again. After asking where the truck is and sharing with her that the status online says "In Route", she tells me that the truck is actually still at their dispatch center and the driver is not even at the dispatch center yet. AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! At this point I'm questioning whether to just cancel the tow and have my insurance figure something else out tomorrow. She assures me that a truck will be in route soon and to wait by my phone. Eventually, at 5:30pm, 5.5 hours after I was put in the system and 2.5 hours after the given time window, the driver showed up. I was given a call while the driver was in the alley which thankfully my GF was there (her house) to meet the driver because I was never given the 30 minute heads-up that I requested. Okay, bottom piece of bread. Jesus the driver was SUPER helpful and worked very hard to get my bike on the truck. The steering wheel was locked and couldn't be unlocked (ignition was gone) so he had to work hard to get the bike to roll up into the back of the tow truck. FINAL THOUGHTS: Jesus (driver) was awesome, the people at dispatch center were friendly, it takes WAY TOO LONG to get a tow which is understandable but BE HONEST AND GIVE RELIABLE TIME WINDOWS/ESTIMATES! read more

Their dispatcher does not know what they are allowed and not allowed to do. I called and SCHEDULED a tow ahead of time for the following morning. I asked and it was confirmed to me MULTIPLE TIMES that I did NOT need to be at my vehicle because the shop they were towing it to would be open. They arrived 2 hours late, and the truck driver called me and said he couldn't pick it up because I was not there with the key. WOW awesome, thanks. Now I have to wait until NEXT WEEK because the key has already been dropped off at the shop, AS DISCUSSED with the dispatcher the night before. EDIT: As a side note - the driver himself on the phone was very nice and professional. He was not even told by his company that there was a scheduled time for pickup or that I would not be there. Used this company through my fleet vehicle service. I just wanted a jump for my dead car. Luckily I wasn't stranded anywhere, or I would have been stranded a LONG time. This company let me know that someone would be in my area within the hour, an hour and a half later I called and asked for an update. The man apologized and said that there were three cars ahead of me and estimated another 25-30 minutes. After another hour and a half, I called back in for them to let me know that they dropped the ball and forgot to call me and let me know that they are still running behind and they anticipate another 40 minute delay. The communication is UPDATE: This guy blew a fuse in my car, my air conditioner won't work now and I have to bring my car to the shop to fix it. Also.. he didn't know where the batter was. read more

This just happened. I went for a power walk around Green Lake and was feeling happy and alive until my brain went dark and I locked the keys in my car as I was on my way out (don't ask). Feeling like an idiot, I called Roadside Assistance through my insurance company (Progressive) and they dispatched Platinum Towing to rescue me. Not only was I impressed by how quickly they arrived, but I also received status updates via text messaging and the driver called me on his way to be sure he could find me. How relieved I was to meet tow truck driver Jim, as he was so kind and smiley and did not make me feel worse about myself. The wait time was about 30 minutes and Jim had my car unlocked in less than five. Fast, efficient and personable, Platinum Towing sent me the perfect person. Pretty much a consistently negative experience as I'm reading other reviews here. This company is an absolute disappointment. Every encounter with an employee is just absolutely depressing. Everyone from the dispatcher to the actual roadside assistance field representative just look and sound dejected. I would never have contacted Platinum Towing personally but my insurance company (Progressive) had assigned my request to them. Not sure if they ever screen these companies, but they really need to do some quality control! The dispatcher that called me sounded half asleep and yet was able to muster up some attitude. She said that the tow truck had an ETA of 25 mins. NOPE! More like 1 hour! I had safely parked my car at work so I had to keep going outside to check if this truck had arrived. Once it had, the guy was just a hot mess. Not friendly at all and seemed like doing his job was such an inconvenience. At least he did the absolute minimum and fixed the issue. I was incredibly polite and thanked him profusely, just like anyone with a disabled vehicle receiving some much needed help would. NO RESPONSE. CRICKETS. Yeah, thanks! I needed a jump and get free assistance through Progressive. After I requested service, I got a text with the towing company info and an ETA of about 40 mins. I googled the towing company and saw all the reviews and couldn't help but expect the worst. I'm happy to say though I have nothing but a 5 star review to give! Not sure if other insurance companies have the same ability, but I was able to track the tow truck like an uber which was helpful. The ETA was pretty accurate and the driver showed up about 10 mins after I was told. What was nice was that he also called when he was about 15 mins out and then again when he was a couple mins away. Darrel showed up, was super friendly, jumped my car in a couple mins tops and set me on my way. Maybe my situation was an anomaly, but with all the negative reviews on here I thought it was necessary to share a success story on here! read more

Submitted my first towing claim to my auto insurance USAA today at 430 PM and their contractor Platinum Towing was suppose to come to the 9th and Jefferson area of Seattle. ETA from my insurance was 1.5 hours, which became 30 minutes, 30 minutes, and 30 more minutes thereafter. 3 hours later they were still a no call, no show. Furious, I called the tow company directly and was greeted by a lady that asked to place to me on hold, BUT actually hung up. At this point I was livid and decided I'd rather pay out of pocket for a tow than wait any longer for a company that I was SURE was never going to come. Yelped companies in the immediate area. Called Universal Towing based out of Bellevue/Kirkland who came 30 minutes after contact! This company was a god send and was highly recommended by Yelp reviewers. Charles is the owner and he's expeditious, personable, and professional. My car seems to be having electrical issues and he even recommended a repair shop in the International District that he trusts. Saving their number in my phone for future use! $200 for a quick 15 minute ride to Northgate area and NO MORE WAITING- I'm willing to pay for reliability. read more

I was forced to try to use Platinum Towing as my roadside assistance service contracts with them, I guess, and I had major transmission issues. The assistance service contacted them and we got an ETA of about 45 minutes "or sooner!" Ok. 45 minutes came and went, and another 15. The assistance service checks if anyone showed up. No they hadn't. Another 15 minutes go past and I wait... Call the assistance company and then called Platinum, itself. 15 minutes. Wait and call. 15 minutes. Wait and call. 15 minutes.... Played this game until they were 2.5 hours past their original ETA, and the final update was "it could be 90 minutes." They're the worst. So I cut my losses. My car could still go about 15 miles per hour, while crossing my fingers it didn't just flat up stall, so I just drove it to the dealership myself. read more

On the way home from work, I come to a complete stop in traffic and I get rear ended from a truck going maybe 55mph. Fast forward past all the insurance stuff. My insurance sends me to Platinum towing to tow my car away. It was 6:07 PM when I got off the phone with my insurance. Platinum Towing's initial arrival time via text message? 7:17 PM. I stuck around because I wasn't comfortable leaving my car on the freeway like that so I was just going to wait till my girlfriend got off work to come pick me up while waiting for the tow truck together. The other drivers towing truck had already come and towed away his car. I wait till 7:20 and call my insurance and ask the status, they follow up with Platinum and say they are 20 minutes out. Okay, I'll wait a little longer. They update their arrival time via text to 7:47 PM... I wait till 8 PM and still no call from the tow truck driver so I call Platinum Towing directly and ask the status, the girl on the phone said they are backed up a few hours and will be there in an hour. Are you kidding me? You couldn't have said that to begin with? Ridiculous. So, I waited another hour. By that time my girl arrived and I waited in her car, so it was around 9. I called Platinum again and they put me on hold. When I was on line again, it was a different rep and she said that my driver had arrived at the previous drop off location and is currently taking the car off the truck bed and it will be another 30 minutes. I wait till 9:45ish and call again and they tell me that the driver is on his way and that they will have him give me call. Ok...it's finally 10:20ish and the driver finally calls me and asks for my location and that he will be there in a few minutes. Moral of the story is..AVOID this company if you can. They're terrible. Liars. The only good part that I can say about them is that the driver was apologetic and caring and very understandable of the situation. He did not want me damaging my car further while getting it on his truck bed. Other than that, AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS! EVEN IF IT'S THROUGH INSURANCE. You will be waiting till you turn to bones. No update no anything. I call them again to hear from them it'll take 30minutes longer. 30 minutes later. No call. No update. So I call them again and they said 30 more minutes. And she told me the guy didn't even leave yet. An hour and a half later guy didn't leave? Okay cool 30 minutes later. No call. No update. But this time they tell me they can't give me a time frame of the towing trucks arrival. They made me wait 2 hours when originally it was suppose to be 45 minutes. My suggestion? Here's my experience. Approximately 2:45pm 2/1/17 while southbound on I-5 in Seattle, power steering died and battery light came on. After a couple miles (stop-and-go traffic), car suddenly lurched to complete stop. Able to get it moving again, got to the shoulder between 520 and I-5 interchange, and called Roadside assistance. They dispatched a truck from Platinum Towing, and I was given a 4:14 arrival. Approximately 4:00, Washington State DOT vehicle arrived to check on stalled vehicle. He offered to call a tow truck, so I called insurance to get an update. I was told vehicle was en route and would arrive within a half hour. Informed WSDOT driver I have a tow coming, so he left. Received a text message from 847-87 at 4:37, new ETA of 5:15. Called again to check status, was told about 15 minutes, putting arrival at around 5:00. 5:30 - almost 3 hours after I initially called - truck still hadn't arrived. I called AGAIN, and was told 15 minutes. By this time temperature had dropped to about 37degF and it was nearly dark out, and rush hour clearing so cars moving at over 60MPH on both sides of me. Battery was dead, so I couldn't use hazards, and was not visible to any drivers. Called 911 to have a trooper come out, and had them dispatch a tow truck. The tow truck and trooper arrived about the same time, somewhere around 6:00. This is when I FINALLY got a call from the Platinum tow truck, who said he was 45 minutes away and ready to pick up my car. Similar to other reviews here, a horribly run operation that invents stories and false promises. My insurance company hired them for a 7-mile tow and I was sent a text stating that they would arrive with 60 minutes. I called them after they didn't show up for 1 hour 15 and was told they only got the tow order 30 minutes prior but would guarantee their service within an hour. My insurance company called them at the same time and were given another story - there was an accident so they had to prioritize that call. Another 1 hour 15 passes, I call back and am told the driver is dropping off another car and will be here within 30 minutes. 40 minutes pass and nothing, so another call. This time an explanation that the driver was delayed because he had to winch the previous car (meaning, the tow truck had to tow a car). When asking to speak to a supervisor, conveniently Sandra was out to lunch but I was assured she would call me back to discuss the issues within 20 minutes. Never got a call but I was able to get a hold of Ronya (sp?) who first apologized for her staff then tried justifying that this isn't normal for the company. I told her about the reviews here on Yelp, to which she replied "well there are children in accidents and of course we have to prioritize them". Minutes prior, the driver told me he was towing cars around a dealership.
