I went in with my mom in January 2011 to look at dresses and ended up buying a sample dress off the rack for a 30% discount ($1200 end price) with absolutely no refunds. My mom is ecstatic, but I was a little less so initially. I felt a little iffy about the dress, so I looked online for the manufacturer's usual promotional pictures. No luck. After spending hours looking into it, I discovered that this La Sposa dress is from the 2008 collection and had likely been in the store for that long. Also, if this is the case, I could possibly have bought this dress off eBay or the like for way less. Also, being a sample, it has some issues: marks, general grubbiness from being tried on a billion times, missing buttons, etc. Not too bad, but its a bit...used looking for $1200! I mistakenly assumed that due to the small size of the store, their collection be pretty much all current dresses. So, in summary: very nice shop with very sweet but also persuasive sales people. BUYER BEWARE like anywhere (especially wedding shops!) ask lots of questions, even the obvious ones like "is this dress more than 3 years old?" and "are you sure this is how its supposed to fit?" Or you'll end up like me, paying $1000 too much for a dress that looks like it may have already seen a wedding or two!

I get that I live in Canada now, but come on Michael's corporate conglomerate multibillionaire people - if a spool of ribbon is $2.99 in the U.S. it doesn't not need to be double that just because I've moved across the border. Michael's has a coupon every week for 40-50% off of almost any item in the store and you can even show it to them on their smartphone. If you don't get flyers in the mail, not to fear - sign up for their e-mail or go on to flyerland.ca for instant access to the coupon. My most recent trip to Michael's was for a birthday party my daughter attended which is what prompted me to write this review! HOW COOL! The hosting birthday girl basically gets to pick out any project in the store and then they have a staff member assist the kiddos with completing the project. Now, my daughter is a wee one still so they made bracelets and necklaces but I read online about t-shirt paining parties and all kinds of neat ideas. The party lasted for 2 hours - so basically, 1 hour for the craft and 1 hour for cake/presents. Some of their sales items are decent but I don't understand why they charge so much in the first place. $40 for a t-shirt? Really?! I could understand (but not condone) it if Aritzia was a big, prestigious brand name, but they're not. I like the way the store is set up. It's pretty practical and easy to navigate. I don't like how they make you put your stuff in lockers when you try stuff on though. I realize that it probably prevents any kind of shoplifting but it's just inconvenient and, let's be honest, weird. Aritzia is OK. One girl in particular at this location named Hannah was an absolute angel! I pulled lots of items myself and she added some to my dressing room as well. I didn't feel that need to up-sale pressure from her, it felt like she was genuinely showing me pieces I may have missed myself or that she thought I would like. I was also grateful because she was super helpful with putting items on hold for my mom to go pick up later as my birthday gift! Sadly there was one piece I couldn't find in the store so she wrote it down and mentioned to my mom how they could special order it to the store so I could pick it up once it arrived in the store. Of course, my mom thought that was a great idea and went forward with it and stuck the receipt I needed in the gift bag along with everything else. Well later we got the email stating it had arrived and right away I drove all the way to the west end from Sherwood Park and I had forgotten the receipt I needed to pick up the shirt my mom had special ordered for me. I felt like a complete idiot but luckily the girls at the counter reassured me that if someone at home could send me a picture of it that would be totally acceptable as well. So in the end I got everything I wanted and had an excellent experience at this location. Once again I just want to say thank you to Hannah for all the help she gave me!
