Well, this wasn't the case for me with this place. reborn like a really cheap and nasty pigeon( you know, the ones you see in Central Station with the club feet and missing wings) from the ashes of the recently departed Woolworth's, the West End market is a mish mash of pish and trash. From cheap and nastily scented soaps, mobile phone stuff, DVDs and Cd's (101 Thursday night background music elevator classics anyone??), to posters, tacky calenders and other displays of what and not, this place has it all. Maybe a good joint to stock up on x mass decorations and other seasonal throwaway stuff, but nothing of real substance, a pity really when you consider its location and size, however given the decent crowd in there on a Tuesday afternoon, then they must be doing something right.

It's filled with a selection of shops/market stalls, of various sizes and levels of permanency. Actually, that's a pretty good way to describe this place - impermanent. From the state of the place, you half expect the whole place to get up and run like street sellers when the Police come within about 300 yards. The stuff for sale in there might not seem quite so tatty if the stall names weren't written on pieces of cardboard. Now, like all these places, there are a couple of gems. There's a really nice vintage and jewellery stall in there named Rare & Flair, there's a pet stall, a light fittings store and a bargain books stall. However, there's also a slightly nasty cafe (which does boast free wifi), dodgy furniture stalls and the standard mobile phone unlocking places. One thing that did catch my eye is the fact that there is a psychic fortune telling stall in there - although I didn't get close enough to it to find out much about it.... Overall, this place is a bit of a dump. I'd probably go in again if I was passing - but more out of boredom than because I actually wanted to buy anything.

Ashton Lane has all the best bars true enough, but that doesn't mean that Cresswell Lane doesn't have its own advantages. First off, there's a handful of places to eat around here. I quite like Cafe Go-Go for a working lunch, especially with their lunch menu deals. Then there's Cafe Andaluz towards the end of the lane which has been a favourite for tapas with me for a long time. On the other side of the lane there's a bunch of cute little shops selling all kinds of things. It's perfect for shopping for something a little bit unusual, for presents for friends or souvenirs. For this you cannot miss DeCourcey's Arcade which is well worth exploring. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's not always clear when the businesses within it are open but that's a small problem in the grand scheme of things. Like Ashton Lane, Cresswell Lane boasts cobbled streets and fairy lights and is just a really nice, if slightly quieter place to be.

Four days on, Evri cannot locate the package. Today, I attempted to contact HoF customer service, which is an exercise in frustration. I requested a full refund but have only been refunded the delivery charges. Had I known that HoF uses Evri I would have never placed the order. I certainly would never order from HoF. I honestly can't say whose customer service is worse - HoF's or Evri's. They're both terrible. Unless you enjoy being gaslighted (by both HoF and Evri), I would highly discourage anyone from making an online purchase from HoF.

The first time I used it I had lost a lot of weight and did not know what suited my new figure. I was going to a wedding so went to get an outfit for that. I think if your going to do this you should be open-minded and try everything they bring, this is what I did and I got a beautiful dress that I would never have picked for myself. I have a wedding coming up in December so decided to do it again. They offer services for any type of outfit you need, like going on holiday, new work clothes and they also offer a wardrobe renewal if you fancy a change. I booked online which was quick and simple they ask you a few questions about what your looking for, what you like, colours and your sizes. I was given a 90 minute slot. I headed to the personal shopper area, based near the men's shoes department. I was met by my personal shopper, Jordan. He explained that the normal rooms they use were busy so I was brought to a make shift dressing room in Mr Fraser's old office, which was stunning, apparently not many people get to see in the office. It made the experience even more special. Jordan asked me a few questions and then he headed off to find me some outfits. I sat on the couch and looked at magazines and relaxed. Jordan then arrived with armfulls of dresses. I then began trying them on. There was no pressure to like them, but I tried them all on. Nothing in the first lot suited. So Jordan headed off again. The 2nd last dress I tried on was the one, loved it, and again like my first personal shopper experience it was a dress I would never have picked for myself. I would highly recommend giving this a go, I think you worry that you are going to feel pressured into buying something but it's all very chilled out and fun to get a little pampered.

The bigger stores in town are well worth a trip to, because I honestly think that the warehouse sends Motherwell all it's rubbish! The clothes are way below par, even for Primark, and the shop is always a mess despite the staffs best efforts to keep it tidy. In saying that, the staff are the biggest redeeming feature here. There are loads of them, and they are always really happy to help. The tills are always queued out, even though there are two till bays, one of which is never open, a big mistake because I always see people leaving stuff when they can't be bothered waiting for service. It's ok if you need to pick up some undies or a couple of bits of jewellery, but for clothes, save your pennies for the bigger store in Glasgow.

Have to say a lot more for the younger boy than the older .Thursday seems to be a great day to get a bargain with many clothes items going for 50pence or less. Some nice household goods on offer towels are lovely as are the scented candles and with prices ranging from 50pence to two pounds you cant go wrong. There are a lot of fitting rooms so you don't have a long wait to try things on. The store can get a bit messy what with people just lifting things up and putting them back down wherever feel sorry for anyone working there on a Saturday.

Flash forward a couple of decades and Vivienne Westwood is a high class designer famous for her outrageous (and often Tarten-esque) fashion creations. Granted, for most of us this store isn't likely to become a regular haunt on our Saturday shopping routine. But that doesn't mean that we can't all visit and stare wide eyed at the beautiful designs. The shop feels very high end as you'd expect, and it fits in well in Princes Square. The staff greet you upon arrival and are not intrusive for the most part. The good thing about this brand is that there are affordable items such as their purses, shoes, accessories and some clothes - but it still definitely feels like a treat. On my first visit I was in a bit of a rush, and made a slightly rushed purchase of a larger purse - as I said earlier, for the most part the staff are not intrusive but on this occasion the man serving me was not as patient as I'd like someone to be if I'm buying an expensive item - he opened the cabinet holding the purses and I asked to see a few, then he stood and it felt as if he was waiting for me just to pick one. Anyway, I did like it but the leather didn't feel particularly premium to me, so back it went a couple of days later, and exchanged for a scarf with some credit left - and this time I'm pleased to say the girl serving me was friendly and very efficient, a real pleasure. It is docked a star for the service noted above and their returns policy which feels rather tight given how premium it is - you have 7 days to return an item, but it can only be an exchange or credit. Really glad we have this store in Glasgow as the designs are gorgeous... Now only if they sold the Carrie wedding dress!

The owners try to introduce goods which you generally don't see anywhere else hence the Something Different name. My sister and myself once bought a beautiful big glass dish as a gift for a family member and we had some other places to go before going home and asked if we could collect it later. The owner offered to (and did) deliver it to us later in the day at no cost. That's what I call excellent service and can only recommend the shop and owners for service, variety and quality of stock etc.
